I need to vent about work- Update

I deleted my original post because I don't want everything out there. I do have an update though.

I spoke with our Director of Operations this morning and I have another meeting this afternoon. I got a little more heated/angry than I typically do at work, but I definitely was not out of line. Basically, if I stay they will give me about $10 more an hour, which is great for now. I'm not letting a raise keep me here long term. My meeting this afternoon is going to be with my customers and whether or not it's an option to take my current work to another company. My Director of Operations spoke to them immediately after he finished with me, so when they heard that I can either continue doing my work from somewhere else or quit, they were pretty open to making things happen. So right now I am just getting everything together to find somewhere else to work. If my current company wants to give me more money in the meantime then I will gladly take it.

Thanks everyone for letting me talk about this and for giving me a lot think about before I lost my cool at work. NBC really is the best

Do you want more money or do you want out? If more money all help you feel less resentful, walk in there and demand a raise. If you don't think money will help, then you should start looking elsewhere. You just can't leave things the way they are, you'll go nuts.

I'd demand a raise, and then get out. Use your 'new' salary as a starting point for negotiations for a new position. And yes, that's total bullshit.

Dude. That is MESSED UP. It makes me really, really mad that you stepped your game WAY up when you were "promoted" to do two jobs for the same crappy pay. FEMINIST RAAAAAAGE.

I would polish your resume with your awesome qualifications and start reaching out to your network to see what's out there. Your job will regret treating you like crap.

Find something else! Stress from work is no good. Working yourself to the ground is no good either. You have way too much life ahead of you to let work get you this much down.

@Lauren620 I was in a similar situation when I quit my job a couple years ago. The stress was so bad, I ended up in the hospital. It's not worth it. Life is too short. What they are doing is complete crap and I think you are being taken advantage of. Yes, money is nice but your health is more important. If you are like me, the stress is affecting every aspect of your life and it's just not fair to you and your relationships. Get out of there ASAP.

(But then don't be like me and quit and then find out you're pregnant a week later! Or DO do that and have a lovely 9 months to yourself.

Will you be able to pass off some of your "old" responsibilities to your sister?

If you could move some responsibilities to someone else AND get more money, would you consider staying?

I'd be so pissed too. I got out of my crappy job situation 2 years ago and it's been great, yes my job is very stressful but I get treated well and get raises. It's not always about the money but when it comes down to it, employers need to put their money where the mouth it sometimes.

Big hugs! Get out of there! I once was in a job that had me super anxious, getting panic attacks, sick to my stomach etc. Getting out of there was the best thing I did. You spend too much of your life at work to be so miserable and once it's affecting other parts of your life, it's definitely time to get out. Good luck and stay strong!

I say leave - but I agree with @RiverPlate that you should still demand a raise, immediately. Have you ever tried to negotiate higher? Something I remember from a college Sociology course has always stuck with me - that a theory on the remaining pay gap for women is due in part to women being less likely to proactively ask for more money.

@84Lauren I know that part of the problem was what I started out making. I was ready to move up when I was offered this management position and they gave me a 22% raise though, so I thought it was great. I just didn't know how much less money I was making to begin with. I have asked for more money, but not formally through an annual review so nothing was done.

@GreenBride624 pretty much no to all of your questions lol. My sister will be doing something totally different. I really hated to even bring her into it because I do want her to have something exciting to look forward to. Unfortunately, there are more people at my job right now that I don't like than I do.
