Help--insane chart :( Actually uploaded the pic this time

WTF is going on??????  Have I ovulated?

Yes, you'll notice we were like "whatever" and DTD on Saturday.  I don't care if I get pg anymore, I am over it and just want to know what is happening this cycle!!!!

  • You'll notice some weird spikes, I had a cold with fever at the beginning of this cycle, so I really don't know if they can be attributed to my hormones or my cold.

ICYW, I have cramping today.  Don't know if that's pms cramping or whatever.   Blahh

  • Is there any reason for the elevated temps on CD 35-36? Because if not, I would guess you haven't yet. You should see a clear temp shift above the last 6 temps.

  • Yeah those were Sat and Sun, and I didn't set my alarm to take my temp, so I took it a few hours late.  Typically when I do that it is higher.  But then again, who knows.  Thanks for the input :)

  • Your chart is a little hard to tell. I have rocky charts like yours sometimes but still you can see clear temp shift at time of O or when I start Provera to bring on O. If you are still trying to avoid, I would, or use secondary protection.

  • This is my second cycle actually temping, and my first one had a very clear shift and looked like what a typical chart should, so this is not the norm for me (I don't think...).

LOL I'll probably ovulate like, tomorrow, or something and end up pregnant from Saturday after 4 weeks of abstaining!
    :))  que sera sera

  • You're body is normal, until it is not. You might be having an anovulatory cycle or will eventually O late. If you really are wondering whether or not you have O'd you could go to your doctor and request a progesterone draw, that can confirm ovulation when you have a rocky chart. It just won't tell you when.

  • Are you a mouth breather?  I had to change to vaginal temping because once the cold weather kicked in, I'm a mouth breather.  It caused some rocky temps for me, but I didn't go an extended time without AF like this.

I hope your temps stay up and it keeps your o date.  I always got a dip 4-5 days after O so maybe that's the reason for today?

I am!!!  I have allergies and asthma and can't ever breathe through my nose.  Also our bedroom is super cold and the wind blows through the windows.  I might switch to vaginal temping next cycle...

My cycles average about 40 days long (have been up to 60 in the past, during really stressful times), so this isn't too crazy long of a cycle for me, it's just the ovulation thing that has me scratching my head.

If it does have my ovulation date correct (I even think it might have been one day after what they have it set as), is it very likely in anyone's opinion that I could have conceived from Saturday, or was that too far past ovulation?  I'm good either way, just curious as to your opinions.
    image
  • Ok so I keep my temps in my phone (type them in when I first wake up so I don't forget) and just realized I didn't even write down the last two correctly (drrrrr).  I think this shows it's even more clear it hasn't happened yet...
    image
  • I heard closing your mouth for a minute before taking the temp can help.  Maybe you can do that until this cycle ends then start vaginal?

I think the egg is only good for 12-24 hours.  So you *should* be good 4-5 days later.

    GOOD LUCK!

  • The egg is usually good for 6-24 hours, but sperm is good anywhere from 3-5 days.

Based on your corrected temps, I don't think you O'd. Keep temping though! Sorry this cycle is driving you bonkers! If you hit 60 days with no clear temp shift call your doctor and they can give you a prescription for Provera to bring on AF if you're not pregnant.

  • That's a good idea!!  I will try that.

When I look at the second chart I posted (with the correct dates) I'm even more confused.  It almost looks like I might have ovulated yesterday---IF I get some higher temps tomorrow and the next few days.
    image
  • Yikes, I'm not convinced you O'd either. Those temps after the o date are lower than the cover line. Good luck but I agree you might want to start temping via the vag! :)

    image
  • I know you don't believe in BC, I think at this point I would totally chance it.  Sorry for my crudeness but I'd go with withdrawal and just hope for the best!  4 weeks of abstaining and I think I would lose it!

  • I got a little "fix" on Saturday lol :)  At this point I am open to TTW.

Thanks for all the input ladies!  I will keep you posted :)

I'm sorry ladies, please don't advocate this. Just because the chance worked out for some people, doesn't mean it will for everyone. The chance of getting pregnant each month is very slim, so yes this can work, but it is not effective.

Good luck frank139, I'm glad you are okay with whatever happens and sticking to your beliefs regarding BC. I think I would have just done it anyway if I were you too!

  • Thank you :)  It's certainly not easy, and honestly my faith has led me to believe that maybe this cycle is weird for a reason, maybe I need to let go of control and just TTW.  I know what we practice seems really weird and archaic in today's culture, so I appreciate that you all don't make fun of me!  (Thinking I'm crazy in your head is ok ;) )

In Evan's case, where she's going to (and did) anyway, it's an option.  Would I suggest it to my 18 yo neice - no, because she can't handle the consequenses.

I haven't read the stats or the studies, but I have heard it's not as bad as we were told growing up.  You know along with you are fertile 100% of your cycle, ovulating multiple times, and all the other scare tactics a lot of us got from schools.

  • I didn't mean to advocate pull and pray.  I was just commenting that I would have cracked and just done that in her situation.  However, I don't know if technically withdrawal is a form of BC or if it would be considered in the scope of NFP.  (Should probably know that since I grew up in a Catholic family)
  • Yeah it's against the NFP rules.  BUT That doesn't mean we don't slip up sometimes and resort to it, though.  Hey I'm not a saint here lol

Wow, I honestly didn't know that! Isn't masturbation against the rules because the sperm doesn't have an egg to seek or something like that? I think it's great that you have your beliefs and stick with them! I'd never call you crazy for it :)

You are correct--unless it's with your spouse and leads to intercourse (like as foreplay or whatever).  The basic idea behind nfp (in case anyone is curious? idk) is that it allows you to space (TTA) while also technically always leaving room for the Holy Spirit to intervene.  I'm sure someone else can explain it better than me though.  (here's an excerpt from Catholic News Agency: "NFP does not separate sex from responsibility. The act of intercourse has a twofold meaning: sharing of love and giving of life. Married persons who perform this act must accept both sides of the coin. While not every marital act will result in a child, it must nevertheless be open to the possibility of life. The act will be "open" to life as long as the spouses do nothing to "close" it. Here's the difference between artificial birth control and NFP. In the first case, one does something (takes a pill, uses a condom, etc.) to deliberately "close" the life-giving power of sexual intercourse. In NFP, however, no such step is taken. The spouses do not act against their fertility. They do not reject the link between the two meanings of sex (love and life). They simply follow the natural patterns of the body's fertility and infertility -- patterns placed there by God Himself. In the fertile days of a woman's cycle, if there are serious reasons to avoid pregnancy, the couple respectfully steps back from the act of intercourse. In using birth control devices, however, they attack the meaning of the act -- they do the action of intercourse and then undo part of it. In NFP, instead, they simply choose at times not to do the action in the first place.")  I know women who have to avoid pregnancy for health reasons etc and have done so successfully from wedding day through menopause using nfp.  It really is highly effective if used properly...which we are obviously not! haha  ----->>>All that is just if you're curious as to the reasoning behind NFP.   Obviously I don't judge anyone who doesn't use it and I certainly don't think less of anyone who doesn't use it.  This is just how I choose to live my faith.  I converted to Catholicism so I feel it's important to not be a "cafeteria Catholic" and really try to follow all the tenets.

That said, it's a good thing Catholics can drink or else we'd have nothing to do!
    :))

  • Not getting my hopes up, but this am I had a temp higher than my previous 8 temps.  Yay!

  • In case anyone is still wondering (doubtful lol) I uploaded all my info into fertility friend, and went back into my calendar and discarded the dates when I knew they were faulty temps (aka when i woke up at noon, or had a hangover, or a fever from the cold i had) and here is what they came up with.  Normally I wouldn't discard any temps but I specifically only discarded days that I was positive were wonky.  Here's what they came up with...
