Wtf OP? Game over if you haven't gotten pregnant by 30? You must plan on having a child that won't manage to graduate high school in under 35 years. I should go let DH know that he is shit out of luck because he was 35 when #1 was born and will be 37 when #2 is born.

You're whiney. What the hell do you plan to do for yourselves and lack of insurance regardless of the fact that you won't be pregnant? I mean, sounds like govt assistance. Maybe the big bang vaca shouldn't have been prioritized especially since you aren't child free to begin with. I never understand the "before we have a baby bucket list" especially in your case. But good job offending most of this board.

Honey, with a hissy fit like that, you're MUCH to young to try for another kid ANY time soon. Grow up a little, chill out, and stop insulting those of us who are going to be old parents. Be glad you're only 25 and already have a kid. Just think, it could be "worse".. you could be 33 like me (or older) and not have ANY kids yet, despite having tried for many years....

And get off my lawn while you're at it.

Seems like everyon got caught up on the "30" thing, and forgot to read the part where I said the husband is ready and is the one talking to ME about having more kids and houw much fun it would be. I am the one that needs to remind him we aren't in the best postion to have children. We've had open and honest conversations about having kids, hence the decision to wait, I just wish he would stop reminding me that time is passing by. Thank you to the few who replied with actually helpful advice, everyone else, your sarcasm was unnecessary and maybe you should have read the whole post before getting hung up on the first line.

And I never criticized anyone for being 30, I have accomplished a lot in my 20's and I am ready to keep moving forward with my life. I never said anyone was wrong for having kids in their 30's, I'm just saying that I don't want to be. I served in the Air Force for 6 years, have a degree, and I am happy with the progress I've made on myself, now I want to focus on my family. If that makes me a bad person, so be it. Excuse me for thinking this was a place to come for advice instead of criticizm.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... You did actually read your OP before you a) posted it to begin with, and b) before you posted your response to everyone else's comments right? See above for a few gems... Based on these particular statements, I'm not sure how you would have expected anyone to take things differently. The message I (and probably several others received) was that you want kids now, but YH wants to keep waiting, and you think that having kids at age 30 is 'too old' because you are anticipating your children taking 35 years to graduate from high school. In reading your response to everyone else's comments, it sounds like you maybe misspoke in your OP, and instead of getting pissed off at everyone for "taking things the wrong way", perhaps you should have re-read your own post and recognized where everyone's confusion was coming from and addressed that in your response?

Ditto this. Your post sounded like a bunch of whining about waiting to have kids. You completely buried your irritation at YH for bringing up his apparent readiness for another. And the bolded line? THAT is why people got hung up. That is massively insulting to say "game over" at age 30. That doesn't say "I'd prefer not to have kids past 30" (I bet you a lot of women here feel the same way!). It says, "Turning 30 means your screwed with having any kids."

No, I never thought I'd be 30 before I started even trying for kids. I wanted to be a little younger. But I didn't look to the future of turning 30 and think, "Oh man, my child-bearing years are going to be over at that point. I can't get to that point without having kids!"

Point being, you came to a board you obviously know nothing about just to whine about being so responsible and how much it sucks to have to wait. Next time, you might want to lurk and get a feel for a place before you start bitching about your life.

And FTR, no one said anything putting you down for your age having your first child, and no one said a damn thing about you having not accomplished anything else, so I have no idea why you felt the need to defend yourself by indicating you have a degree and served in the AF. Not a single person implied you hadn't gone to college/gotten a degree/have a meaningful career.

I'm apparently in the old lady home, too, considering I married DH at 31 and we're waiting another year to try.

OP, I understand your frustration, but your initial post came off as condescending and insensitive. I'm not surprised at all that you're offended that we "old ladies over 30" are offended.

I read the whole post. I got hung up on the 2nd last line where you talked about the 30-death-sentence.

And you definitely neglected to say that 30 is older than you had envisioned for yourself. I get it. My mom was done having kids 6 days before her 30th birthday. After trying for two years, I've been pregnant once and have no living kids, and I'll be 30 next month. It doesn't take long to click on a few posts around her to see who your audience is. It's all about being an effective communicator by knowing your audience (ohmgsh my teacher voice is coming out...).
