Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

How do you like it so far? Is it for any of the challenges or just fun? Super Bowl weekend!! Do you prefer one team over the other? Will you watch the game?
Friday, December 28 2012. The day I had emergency appendix surgery in Mexico and quit smoking. Proof that everything has a good side!! DH and I are happily child-free!! No due date or toddler tickers here!! my read shelf:

Re: Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

  • I am listening to Water for Elephants and I'm not sure about it yet. I'm not too far in yet. I am reading The Light Between Oceans and I'm really enjoying it. These are #'s 12 and 13 for the year. My goal is 50.

I will probably not watch the game, I'm not a huge pro football fan. We might record the game and fast forward to the commercials.

  • Still fishing The Firebird...I was a bad reader this week. I will probably "watch" the Super Bowl. And by that I mean socialize and eat junk food.

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • I'm 85% done with Sultry with a Twist. It's enjoyable. It's #10 for the year.

My H and I will watch the game. I'm making homemade queso and some enchilada wonton cups for us to eat.

I'm not a huge fan of football, but will root for the Broncos. One of the women on another board I'm on recently lost her 3 year old daughter. The mom is a Broncos fan. So, I'm rooting for the Broncos this year.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through listening to Outlander.  I love Davina Porter's voice.  Just love.  I'm reading Vampire Academy for buddy reads,  Emma with my class, and The Invention of Wings.

Neither my husband nor I have any interest in football.  More time for reading!

ETA: Vampire Academy, not Vampire Diaries

  • I just finished up Fangirl  this morning.  I gave it 3 stars.  I was not a fan of reading the fanfiction of the fanfiction of Harry Potter.  It made me stabby.  And then I started Hell House by Richard Matheson and only got about 4 chapters in, so I don't have an opinion on it just yet.

I am also slogging through The Harding Era for my presidential biography.

These are books 12 and 13 for the year.

  • reading "the edge of never".....hope to finish it today/tonight for my buddy read

listening "a walk across the sun" love this book!!

I went to HS with Seattle Seahawks player Michael Robinson but I am a fan of Payton Manning so I don't care who wins....DH and I will get chinese like we usually do and watch the game together

  • I'm having a hard time getting into anything.  I started and stopped a few audio books this week because they aren't grabbing my attention.  I'm picking away at both Code Name Verity and Under the Never Sky.  I think at any other time I would love both of these, I just can't stay focused on them right now.

  • Listening to Sapphique (Incarceron #2) by Catherine Fisher.  It's ok so far.  Interesting premise though the character voices jump back and forth so much that it's hard to focus on either story line.

What is this "Super Bowl" of which you speak?  I'm going to showtune karaoke on Sunday evening.  :)

  • I started listening to The Crimson Crown (Seven Realms #4!!) last night.  I'm only on disc 2 of 13, but it's just like the other three so far, and I'm enjoying it.

I also started reading Reality Boy last night.  I'm less than 100 pages in, but so far, so good.  Sometimes the writing style is a little distracting, but I think the story is interesting so far.  I made the mistake of reading the back of the book last night, though, and I wish I hadn't because now I know what's coming.

These are numbers 9 and 10 for the year, which is insane for me to have already read!  I've been a YA junkie this month, so I think that's why I've been able to read so many.

I'm excited for superbowl halftime, but couldn't care less about the game.
  • I am reading "Empress of the Night" and I am not really liking it.  The POV is weird and it's really boring.  I can't for the life of me figure out how the book is only 50% complete because it seems to me that the story should be over really soon.  It is #7 for the year.

I am between books at the moment. We will probably put the Superbowl on- my H doesn't like to be left out of the commercial discussions the next day at work. I'll probably read.

We don't care about the game but are going to BIL's because it's still fun to hang out with everyone.

  • I'm still reading You Had Me at Hello by Mhairi McFarlane.. it's okay, but not really grabbing me.  I also started an HP reread, so I'm about 75% of the way through HP and the Sorcerer's Stone.  They are 5 and 6 for the year.

My parents are coming over on Sunday to watch the game with us.  I don't really prefer one team over the other, I'm just hoping for a good game.

I really liked this book a lot.  I'm surprised at how much I liked it.

I'm reading August: Osage County for the Genre Challenge in the Play category
I'm listening to Going Clear (I can't remember the full name but it's about Scientology)

I really like August: Osage County so far.  Going Clear has be a little distracted and uninterested but maybe it's the audio.

Every Superbowl, we make a bunch of food, wear pajamas, and hang out just DH and I.  It's perfect because it's the day after my birthday this year so it will be like us celebrating just "us" and I get to pick all the food!

  • I am reading Morning Glory by Sarah Jio and am now researching houseboats to rent on my next vacation.

I just started listening to Xenocide by Orson Scott Card (It's the 3rd book in the Ender's Game series),

H is leaving for Key West tomorrow so I will not be watching the superbowl.  I may check the score occasionally so I can see if we won and money from the squares he bought.

I just finished Wool by Hugh Howey and it was really good! I think a lot of people here would really enjoy it. I'm debating starting on the second book in the series or taking a quick break. Wool could read as a stand alone.

Listening to The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen (because I liked The Sugar Queen so much.) It's okay so far.

I'm finally halfway through American Gods! Still enjoying but it's a slower read and I can't make myself push through it.

We're debating even watching the Super Bowl. I can't stand Seattle's coach, so I'm rooting (mildly) for Denver. I'm mostly just hoping I win money from one of my Super Bowl squares in the work pool.
