Re: TTC

  • Pregnant Girls:

How many weeks: 9 weeks, officially a fetus!

How are you feeling? Today great, but I forgot my snacks so hopefully I'll be ok. Pregnancy brain..

Rants/Thoughts/Bump pics? We are telling extended family this week.  DH's grandpa has been really sick, and if I'm being honest it doesn't look good.  We figured the family could use some good news.

I'm starting to have rollercoaster days of feeling awesome or feeling like a bag of crushed a-holes.  I'm holding on to a delusion that I'm going to wake up in three weeks (2nd tri) and a magical pregnancy unicorn is going to come pick me up and take me to a land of lollipops and sunshine.  No more headaches or feeling like doody!

  • Mommies:

How old are your LOs (Little Ones)? 9 months 3 weeksish....

How do you feel? good, almost to pre-pregnancy weight, i have 3lbs to go which i want to hit by may 8th which is my annual physical, i hate the scale, i dread it at the doctor's. My body will never be the same, even though im only 3 lbs away, my hips/thighs will never be what they were, the smallest jeans i have in my closet don't pull up, but thats ok, im getting used to the new me, and when we have another child, my body will just change again!

Any Milestones this week? she is now a full on crawler! the other day she tried to get in the fridge, something about that thing just attracts her to it, i have to make sure to get in and out, i open it and she will stop what she is doing and make a dash for the damn thing! I also think we need to lower the crib, i was watching her on the monitor and it looked like she was going to pull herself up and over!

CD/DPO: I'm pretty sure I've been calculating my ovulation dates wrong, so I'm not sure how many DPO it's been.

    W2O or 2WW? 2WW

Testing plans: testing on May 7

Chart stalks/rants/Thoughts:  I have a few pregnant friends and I can't help feeling a little jealous of them.  I was hoping someone would be pregnant around the same time as me but it's not looking that way anymore and I admit I'm a little disapointed.  My pregnant friends are all due this summer .

  • @christina if you post a chart or something along those lines we might be able to help!  We have a few resident experts in charting here on this board, and DH and I solely use charting, so maybe we could help you nail it down better?

  • I've never charted, I just use some online calculators/calenders which I'm sure aren't very accurate.  Can someone maybe tell me on average how long ovulation lasts? Also, does it occur right after my period ends?

There is no set answer to this.  Maybe this will help you understand how it works - http://www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Ovulation.html

The only way to really know when you ovulate is by charting.

  • Your cycle is basically two phases, follicular (before ovulation) and luteal (after ovulation).  The follicular phase varies from woman to woman, but the luteal phase should be consistent, and not too long or too short.  I think 12-14 days is "ideal" for the luteal phase.  This is a generalization, but basically the 4 days before ovulation, the day you ovulate, and 36 hours after that are the fertile window.  Sperm can live around 7 days, while eggs only live for a day or so.

If you have very short cycles, you could be ovulating soon after your period, but I think it's more likely a week or more after that.  You can figure out when you ovulate by taking your temp every morning, checking cervical fluid, and using ovulation predictor tests.  Temps are probably most helpful because it can actually confirm you have ovulated.

I would recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, checking out countdowntopregnancy.com, and fertilityfriend.com.  This all probably sounds like a lot but once you get the hang of it it's not so bad.  Also feel free to PM me if you have questions, nothing is too TMI for me, lol.

The girls have it covered @christinavy, but I was wondering last week when your two week wait was 3 weeks. Ovulation is a quick action, but there are things the body does to prepare for it that you can be aware of. If you aren't going to chart, at least understand the two parts to a cycle and that the LP rarely changes and is typically 14 days (though it varies for some). So if you guesstimate ovulation by taking your typical cycle length minus 14 days, that is better than assuming you o on cd 14 which is 2 weeks before a period on a 28 day cycle. But most don't have 28 day cycles!! For me, I usually o on cd 18. If We only had sex leading up to cd 14, we would be missing our window pretty much completely. For you, if you are expecting your period on the 7th, you are actually probably going to ovulate today or tomorrow.

Warning, again, this is all speculation too and the only way to know is by charting. I really liked charting temps but understand you don't want to. In the least, you could try using OPKs to give you a closer idea of when you are fertile and gearing up to o. That is all I did this cycle.

Good luck and let us know if you have any questions! I felt so empowered understanding what the hell was going on with my body when I learned all about this! I really like talking about it.

  • TTCers:

    Cycle/Month: 9/9 actively trying (10 including ntnp)

    CD/DPO: 24/6

    W2O or 2WW? 2ww

Testing plans: none. I fully expect another bust cycle so I'm hoping not to fret about testing leading up to AF.

Chart stalks/rants/Thoughts: nothing. I'm glad that I'm not temping this month because it is nice to not really focus on TTC other than Tuesdays because frankly, I don't have the time with all of the house buying/selling stress!!

I saw a lot of IF posts on FB last week and one blog really helped me since it related to how hard some of the "milestones" before the year mark are hard. I felt so nutty for getting upset before we are even to a year. It felt really selfish. Technically within the charting community they consider IF after 6 months of charting, which I've done, but that doesn't really matter to me because I want to give ourselves the full year. It's just nice to be able to hear other's experience.

  • Cycle/Month: Cycle 11/Month 16

    CD/DPO: CD 30/ 7 DPO???

    W2O or 2WW? maybe 2WW

    Testing plans: none.

Chart stalks/rants/Thoughts: I dunno. I don't really believe my chart. My sleeping has been a little wonky so I dunno. I've never O'd without meds before and didn't have ANY indication of O at all this cycle. When I have O'd with meds in the past, I always get more fertile CM and a very increased sex drive. I had none of it. I also don't have the super sore boobs and nipples that I usually do post-O.

  • @islandmonkey8 I'm always down for a chart stalk if you want to share!! That would be awesome if you O'd unmedicated! Is this still the cycle that you have to TTA though?

My chart is in my siggy if you click the ticker.

This was not a TTA cycle, just unwanted/unmedicated cycle because we went away for 4 friggin' days. If FF is right, we only hit O-2, which based on history, isn't enough for us.

  • I clicked your chart @islandmonkey...It looks really good to me, but I understand why you'd be extremely wary of it.  If this one is a bust, I hope your next one is your BFP :)

lwoehlk  I have gotten so obsessed with temping, taking a break sounds like a dream right now.  I would love to just relax and not worry about it!

I'm always on mobile so I will try to get on a computer later tonight to check it out. Well I hope it was enough!!

It's been as nice break. I really like temping because it gave me a complete picture and I did it for 6 months so I confirmed that I o, and have figured out my typical patterns, like I know I usually o within a day if my first OPK which made just using OPKs this month even more carefree.

  • Here's her post from last Tues:

    "Pregnant Girls:

How many weeks: 37 weeks, 5 days

    How are you feeling? Exhausted

Rants/Thoughts/Bump pics? H has been sleeping on the couch lately, because that is where he falls asleep and doesn't wake up again until the morning. It has been glorious, I get the whole bed to myself and my pillows. Well, last night he decided was a good time to come back to bed. I was miserable.  Luckily, this baby has to come soon and I can't be annoyed about being pregnant for much longer. "

So she's 38 weeks 5 days today.  Hope everything is going well!  If she is in labor, it's 38 weeks 5 days which is plenty of time, right?
