Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

How do you like it so far? Is it for any of the challenges? Which sport are you most excited for in the Olympics?

Re: Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

  • I am reading Will Grayson, Will Grayson and listening to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for a re-read. These are numbers 14 and 15, my goal for the year is 50.

I am excited most for hockey. I will watch just about any of the events in the Olympics. I do get a kick out of curling.

  • I am reading 3 books: Summerlandish by Summer Land (a memoir for WBC), Tales from Watership Down by Richard Adams and Secerets by Lauren Kunze.

I am listening to Xenocide by Orson Scott Card (3rd book in the Ender's saga series).

They are numbers 17-20.  I don't know how I ended up reading 4 books at the same time but my goal it so finish all 4 by tomorrow, I'm getting overwhelmed and want to get back to a more manageable 2 books at a time.

I doubt I will watch the Olympics,

  • I am reading A Storm of Swords and Lover Enshrined and enjoying both so far.

I like the winter Olympics much better than the summer ones and will probably follow most of the events.

I'm reading The Cuckoo's Calling (Galbraith) and listening to Shift (Howey). I'm right at the beginning of both. No complaints here! I think these books put me around ten for the year?

I'll watch pretty much any Olympic event if I see it's on although I don't much care for that event where they ski and then shoot. I think it's boring and don't get it. I like to watch the medals tally.

  • I am reading Alienated. I should finish it today. I am listening to My Mother was Nuts by Penny Marshall but it is on hold due to a sinus infection. I just can't listen to anything.
  • I just finished The Fiery Heart (Bloodlines #4).  I have no idea what to read next.

I'm not a huge fan of the winter Olympics.  I might just watch the figure skating.

    It's slippery as waterweed.
  • At home: Red Moon by Benjamin Percy.  It's supposed to be a literary take on werewolves, kind of like The Passage.  It is sooooooo sloooooow.  But I'm almost done!

At work: Bobcat and Other Stories by Rebecca Lee.  It's absolutely gorgeous.

In the car: A Short Guide to a Long Life by David B. Agus
    imageimage image
  • I reading Rogue Rider by Larissa Ione.  I'm about 75% done and I'm really enjoying it! #9

I'm listening to Midnight Rising by Lara Adrian. I'm enjoying it enough. It reads like a typical PNR, which isn't a bad thing, but it's a little typical.  #10

  • I'm reading The Boys of Winter by Wayne Coffey. It's about the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team. I'm counting it for the sports book of WBC, but this has been on my list for awhile. I'm pretty excited for it. I guess it makes sense that I am looking forward to hockey, then, in the Olympics. Oh and the luge...it just looks too fun.

  • I am rereading Emma along with my class. I'm reading the new Jen Lancaster - Twisted Sisters.  I'm also listening to Outlander.

I love watching figure skating and ski jumping.

  • I can't tell yooouuuu because I'm judging books for the RITA awards. But when I'm done with those, V-Rossi's series is next on my list.

    I wrote this!
  • I'm reading That Summer by Sarah Dessen and Someday, Someday Maybe by Lauren Graham.  I'm flying through That Summer, it's cute.  I definitely see Lauren Graham's personality in her novel but it's just not grabbing my attention like I thought it would.  I'm forcing myself to read 2-3 chapters before bed but overall it's slow going.

I'm listening to American Pastoral by Philip Roth.  It's too early to say how I feel about this one.

    I think this is #14-16 of 100.

All the negative media coverage has really turned me off to the Olympics this year.  Normally I watch as often as I can but this year I have no desire.

I have been devouring the Sentinel Wars series by Shannon Butcher. It is PNR. I'm also making my way through Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay and Midnight Tides by Steven Erikson; both are fantasy. Lastly, I have been enjoying the manga series Vampire Knight, which is clearly geared towards teen girls, and I am enjoying the teen angst and love triangle.

Last week was pretty spectacular- I am now around 25 for the year.

I have no plans to watch the Olympics, beyond what is reported in the morning news.

  • I am still working on The Harding Era: Warren G. Harding and his Administration by Robert K. Murray.  It is a big, boring snoozefest

I also finished The Castaways by Elin Hilderbrand this morning at the gym.  I liked it more than I expected I would.  Even though some of the plot lines were annoying, I found I couldn't stop reading.

I don't know what I am going to pick up now.  But I need something to take my mind off Warren Harding once in a while.

I am currently on Book #15 for the year.

I am soooo done with the Olympics already.  I was done about 2 weeks ago.

  • I am reading HP2 (reread) and am picking up Hyperbole and a Half from the library this afternoon.  They are 6 and 7 of 52 for the year.

I love watching figure skating!  I also think DS is going to get a kick out of watching the ski jumps, so we'll watch those.  He is obsessed with jumping at the moment.

  • I just finished listening to 'barefoot' by elin hildebrand. I had to drive up to vt last weekend (about 5-6 hours each way) so I had it on overdrive, borrowed from library, through my iPad plugged into the car. It was good for a long drive and the story kept my attention but I wouldn't call it anything better than ok. I'm excited for all of the sports. I live the skating, ski jumping and hockey. Curlings fun too.

  • I'm currently reading Thorn Queen (Dark Swan #2) in the hopes that this series gets better. #1 was 2.5 stars for me.

I love the Olympics, but I don't love where it's being hosted this year. The horrifying reports about homophobia, animal killings, etc.. It makes me not want to watch.

This is exactly why I'm turned off to it this year.

  • I'm reading Alienated and rereading HP1 and Outlander.

I'm not listening to anything because I have no clue how that works in the rental car.

As for the Olympics, I watch as much of it as I can.  Any sport.

  • I'm still reading Me Before You for my IRL book club. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend.

I will be watching the Olympics. Excited for hockey too!
  • I'm working through East of Eden and Under the Dome. I like both, but I'm reading deathly slow.
  • I finished up Allegiant last night and I'm thrilled to be able to start something else!  It was #17 for the year.

I'm listening to My Life as a White Trash Zombie, it is #18 for the year, it's trashy but enjoyable.

  • I am still in kind of a book coma, coming straight out of Voyager and then The Fiery Heart within a few days of each other.  I think I'm going to pick up my Andrew Jackson bio next, which seems like maybe a bad idea, but I really want to get back to my presidential challenge.

I love the ice events.  Hockey, figure and speed skating, even curling (mostly because it's funny and I think I might be able to do that one).

I finished The Husband's Secret (#7 for the year) yesterday (it was great!) and now I'm trying to decide what to start next.

I don't care about the Olympics.  In fact, I kind of dislike the Olympics in that it puts shows I watch on hiatus for several weeks :/

ETA:  I think I'm going to start Fangirl!  Because I can. :-bd  How did I forget that I had this in my possession?

  • I'm listening to The Crimson Crown (Seven Realms #4) and completely, completely loving it.  I like it better than the first three so far, because stuff is finally coming together.

I'm reading John Adams by David McCullough, and it's brilliant.  I'm only about 100 pages in, but the writing is just amazing.  I love that he had Adams' diaries, and gives so much insight into what was going on in his head as a young man.  I love John Adams.

These are numbers 11 and 12 for the year, but I have no goal this year.  John Adams is for the Presidential challenge (yeah, number 2!)

I adore the Olympics, and coverage will be on in my house whenever we are home.  I will watch whatever event they put on TV.  I think it's fun to watch the stuff that I never see outside of the Olympics, like bobsled, skeleton, luge, curling, ski jumping, etc.
