Things no one mentioned (TMI Tuesday)

Possibly TMI... Why didn't anyone ever tell me I was going to get random shooting pains in my lady bits???

I was just talking to my sister and asked why there are so many unpleasant/weird things people neglect to tell you about being pregnant.  She said it's not that no one wants to tell you it's that you forget most of all that once LO arrives.

So, what are some of the weird/unpleasant/unexpected things you've experienced?

Re: Things no one mentioned (TMI Tuesday)

  • There's so many weird things that i never knew about too lol. In my 2nd tri i started having major book leakage. If i was braless around the house i always leaked through my shirt.

Waiting on my baby girl <3 EDD 2/5/14

  • @pandpmeant2b my bmb called that lightning crotch.

My boobs were hard as a rock and leaking all over my shirt this morning. No one told me I would be like a milk fountain. Lol

This in 1st tri. I would expect it in 3rd; but not right off the bat! I was stuffed last night and barely managed to finish my single-serve pot pie!

  • @DangerMuffin23 - I'm with you on the no sleeping, only it's not because of congestion. I'm just such a light sleeper anymore that everything wakes me up! Cats, husband, dog, temperature... and I don't even have any aches and pains yet. Oh boy!

The general icky feeling that I have sometimes is really not fun. It's almost how it feels when you're about to get a fever, with the sensitive skin and overall discomfort. I actually had someone say "yeah, you're not quite to the 'glowing and pregnant' stage yet...". Um, thanks? I'm sure the pregnancy acne and bags under my eyes from lack of sleep aren't helping, but come on.

  • Yeah no one warned me about my postpartum body...

Engorged, leaky boobs that eventually become saggier when your milk levels out.

That if you don't use each boob equally when BF, they will get lopsided.

Any bleeding in the first 6 weeks is NOT your period, just random pp bleeding. Mine kept coming and going.

Just because you are BF doesn't mean you won't get your period.

That it may take months before you are hit with the crazy pp hormones.

  • 1) my milk also didn't really come in... And once I started talking about it with my mom friends there were so many in the same boat! 2) I would miss feeling baby move. 3) I thought the c section was not a big deal. A lot of women had me so scared for it... I really found the recovery to be quite easy.

  • 1) I was hopeful to enjoy pregnant eating. I basically kept nothing down in 1st tri. At like a pig 17-26 weeks. Around 26-28, at the start of third tri, I went back to food aversions and feeling full after a bite or two of anything.

    2) All the boogers and bloody noses. Every morning my nose is super stuffed up and I can't blow it out. When I finally do, it bleeds.

    3) I feel like my insides are constantly bruised from hands, feets, elbows, knees and a butt. I think Baby E is boney like his mama.

  • @lb1117 have you tried putting Vaseline or neosporine on a quetip and rubbing it in your nose? That helped when mine would bleed like that.

Another boob-related phenomenon...your boobs might be lopsided regardless of how you BF. I only pump and from the start, lefty was much more productive than righty. I'm talking 4+ ounces vs 2.

  • @madeline10L I am still trying to breast feed. C gets anywhere from 3-6 oz of breast milk that I've pumped per day. Plus still putting her to breast but she is still having the majority of her feedings from formula :(. I didn't realize how emotional I would be about breast feeding and the lack of being able to EBF.
