  • @luckyangel07 contrary to my previous statement, can you explain to me how easy it is to use these cups? I happened upon them on Amazon, and see the reviews with several women saying they have really heavy periods. Also, how would they work with a job that you sit most of the day? Can they be worn overnight or no?
    YGPM!

Do you care to give details on here?  I'm intrigued too.

  • You can't get PMs on your phone, right?
  • You can't get PMs on your phone, right?

You can get to them if you go all the way out to "Community" then it will give you the non-mobile page.  You can click on messages all the way to the right, but sometimes it will make you log back in again in order to access it (surprise!).

  • Dude, I've already logged in three times today! Wah!
  • Ah, I forgot your phone hates TN. Well, if it were to cooperate, yes you can go out to the Community main page to get them. It just doesn't notify you that someone sent one.

  • It won't let me do it. It's lame!
  • All right I'll post here! I just didn't want to go totally nuts (and it's kind of graphic).

    Bruin's PM:
I sit at my job, close to 11 hours per day between the train commute and sitting in front of the computer. So I can definitely attest that they work well whether you're sitting or standing. Or lying down, for that matter, because yes, you can totally wear them overnight.

It might take a couple of tries to get them in just right so there are no leaks, and I definitely botched it a time or two early on in using them.

What works for me is gripping the cup with my thumb and forefinger around the edge (not around the actual cup part, which is very flexible, but the edge is springier, kind of like a rubber bracelet) and pinching together so that it sort of forms a squashed oval with two sides touching. I sit on the very edge of the toilet with my thighs about parallel to the floor and knees bent. This sort of puts your vagina in better alignment to your cervix so that you can slide the cup in parallel to the floor. It's not like putting in a tampon where it goes straight up and down. You slide the cup in so that the opening is up when you're sitting down and then push it all the way back. You basically want the edges to pop back open once they're in there so they form a seal around your cervix, which can take a little poking and prodding to get it in the right position.

That's probably extremely vague, but it's very hard to explain without visuals! The boxes do come with illustrated instructions, and they helped me get it.

When you're ready to take it out, you just reach a finger in there, hook an edge, and draw the cup out. This can definitely be messy, especially on heavy days. I like to remove them over the toilet bowl, so anything that overflows when pulling it out just goes straight in there. Then I just wrap it back up in its wrapper and throw it out before putting the next one in. Then I obviously wash my hands, because of the mess factor of reaching up your hooha while it's in that state.

It definitely can take some getting used to, but if you're not very squeamish about a little period blood (and I'd be surprised if many of us were considering we check CM and whatnot!), it's NBD. My sister started using them soon after I did and she caught on pretty quickly once she had the right insertion technique.

If you need me to try to explain anything better, let me know! I'm sure my explanations weren't the greatest "user guide"!

  • I love that you had to specify to wash your hands haha! I think I might give them a go next time my period decides to show. Thanks for the information! I hate all feminine products (except you Always infinity, I will always love you!) maybe this will be better!
  • I hope you love them! I had a couple that I didn't get in right and they leaked like crazy, so give yourself a few tries to figure out the learning curve before giving up on them. I will NEVER use another tampon; they are so uncomfortable to me now!

And I can't do pads. I can do a pantyliner when needed, but pads just make me feel so gross. (lr) Having to wear pads while I m/c was like adding insult to injury.
