Re: Monday Accountability Post

  • 1. Mine was excellent. We stayed right within budget on everything, even with DH taking the weekend off from work. Only thing we did was spend $13 that was not budgeted, but forgivable.

    2. We put in almost $200 towards our house DP/EFund. It's exciting to finally see our hard work pay off.

    3. Today is DH's birthday, so I'm making him one of his favorite meals along with a green Oreo mud cake. I'm pretty excited to create new meals, and they are both new to me.

  • How MM was your weekend?

    Friday- $1.28 Rebox

                $45 Dinner

    Saturday- $0

    Sunday- $0

    Total-$46.28  Pretty good!

    Any progress towards goals?

We got our state tax return back $441, so we threw that into our house DP account. We were also able to put extra money into our e-fund.

We also made some money this weekend! He taught at work for $20/hr, and I was able to help out for $15/hr so that was exciting. Also, I posted 4 video games on Amazon Saturday night, and I sold 2 of the by Sunday! I'm so excited! Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to see what other small things I can find to sell.

How am I celebrating St. Patty's day?

I celebrated yesterday by going to my parents for some corned beef and cabbage and a yummy green St. Patty's day dessert my sister made!

    1. How MM was your weekend?
Pretty spendy on the Eating Out side of things, but still completely within my envelope budget, otherwise awesome. And I've packs all my breakfasts and lunches for the week which should even things out a bit.

ETA: I did sell a few things, and cleaned off a bookshelf with some books to sell today!

    2. Any progress towards your goals?
Paid off a loan on Friday. Today I will hit my EF goal!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad.  $100 on groceries, $30 on car maintenance.
    2. Any progress towards your goals?  Added $500 to the account we put our extra payments in. :)  It's only halfway through the month, and we have enough in there to pay off another student loan.  It makes me so freaking happy!
    3. Happy St. Patty's Day! How are you celebrating?  My mom and friend are coming to have lunch with me.  Mmmm delicious Reuben.

We also paid off a credit card. We only have one left with a high balance and we are all set! I'm so excited to see these things gone!

    1. How MM was your weekend?

Ours was great. We sold some of DD's old clothes at consignment. We made $40 and then spent $10 of that on a few new items. Other than that we only spent a few dollars on a few grocery items.

eta: I did make some Amazon purchases for supplies to ship everything I sell on Ebay. Totally worth the investment.

    2. Any progress towards your goals?

No real progress that I can think of at the moment. I expect there will be more progress this coming weekend after payday.

    3. Happy St. Patty's Day! How are you celebrating?

    No plans to celebrate. bummer
  • 1. In terms of fun, it was good! We went out to eat within our fun budget. Otherwise, it's been one of those weeks e-funds are made for! I had a $300 major car service at which I learned I need new brake pads ($320). I've got the cash in our car fund, but still a bummer.

    2. All other progress will be on hold while I rebuild the car e-fund to $500.

    3. My gym is offering a free barre class tonight (get it? St. Paddys at the bar!) so that's where I'll be!
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Nothing out of the ordinary- groceries ($112), take out on Saturday ($35), ordered DD#2's birthday invitations ($22) and a few gifts ($50).

    2. Any progress towards your goals? Life insurance polices are all set, waiting on wills to sign and file, side entrance door will be installed on Friday- can't wait!

    3. Happy St. Patty's Day! How are you celebrating? Not much- I do have a green stripe in the sweater I'm wearing today... guess that counts  :)

  • 1. Not good. I somehow agreed to spending 180 on 2 pairs of good sunglasses for us. He was going to spend 150 on something for him and he decided to get me a pair too and he was pretty much staring at me cus he said i looked really hott in them. So i couldn't argue. lol 30 bucks over budget though. Then my husbands tire is losing air pretty quick and he's gotta take it in this afternoon to be fixed - i'm really hoping it just needs to be plugged is all. And to top it off i spent 40 over on groceries. I bought lunches for my husband so he wouldn't need to buy lunch because he's already spent 100 out of his 80 dollar budget and its only the 15th.... but i forgot to even tell him so now he's gotta spend more money.

    2. No we're taking money from our goal instead. OY!

    3. I forgot it was St. Patti's day today! We had a few drinks on saturday which will probably be the extent of our celebrating.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

It wasn't great, my dad is in the hospital so I spent a lot of time there with him this weekend which meant parking fees and buying food at the hospital every day. Not to mention 2 gas purchases from driving 100+ miles a day to see him.

    2. Any progress towards your goals?

Yes! We got our tax return so I put $600 in savings, I finally have a (very) small savings. I also paid off two credit cards. Now my credit card debt sits at $1850. Which I'll pay more towards it when I get paid on Thursday.

    3. Happy St. Patty's Day! How are you celebrating?

Happy St Patty's Day!! I won't be doing much. Hopefully getting out of work at a decent time to go see my dad. I have to get surgery tomorrow so I'll be stuffing my face knowing I can't eat anything tomorrow!
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?
Pretty good! Groceries and household item all in budget. One splurge for some TimBits :-)

    2. Any progress towards your goals?
Yes! Paid off a credit card!! It feels so amazing! Also added to our EFund.

    3. Happy St. Patty's Day! How are you celebrating?
We did most of our celebrating yesterday with the kids. I was in a rush to get to an appointment this morning I didn't even think about wearing green.

  • 1. We were out of town but we stuck to our budget. Just food & gas. We kept it under $200, and H gets $55 a day, for meals and reimbursed for gas, for the work he did over the weekend. H bought jeans and spent $75.

    2. Nothing new.

    3. Not Catholic, but we're going to the bar in about an hour. We have been celebrating all weekend, but it was also Purim this weekend.

    1. How MM was your weekend? It was more expensive than the usual weekend, but it was planned. We gave a gift to a couple that helped us tremendously with our wedding. We got them a night at a bed & breakfast, money for a night out, and watched their kids at their house from 3pm Sat - 12pm Sun. They were so thankful for the time alone. That was about $250. It was worth it though to us because of how much time/money they put in to our wedding. Lunch was $15 on Saturday. We spent $69 on groceries on Sunday. We are looking forward to next weekend - way less expensive/busy!

    2. Any progress towards your goals? We were only able to put $60 towards our house savings. We paid April's rent and some other bills with our paychecks. We also put an offer on a house yesterday (with a closing date of April 29th) which we will get an answer by the end of today!! We also get to hear back on the pre-approval tomorrow!! So nervous and excited! We have our 5% downpayment ready (10k) and we will have saved an additional 10k by the end of April. We are hoping they accept it with them paying closing costs.

    3. Happy St. Patty's Day! How are you celebrating? We are not really celebrating this year. We are staying home because it's a Monday and not spending any money! Maybe I can add green food dye to something for dinner haha.

  • 1 - DD's birthday party was this weekend so not very MM with family in town and eating out.  The last 2 weekends have been like this so thankfully we can reel in the spending starting now.  I'm not use to it but we had saved for her bday, but still spending is spending.

    2 - We found out we got a $959 tax return :)

3 - not celebrating.  DD and I will be going to story time this morning and when she goes down for her nap I will start deep cleaning the house.  I go in for surgery next week and I need things cleaned so I feel better and won't be stressed out when I'm recovering.

  • Honestly...I want to avoid this post all together but it IS an accountability post after all...

    1) Very, very bad. Our car kicked the bucket on Friday after 6 years and 130k miles. H kind of drove it into the ground for work. We knew it was going to happen eventually but the transmission started to fail big time. We ended up purchasing a new car. We had talked ourselves up and down about getting a used one but for various reason we went with new. We put 5k down, got trade in $ towards it from our crap car, and got a very low interest loan. We could have paid for it in cash but I would just rather have that $ as the house DP fund. I know, I know...We can pay it off pretty fast though.

    2) Obviously not, see answer #1, lol.

    3) I have no interest in St. Patty's day. Not sure why, I just never have.

  • @abrewer5 I hope all goes well with you and your dad!

@SmrBrd2012, that doesn't sound so awful. If your H needs to drive it for work, starting with low mileage makes sense. Also, aren't you from MA too? I had no luck finding good used cars when I was looking. They cost almost as much as new.
  • @Xstatic3333

Yep, I'm in MA. You're right- good newish used cars were comparable in price to some of the brand new ones! Just made more sense to go with a new one. We are really excited about it but not so excited about it taking a chunk out of our DP fund. It wasn't a terrible deal and I'm legitimizing it further by the fact that we ARE a one-car couple at least. :)

    2. We signed our wills Thursday which has been on the to-do list since May. I'm excited to have them done.

    3. H went to a party Saturday night. I don't think we're going to do anything else.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? $0. We had just gotten back from our cruise and we pretty much slept for two days. Haha.

    2. Any progress towards your goals? We are just waiting for H to get his next paycheck so we can pay off SL #6. As of the 1st we will have officially paid off 20k in a year as well as saved our 6 month efund. Go us!

    3. Happy St. Patty's Day! How are you celebrating? This marks 4 years since H and I started dating. He has his last mens league hockey game tonight. So I wont be doing anything except reading.

  • I forgot that we sold DD's little tikes play set for $75 yesterday.  That money goes towards the wooden swing set we got her for her bday.  We got a hell of a deal on that.  We saved $450 on the purchase, will apply the $75 towards it,  grandparents have donated $400 which means all we paid was $400 :)

I eat like a child.  It's kind of bad, actually.  But the cinnamon sugar poptarts are ridiculous.  I spent 8 hours in the car with 3 other coworkers who are pleasant, but who I don't know well.  I decided I deserved it...

that would make me nauseous if I only ate a pop tart, plus it wouldn't fill me up.
