QOTD 3/7

If you were to go wedding dress shopping now, would you pick a different dress? What about your bridesmaids dresses?

PS - thanks for the idea Evan. :)

Re: QOTD 3/7

  • I think a lot about the dress that I almost bought. But, I'm glad I picked the dress I did and I love it, I was so comfortable in it. I wouldn't change a thing about the bridesmaids dresses, they were perfect and suited them all very well.

I loved my dress.  I also loved how my bridesmaids looked.  Don't think I would change that.  There are things I would change about my wedding, #1 would be how stressed I was about it.
  • I loved (and still love) my dress. I don't think I'd change anything about it.

I liked my bridesmaid's dresses, but I'm in my best friend's wedding in Nov and she's picking silk chiffon dresses. I'm in love with that fabric! The dresses for my wedding were satin, and while I love the silk chiffon, I think the satin was a better fit for the location and overall vibe of my wedding. I think the silk chiffon is a better fit for a summer or outdoor wedding (my friend's is outdoors in California).

  • I loved my dress. I wish I had tried on a one-shoulder just to see how it looked since that's what I originally wanted. I loved the bridesmaid dresses, but maybe boobie coverage would have been a good idea lol.

  • This is actually something I think about too often.  The main reason I went with my dress was because of it having good coverage and fit up top.  I liked my dress; didn't love it.  I was in love with this other dress but I didn't go with it because my chest made the top not work.  The dress was two pieces, the top and the bottom.  The top was like a mesh with a ton of beading and sparkle, but since it was such a delicate fabric, it didn't have any support.  I wish I would have thought to try it on with a corset underneath and I am sure it would have worked much better and that would have been my dress.

I also wish I would have had my reduction surgery before the wedding.  That was a major body issue for me and I wish I could look back at my wedding pictures and feel good about the way I looked, rather than disappointed.

As for bridesmaids dresses, I think they all looked amazing and I don't think I'd change anything.

  • I wouldn't change anything!
  • I loved my dress, but if I was shopping with the newer styles, I'd pick something more like this for me: image
I thought my bridesmaids looked great, so I wouldn't change that.

Yasmin I really dislike how I look in a lot of my wedding pictures, I think I look like a giant manatee.  It can be frustrating!

Another thing I would change is to have the guts to tell MIL to stop being such an insufferable biatch.  BAM I said it!!

  • I actually bought my dress online, 5 months before the wedding and I LOVE it.  It was everything I was looking for. (backstory: I planned on wearing my grandma's dress and had it altered to fit me.  I later discovered it wasn't her wedding dress...we don;t know who it actually belonged to!  I decided to wear a different dress since I didn't LOVE my grandma's).

I wanted my BM dresses to be different from each other but that wasn't realistic for us.  I really liked the dresses I ended up choosing for them though.  They looked great and the girls have worn them since.

  • Evan, that dress is gorgeous!!  And you didn't look like a manatee!  I snooped through your wedding pics and you were a beautiful bride!

  • Haha thanks Yasmin!  I thought you looked amazing in yours too! (I wish I could look at ALL of our wedding albums, is that weird? Oh well!)

@christinavy your wedding dress actually reminds me of @ystaalenburg's, especially at the top.

  • @frank139@msn.edu: I also want to creep at EVERYONE's wedding pics.

    I don't think I've seen a pic of @ystaalenburg's dress.

I loved my dress and let my bms pick theirs, so I wouldn't change anything! No pics because I'm on mobile but here is the model pic:

  • I wouldn't change anything! I still love my dress, would pick it again any day! I let my BM's pick their dresses. I told them designer, material, length, and color, but they got to choose the actual dress. They all got beautiful ones!

Wouldn't change a thing. When I initially went dress shopping, I had a complete different style in mind. I'm glad I went with what I did. I am really not sure what would have happened had I not gotten talked into trying this one on.

One picture is from my reception. The other two are from the ceremony.

  • I love my dress.  I initially wanted straps, but I didn't love anything with straps.  @frank139@msu.edu, I went to Kleinfeld's and they tried to pressure me into a dress similar to what you would want now.  It was beautiful, just not for me.

I always wanted a cathedral length veil and then when I was buying my dress, I let the consultant talk me into a chapel length.  My veil is pretty, but every time I see pictures, I wish I had the cathedral.  I have veil envy Evan!

I love my BM dresses.  They were perfect for my wedding.  I wish I would have let them wear whatever shoes they wanted.  I don't love the shoes even though I picked them.
  • @sjs1013, I am so glad I let my girls pick their shoes. It was really fun seeing what they came up with and how unique they all were. I had one in chuck taylors, one in danskos, one in cowboy boots and one in dress shoes. It was pretty awesome!

  • @consciousdear88 Alfred Angelo?!  How did I not know/remember we were dress twins?! I know Fishin had it in her top 2 dresses, but choose another!

I LOVED MY DRESS!  My boobs are too huge for strapless so I loved the straps, and the lacy and everything!!!

I also let  my girls pick their dresses - best idea EVER.  I just wanted them to be comfortable and happy.

  • @mana8503 Yep!! I think this is the first that I really posted about my dress on here though so that may explain how we did not know we were dress twins. I love the thing though.

Mana, that's too funny that fishin almost got your dress! We ended up being dress twins for both wedding AND bridal shower. Of all the dresses possible, we got the same two!

  • I love my dress, and I don't think that I would pick a different dress if I had the chance to do it over. I do think that I would spend a little more time trying dresses on, however. I only tried on 2 dresses, and I sometimes wish I would have tried one a few more fluffy, princess-y gowns just for fun.

I love the bridesmaid dresses that we picked out and I wouldn't change them, either.
