Re: FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

  • That looks exactly like every night in the Y_L household, but I'm the one with the laptop and he's the one with the ipad.

  • I confess that even though so far I've only worked Monday this week, I'm feeling pretty irritated that the snow isn't sticking around long enough to get me out of work tomorrow too. Come on, it's Friday! I don't want to play catch up on a Friday. At least we don't open until ten. I think I've enjoyed all this kitty cuddling and reading too much.

  • I haven't shaved my legs since our anniversary in October. I'm on bedrest and pelvic rest so H isn't really coming anywhere near me. I feel gross, but not gross enough to do anything about it.

  • We still have our exterior Christmas lights up.

I took out the Christmas rug from our porch two days ago (I had to buy a new rug, I couldn't find our non-holiday rug), and the wreath is still hanging on the door.

Our outside lights are still up too.  There's too much snow is my excuse.  I also just like them.

Same here but ours is partly out of laziness too. We don't turn them on anymore but they are still on the trees/bushes

Same here...it's pretty with all the snow :)

I had Lorelei's 1st birthday more or less planned out when she was 6 months.  When she was 8 months, I started printing & designing stuff.
  • DH and I aren't big on valentines, and he's great all the time. So, this morning, when I woke up, I said "Happy VDay" and I joked about us making our annual trip to Walgreens tomorrow for clearance candy together which he totally laughed at and agreed to.

Then I went down stairs and found a card and box of chocolates.

    And I BURST INTO TEARS.

    Like, STREAMING tears.

But now I'm somehow wondering if that's... bad or something?! I'm so weird.

I still have all of our indoor holiday decor up.  I did take down the tree but only because I had to (it was real.)  I'm now calling everything "winter decor."

  • I can't get my car out of my parking spot much less down the driveway, and no plows have come down our cul de sac nor the road leading to it yet.  I might not be able to go to work tomorrow.  Aw darn.  ;-)

We have plenty of food in the house but I'm starting to get squirrelly about what to make for dinner.  I want to go to the grocery store!

  • We're supposed to get more snow tonight.  And then more on Sunday.  I am so sick of snow right now.

  • We don't have a snow shovel anymore since our last one broke.  We needed to get to the store though, so we drove over the pile of snow the plow left at the end of the driveway.  It wasn't easy, but it was doable.  I felt smug as we passed a neighbor digging out her car.  In my defense, she's a bitch.

  • One of my friends finalized her divorce this week and while I am happy to see her happy again after this past year, I feel slightly sad about it all. Probably because I knew them as a couple for over 5 yrs, spent time with his family, went to their wedding, and helped them move into their home. They grew apart, he did a 180 in personality (which, up until now I didn't really realize was possible) and she got tired of being miserable. Again, divorce is the best thing for them but I can't help but feel slightly sad I won't see them together again.

It's going to be in the 80s today for me, but honestly I'm about as sick of winter as the rest of you based purely on the amount of bitching I hear through every possible outlet from family and friends.

    O:-)
I didn't think it was possible to hate snow so much... and not actually have to deal with snow.

  • I'm in SUCH a foul mood today, that I had two glasses of wine with lunch to try to cheer up. Now I am *just* barely functional.

  • I really, really want to open @Young_Love's Code Name Verity threads but I can't because I haven't read it yet. And it's not available on Overdrive at any of my public libraries!  :((

  • Recently all of my friends become complete flakes. I have probably 5 or 6 SAHM friends and only 1 who I make plans with and know that she'll follow through. Everyone else has about a 25% chance of actually showing up and not texting an hour before that their kid is cranky or whatever. Your kid is cranky because you trap them in the house all the frigging time.

I was stood up twice this week and once last week for no actual reason that I can discern and am bitter about it.

  • DD made some cute Valentines craft things a week ago. They are sweet and I'm super glad that our nanny and my mom like to do those things with her. They fuss over holiday things and make a big deal. In comparison, today I said, "we make an extra effort to tell people how much we care about them on Valentine's Day" and gave her a hug. I'm not into decorating with junk and crafts seem like too much effort when I'm trying to keep a household functioning. I find most holidays annoying.

I think sometimes that I'm not being a great mom because of my unconventional approach to holidays (in that I just don't care that much.)
