We all have that one book (or many) that is on our to read shelf that has been there FOREVER but you still haven't read. Lets list them, maybe someone can convince us that it is actually really good and should hop to!

Re: What Book has been on your Goodreads/bookshelf the longest.

  • The one that is on my Goodreads that has been there the longest (that I don't own) is Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins. I have NO idea why I still haven't picked this up! I loved Anna and know I will love this! It has been on there since 9/14/2011 :-(

  • The oldest on my list is Witch Fire by Anya Bast.  It looks interesting, but something else always catches my eye more.  It's been there since 5/20/2010.

    90 books in 2015?

I would encourage you to read this, but I didn't enjoy it in the least and because I love you, I wouldn't want to encourage you to suffer through this book.  :)

Which is why I haven't read this one.

  • My oldest is Ditched: A Love Story and I haven't read it yet because my library doesn't have a copy and it isn't even available to suggest they buy it.

I'm not sure if it's worth owning? Although it's only $0.75 on half.com.

  • About half of my books look like they were added Feb. 2, 2010.  There must have been a system re-set that day.

Also, it says I've been reading American Lion since Dec. 17, 2009.  I can't remember the last time I picked this book up.

  • Free Food for Millionaires by Min Jin Lee - added Jan 2010

I still want to read it - I just always pick up something else instead.

Don't.  Just don't. I just read his latest (And the Mountains Echoed) for my IRL book club and wanted to poke my eyes out.

  • I'm not very good about adding books to my TBR shelf.  The oldest are from 12/28/07 & they are books 6,7 & 8 in the Anne of Green Gables series.

I have 47 books added on Nov 25 2010. However I have been meaning to read Don Quixote since I went to Spain in hs. I keep trying and can't get through it.
  • The Help.  I don't know why I haven't read it yet.  I know it was popular.  I think it's probably because I saw the movie first and now it's kind of ruined the excitement of reading the book.

  • The Sunne in Splendour by Sharon Kay Penman.  It's been on there since July 22, 2009.  There are a few others from that same month but that one is at the top.  I read another one of her books and really struggled with it which is why I've been putting off reading it.

I hate when this happens! You should still read it though, especially if you liked the movie! :-)

  • I just recently cleaned up my TBR list and got it down to about 400 books, I know there are a lot books that I should take off but can't bring myself to do it.

I'm pretty sure that I own the 4 oldest books on my list, which just makes it worse that I haven't read them:

5/28/2008 - Why Buildings Fall Down: Why Structures Fail

    6/11/2008 - A Confederacy of Dunces

6/24/2008 - Just Do It: How One Couple Turned Off the TV and Turned On Their Sex Lives For 101 Days

    6/28/08 - The Red Tent

The book was so much better (I know, I know, everyone says this about books vs. movies).

  • I have A Certain Slant of Light that's been on my TBR since October 24, 2008.  I think someone on here recommended it and I added it but haven't been motivated to read it yet.  I also have The Old Man and the Sea and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time since March 2009.  Both really short, and yet, nope, haven't read them.
