  • I stayed up until 3 AM last night finishing Drums of Autumn.  SO. GOOD.  I remember liking it of course, but I don't remember it totally destroying me like it did this time.

    52 Books in 2014??

    3.  The Golden Lily (Bloodlines #2) by Richelle Mead.  Sydney bugs the crap out of me, but I will put up with her annoying-ness for a glimpse or two of Dimitri.

I would have thought you'd be an Adrian woman.
I like Adrian but he is a bit to EMO for me.  I can't be inflating his ego all the time when he gets into a mood.  Too much work.

    Besides, Dimitri is 6' 7".
    ;))
OMG, I almost just put a HUGE spoiler in this thread.  BAD LAUREN.  Texting you :)
    LOL!

  • I'm reading Children of the Storm, it is #34 for the year, and I'm enjoying it.

I just started listening to The Black Count, it is #35, I have no opinion yet.

  • I'm still reading North and South for WBC, its taking me forever I may give up on it.  I did just finish The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion and I loved it.  It actually made me laugh out loud.  I'm also reading David and Goliath by Malcom Gladwell, it's really good but I'm not liking it as much as his others.

  • I'm reading Five Days at Memorial (#12 for the year) about a hospital during hurricane Katrina and it's gripping.

  • Dreamland: Something Something the Science of Sleep.  Obviously I'm less than captivated.  It's not bad, but not great either.  It's for my IRL book club.

  • I finished The Firebird last night (and woke up with a headache and not enough sleep as a result) and started Marianna today.  I don't think it will be my favorite of hers, but I really enjoyed The Firebird!

  • I'm finally giving Gone Girl another try.  I'm going back and forth between reading and listening to it.  I'm about 65 pages in...
    Books Read in 2016: 4/50

  • I just finished 12 years a slave and Nikola Tesla Imagination and the man that invented the 20th Century. 12 years a slave has to be one of the best books I have ever read. I've only been counting what I've read since Monday so I've finished 3 books this week.

I am listening to Doctor Sleep and hoping to finish that up as well.
@beebee918 - I listened to The Shining last fall to refresh my memory in anticipation of Doctor Sleep.  I was thinking of listening to Doctor Sleep, too.  How do you like it as an audiobook?
@susiebw the audio is fantastic, in fact I was just wondering if I would have liked the book as much had I read it.

  • I've just finished Inheritance by Malinda Lo. I really liked it, right up until the end, which I didn't think was all that satisfying. I've just started The Gospel of Loki by Joanne Harris, and I'm loving it so far. I adore her characterisation of Loki though, from her other two Norse Mythology books Runemarks and Runelight so I guess that helps. I'm also kind of reading The Boy With the Cuckoo-Clock Heart by Mathias Malzieu, which is exceedingly strange and I don't know if I actually like it or not.
