Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I'm not a fan of Thursdays.  I have meetings all day which means I'm trapped in a room with a bunch of people I don't like for most of the day.  I also get no work done because of all these stupid meetings.

    Wednesdays are like that for me.  That's my meeting day.  I hope it flies for you!

  • I think I need a new washing machine, ugh. It's almost 8 yrs old and we bought a pretty low-end model to begin with. Occasionally it wouldn't spin if there were too few clothes in it but last night when it was aggitating it made such a loud noise from my basement it actually scared the crap out of me at first because I didn't know what it was. Then when I went to throw the clothes in the dryer on a full load of laundry I found that it didn't spin at all so the clothes were sopping wet. Tried restarting that part of the cycle-nothing and I also think I smelled burning a little when I opened it up. I wish I had more handy men in my circle to tell us what to do.
    Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

  • I have a two-hour meeting today where lunch is provided.  Unlike other people, I hate when lunch is provided because it basically makes me feel like my options are limited.  Also, more times than not, there's always a million turkey sandwiches and I don't like turkey sandwiches.

    I'm the opposite.  I can't wait for mine to die.  My washing machine came with our house and our dryer was bought when we moved in 10 years ago.  Most of the time I'm thankful J is mechanically inclined, but I don't want to buy a new belt or whatever it needs, I want to new one!

    I realize the upfront cost is a lot, but I can't wait to show him how much energy/water we'd save with new ones.  Both of our machines are low (high?) on the efficiency scale.

    @SnShne322

    It took me so long to convince J to stop trying to fix the washer and just get a new one.  He was fixing it like once a week for a while.  It was ridiculous!

    Same here! I couldn't tell you who half the people at the Oscars were, but I love hearing/reading about the royal family.

    Um, I mean the kids... the kids do not need one. I have no interest in it.

  • @SnShne322 John is selective over what he wants to try to fix around the house and what he just impulsively goes out and buys new.  It makes me crazy because I never really know how he comes to these decisions.  Unfortunately, he also insists on fixing the washing machine/dryer and I just want a new one.

  • I just handed out "The Lady of Shallott" to my 10th graders.  Only one girl in each class had read/seen Anne of Green Gables.  "The Lady of Shallot" is the poem Anne acts out in the boat, which sinks, and then Gilbert has to rescue her.  Why haven't more kids read Anne of Green Gables?
  • I have baby fever.  Like, bad.  DH still thinks we are good at two, so I have some major convincing to do.
