Reading Lottery Check In!
Re: Reading Lottery Check In!
What book did you end up with? The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Have you started it yet? I have already read it so I'm going to read another of his books. I am waiting for my hold to come in from the library.
If not, are you interested in it? Do you plan to actually read it? I've been meaning to read another of his books for a long time so I'm looking forward to it!
**What are your likes and dislikes about this whole reading lottery? Do you think this is something fun we should do every now and then? I would definitely like to do this again!
my read shelf:
What book did you end up with? Red Rising by Pierce Brown
Have you started it yet? Yes but only a few pages in to it
If so, how are you liking it so far? Is this something you would have picked up on your own? It seems good but like I said I'm only a few pages in. It is the type of book I would have picked up but I have never heard of it so therefore I wouldn't have picked it up.
If not, are you interested in it? Do you plan to actually read it? Yes, I will finish it.
**What are your likes and dislikes about this whole reading lottery? Do you think this is something fun we should do every now and then? I think it's great! I never would have heard of a lot of these books if not for this and never mind read any of them. I would love to do this again!
What book did you end up with? Special Topics in Calamity Physics
Have you started it yet? Not yet - I need to finish up Dreams of Gods and Monsters and then track it down at the library.
If not, are you interested in it? Do you plan to actually read it? Yes and yes!
**What are your likes and dislikes about this whole reading lottery? Do you think this is something fun we should do every now and then? I'm enjoying seeing what other people are reading as a result and like that some lesser-known books are getting highlighted. I'd do it again in the future.

What book did you end up with? The Eyre Affair
Have you started it yet? Not yet, but I just grabbed it from my library holds so I'm going to start tonight!
If so, how are you liking it so far? Is this something you would have picked up on your own? It's not something I typically would have picked up so I'm interested to get into it.
If not, are you interested in it? Do you plan to actually read it? I'm sure I'll actually read it
**What are your likes and dislikes about this whole reading lottery? Do you think this is something fun we should do every now and then? I really like the whole idea of a reading lottery. It gets people out of their comfort zones and picking up something they may have never heard of or would normally read. I agree with the above suggestion to go with genre though, that would be fun.
What book did you end up with? Paula by Isabel Allende
Have you started it yet? Not yet, I just had a half dozen library holds come in so I want to get through those first
If so, how are you liking it so far? Is this something you would have picked up on your own?
If not, are you interested in it? Do you plan to actually read it? I definitely plan to read it!
**What are your likes and dislikes about this whole reading lottery? Do you think this is something fun we should do every now and then? I think this was a brilliant idea and I love that the recommended books were so diverse!

Have you started it yet? Indeed I have I am 2/3s of the way through.
If so, how are you liking it so far? Is this something you would have picked up on your own? It's pretty good it's definitely one I wouldn't pick up on my own.
If not, are you interested in it? Do you plan to actually read it? NA

What book did you end up with? The Red Tent
Have you started it yet? Not yet! I have my copy from the library, though.
If not, are you interested in it? Do you plan to actually read it? Yes, I am definitely planning to read it, although it might be another month if I don't get to it before vacation (it doesn't seem like a beach read to me, so if I can't finish it before we leave, I'll wait until after to start it!)
**What are your likes and dislikes about this whole reading lottery? Do you think this is something fun we should do every now and then? I would love to do this again!

I recommended - The Museum of Extraordinary Things
What book did you end up with? - Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea
Have you started it yet? - No. I am on the waitlist at the library. I should get it soon.
How are you liking it so far? Is it something you would have picked up on your own? I don't know if I would have picked it up on my own, I tend to read a lot of fiction.
Are you interested in it? Will you actually read it? Heck, yes! I'm excited to read it. I've watched a TV special on North Korea before and have always found it fascinating.
Reading Lottery - Yay! Fun idea.

My read shelf:

Got: Code Name Verity
I haven't started reading it yet. Baby has been sick, so haven't been able to read much the last couple weeks.
I had heard of my book, but thought it was more paranormal/dystopian YA so I wasn't going to read it. But it's not, so I'm looking forward to it.
I think we should do it again. I like staying with an actual book instead of moving to genres.
