Also, My ILS are the best in the whole wide world.

Last week I mentioned that I wanted to buy Liam a pair of red Sperrys for the summer. Anthony came home with a pair of red Sperrys from my MIL yesterday. They ALWAYS do this. The second we say we need something for Liam, the next day they're out buying it for him. I love how much they love our kid.
My ILs do this too.  I'm sort of at the opposite end of the spectrum of appreciation.  I don't mind it every now and then, but it's too much sometimes.
My MIL and DH's aunt don't wait until I say something, they just buy stuff for DD.  Like an big fancy Easter dress.  Maybe, just maybe, I might've liked to pick out my kid's Easter dress, but that wouldn't occur to them.  And it's not that I'm not thankful (though I know that's how I sound), it's just too much sometimes, like you said.

I think that's exactly it.  I'm very careful of what I mention in front of them now because of how many times they've bought him something that I was excited to pick out.  I hate having to feel guilty over gifts.

Ditto. I don't even mention essentials (diapers) anymore because she expects to go shopping with me. That just turns into her buying him more stuff.
Its for this reason I haven't mentioned his birthday to her yet.

In terms of cell phone use, I am an incredibly crotchety old lady.  My phone exists to be convenient for me and for me alone.  If I don't feel like answering your call or text message, deal with it.  I don't have one to be available to anyone who wants to reach me 24/7 - I have it to use at my discretion in any way that makes me happy.  /end rant.
All of this.  Sometimes I have to be in the right frame of mind to respond to texts and calls.

And unless it's an emergency, I don't make a huge deal about people getting back to me either.

I'm the same way, Julie. I also always turn my phone to silent once I'm getting settled in for the night to further avoid having to talk/text people. That's my time and I don't feel that I need to be available at all times.

I don't really have this attitude at all, but then again my ILs don't give gifts with expectations. They just do it out of the goodness of their heart - I'm really grateful that he has that because not everyone is so lucky.

I am running a 10k in June and I haven't done more than 4 miles this year.  I am sooooooo not ready.

@booneybear You could probably run two 10ks in the time I run one.  TM training slowed me down BAD.

We close on our first home in 31 days. I can't believe I'm going to finally get my library and garden!

Tomorrow is my last day at my current job. I thought I would be super excited to leave and instead I'm feeling nostalgic and bittersweet about it.
Pics or it didn't happen. ;)
@SnShne322 - Oh believe me, you will all be the first ones to see pics! I'm so excited!
