NBR: Ask anyone anything?

Re: NBR: Ask anyone anything?

  • Another one for everyone.  If you could could visit one "world" from a book you've read what would it be?  I know the obvious answer is Hogwarts for most, but are there any second place worlds?

I think it would be Booney, for the shoes. :)

To everyone: how do you feel about a) pumpkin and b) cilantro?

    a) I like Pumpkin French Toast and Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

    b) I LOVE cilantro. I had heard about the genetic predisposition as well. I can't imagine not liking cilantro. DH likes it, but not as much as I do.

  • I agree Hogwarts is the obvious answer. Back in time with Jamie would be a close second place. I would say Stoneybrook, Connecticut as third place.
  • @MrsJenE How are old are you?  (Hey, it's ask me anything, right?)

I always pictured you older but then read that you want 3 kids so apparently my assumption was wrong (I also still picture @booneybear as being really tall and bad ass despite that not being the case so I obviously know nothing about all of you inside my computer.)

I agree that Hogwarts is a given. I'm with you @MrsC7, Prague with Karou would be awesome! I think it would be cool to go to Thisby (from The Scorpio Races) to see the water horses. From a safe distance, of course. I also loved the "world" described in The Night Circus as well.

  • Usually coffee, but I love chai tea
Usually beer, but I go through Reisling spurts
    Vanilla ice cream, chocolate candy
Depends.  I like marinara sauce from the jar but alfredo sauce has to be fresh, so I have it like once a year.

I regret not going to vet school after college like I'd planned.  My grades weren't spectacular, so I was taking some extra courses post-grad, then got my master's in something else from a school in DC.  None of the area schools have vet programs, and my husband was just taking over his father's business and wouldn't have gone with me.

  • Tattoos - i have several.  A fish on my shoulder, an 'I love you' in sign language on the inside of my wrist, my girls' birthdays on my upper back, and an open book with the pages turning into butterflies coming up my spine.

Scariest thing I've ever done - scuba diving in the caves underneath a covered quarry.  It was in PA in the early spring, and my partner pulled me out because I went hypothermic.  I barely remember being cold, and don't remember blacking out, but I'm sure I sheared several years off of his life.

Scariest thing I've almost done - I was adopted, and have started the process several times to find my birth parents.  Then I balk and put the papers away because I'm afraid of what I'd find out.

Good luck (if you go through with it)!

Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

@elistar I thought she was on her late 30s (no reason really, that's just what I had in my head).  I personally think that's late to be thinking about having 3 kids.  No judging if that's what others do!

Old enough to have one kid, pay taxes, and exercise tact when speaking to other people, but young enough to forgo said tact when someone says something completely insulting. Asking a woman her age and then stating she seems too old to plan on 3 kids before knowing said age is pretty insulting. Hell, those are fighting words as far as I'm concerned. It would seem to me that after nearly 32 years of living you would know better.

PS- she's younger than you are. So feel free to have a glass of water to wash down your foot.

  • Okay, I'm sorry.  I didn't state she was TOO OLD.  I just thought she was older than she was but her saying she wanted 3 kids made me realize that she must be younger than I thought.  I do no want to fight.  I do not want to banished and hated.

    I apologize for insulting anyone.

It's not that deep. No one's fighting. You're not being targeted. Just because you don't mean to insult someone doesn't make your words any less hurtful. That's what I was trying to bring to your attention.

If anyone is banished or hated it will be me because I have no qualms calling people out, but in my advanced age, I've decided junewhatevs.

  • Okay here's a few questions:

    Coffee or tea?
    Beer or wine?
    Chocolate or vanilla?
    Marinara sauce or alfredo?

    Coffee

Can I say both and not sound like an alcoholic?

    Vanilla

Alfredo, without a doubt. I could eat that shit by the truckload.
