  • I'm 80% done with The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Not going to lie- I really don't like it. Can't wait to be done with it.  It's #29 for the year.

  • No challenges here. I'm listening to Salt, Sugar, Fat by Michael Moss and it's pretty interesting. It's narrated by the same guy who did The Passage, so I keep expecting some vampire-type creature to pop out somewhere.

Finishing Under the Never Sky if I ever have a lunch break ever again.

Trying to get back into Lonesome Dove. I like it but nothing really happens. I haven't forced myself to keep reading so it's been easy to put down.

I want to get through UtNS because I have The Dinner and Dreams of Gods and Monsters on cue.

No challenges or goals for me.

I'm still reading Five Days at Memorial.  I don't know that I can say I'm enjoying it, but I can't stop reading it.  It seems a little bit biased to me, and I'm not overly impressed with the writing, and the whole situation is a little horrifying, but overall it's fascinating.  I'm going to have a tough time rating this one when I finish.

I finished listening to Mr. Penumbra yesterday, and completely loved it.  What an excellent little story!  This morning I started Silver Linings Playbook, but I'm only about 20 minutes into the audiobook, so no opinion yet.

These are numbers 22 and 23 for the year.
  • Reading Firebird by Susanna Kearsley.  I like it so far and can't wait to read at lunch.

Reading Stanislavski Never Wore Tap Shoes: Musical Theater Acting Craft by Burke Moses.  It's helpful.  I'm terrible at acting and need some pointers.  This is a very practical guide, which I truly appreciate.  Kind of a "fake it til you make it" approach to acting.

Listening to And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini.  I'm about one disc in, and the book hasn't really captured my interest yet, but I will keep going.

I'm reading Siege and Storm. I'm not quite half way through yet.  I love this series so far.  I think it's right up there with The Seven Realms Series.  I figured when I finished book 2 I would have to wait awhile for book 3 to come out but when I looked it up yesterday her website says book 3 releases next month!  Awesome!

  • I finally finished 1Q84 (WTF was the point of that book??!!) and I wanted something light and fluffy next so I read Matched, and now am in the middle of Crossed.  They remind me of Divergent, but not as angry/combatant, esp. Matched.  I also picked up Dangerous Women from the library which is a collection of short stories by some of my (our) favorite fantasy authors such as GRRM, DG, and Lev Grossman, plus I grabbed a Meg Cabot book for some silliness.  I'm book happy right now.  :-D

  • I just finished listening to Wild by Cheryl Strayed (#13) this morning. I mostly enjoyed it, although I didn't care for her as a person in parts of it.

I started listening to High Country by Nevada Barr (#15). I'm only about 30 minutes in, but I think it will be a good read.

I'm reading Wish You Were Italian by Kristin Rae (#14). It's a lot of fun and really makes me want to go back to Italy.

I'm listening to and reading the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I started listening to it only but I had a hard time following all of the space/galaxy locations and species without seeing the words so I got the ebook from the library. It's much easier for me to follow now but it's taking me a long time. ETA: this is my "read a book written in the 70s" book for SBC. #12

I also started Death Comes to Pemberley last week while on vacation but haven't picked it up since I got home. I decided to re-watch the BBC Pride and Prejudice mini-series first :) ETA: this is my "read a book set at least 100 years in the past/future" book for SBC. #13

My book club book for May is The Dinner so I may start that this weekend... ETA: this is my "read a NY Times Notable book from 2012/13". #14

  • I brought home my lunchtime book, Eye of the World by Robert Jordan, so now maybe I can finally start making some headway.

The Bloodletter's Daughter by Linda Lafferty on my Kindle, and

I'm reading Dreams of Gods and Monsters and enjoying it but just haven't had time to read so I'm hoping for a few uninterrupted hours on Mother's Day.

I'm listening to Valley of Silence (#3 in the Circle trilogy) by Nora Roberts and I'm surprised how much I have enjoyed this series.  I started it thinking it would be cheesy but NR just knows how to write a great story!

They are #46 and 47 for the year.
