Do you celebrate St Pattys Day?
What do you think about all of the sponsors (especially beer companies) pulling out of certain St Pattys Day parades this year?
Eta: an article about Guiness pull out of the NYC parade.

Re: QOTD 3/17
As for the parade, I am glad they they pulled their sponsorships. I mean everyone else in the parade can say what organization they represents, so why can't gay and lesbian groups? I mean leprechauns do live at the end on the rainbow which is the gay pride symbol. Lol.
As for the NYC parade. It is organized by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, traditionally an Irish-Catholic organization. The organization follows the teachings and beliefs of the Church. The Catholic Church does not support homosexuals. The organization is keeping up that belief. Although many people have made St. Patrick's Day a drinking holiday, it's not really. St. Patrick is the patron saint of the New York Archdiocese and the patron saint of Ireland. The AOH keeps to that tradition and not to the drinking, even though they have alcohol companies as sponsors.
I do agree that any groups who wish to participate should be allowed to march and show their pride for their cultural background. I agree that sponsors have pulled out. I don't agree that the city council is not supporting the parade.
Although reading a food post earlier has made me nostalgic for my honeymoon. We had dinner at an Irish pub the first night.
Glad to hear about the parade sponsorships. I had not heard too much about it until today.
DH has had a tradition since 21 that they all go to the parade in the morning and then pub crawl all day after. St. Paul has a ton of Irish pubs, so it's the place to be. I joined in this tradition when DH and I started dating. It's been a lot of fun. We had fun this year but I don't know how much longer the tradition will last. It was just DH, me and one of his friends. I shattered the screen on my phone trying to take a picture, it was cold out and I was ready to go home by 3. Once we have LOs I can't see this being something that we can do anymore.
