“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
"I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”

my read shelf:
Last night our next door neighbor rear-ended my husband's truck which was parked on the street. I was home alone, and went outside when I heard the noise. He was sitting in his car, door open, on the phone, so I don't know if he was going to come knock on the door or not.
His little Toyota Celica put a giant dent in the rear bumper of an F150 - the giant 4x4 F150 - and moved it forward about 3 feet. He must have slammed his foot on the gas, I really don't understand how he could have hit the truck that hard. I mean, those things are practically indestructable. He said he thought his car was in reverse?
He said his car was already messed up, so he wasn't going to file for insurance, gestured at the dent and paint transfer, and asked if that was okay. Uh, WTF are you thinking, NO! After which I nicely asked him to hang up his phone, give me his driver's license and insurance card, and called H and the police. And by nicely, I mean I used my awesome vocabulary instead of creating a scene in the middle of the street.
I'll watch the Olympic sports that DH wants to see, just to show some support for the athletes who have worked so hard to get there even though I'm deeply saddened by a lot of the things coming out about Russia.

I love the Olympics! Summer & winter! I think what these athletes can do is absolutely amazing! Every two years, I sacrifice sleep to watch as much as possible!
And if I am spoiled before the broadcast, I will be pissed (which is why I don't follow any of the "official" Olympic social media feeds - they spoiled way too much during 2012)! X(
Olympic sites are chosen, what, 8 or 10 years in advance? I don't know if they would have been able to switch the location on short notice. Unless they went back to the Vancouver or Turin???
Oh! And I agree with the poster who mentioned not allowing "professional" athletes compete. I find it bizarre that the Olympic hockey teams are made up of a LARGE amount of NHL players.
That's what made the "Miracle on Ice" team so amazing! These "amateur" athletes from the US beat the "professional" equivilent team from the Soviet Union! Awesome stuff!!!
