Re: What songs are you obsessing over now?

  • Obsessing over today or new songs we're obsessing over?  Just asking because I'm in an oldies mood today.

  • I need some new music!

    I am currently obsessing over

    - The Others by Birds of Tokyo
    - Come with me now by Kongos
    - Blue Moon by Beck
    - Disappear by The Cary Brothers
    - Woodpile by Frightened Rabbit

  • I made up a song in my dreams last night and I'm trying to remember it. Does that count?
    Other than that, nothing really.
My husband is a metal head, and lately I've latched onto the subgenre of power metal (I call it going on an adventure and slaying dragons metal)
    It's so melodic.

  • In either case, this is what I'm obsessing over today:

    Newer:
If I Needed You from The Broken Circle Breakdown soundtrack.
(This song kills me.  Movie killed me.  I don't think I've ever seen H so depressed after a movie ended.  It's a foreign film that was nominated for an Academy Award.)

    A little dated:
Last of Days by A Fine Frenzy

    Oldies:
She's Got You by Patsy Cline
All I Could Do Was Cry by Etta James

I've been going nuts trying to find an acoustic version of Samson by Regina Spektor that I heard on the radio this past weekend.

I honestly don't think it exists for real.  Doesn't exist on Spotify and I've even tried Googling it.

G Love's new album comes out in a couple of weeks and he's released 3 tracks from it so far.  "One Night Romance" is my current obsession.  It's a duet with Merry Clayton, who's the amazing vocalist from The Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter.  I can't get over her.

ETA: I've also been spending a lot of time with some of Dave Grohl's old punk/hardcore bands and influences, because I'm reading a book about him right now.  I think that's about to shift over to Nirvana, though, because I just got to that phase of the book.

I have to do a better job of organizing them into playlists.  I currently have a playlist called "Find a Place" which is exactly what I have to do...find a place for these songs.  My favorite is my Sad Love Song playlist.
