  • So, H and I aren't planning on TTC for another year, but I think I'm going to start prenatal vitamins soon. H is a Physician Assistant, and his primary care practice has weekly seminars on a variety of health care subjects. Last week, an OB office came in to talk to his primary care group. They discussed how that OB office recommends women starting prenatal vitamins 1-2 years before TTC. Since we are within that window, I think I'm going to start them now. It can't hurt, and I'm looking forward to the shiny hair that I've heard so many people talk about : ) Is there a brand that anyone recommends? I know that the folic acid, iron, and vitamin D levels are important, but I'll have to ask H what those levels are supposed to be (I can't remember what he said, and my Ph.D. was in brain stuff LOL).

  • I was just thinking the same thing @Nic!  We are on around the same timeline as you :)

  • I started taking prenatals while wedding planning.  Rumor had it that would help my hair grow faster.  Anyway, I continued to take them because it made my hair and nails healthier.  As for brand I can't really help you, I'm not picky about brand.

Right now I'm on the gummies because the regular pills were too hard on my stomach during 1st tri.  I don't recommend them unless you need something easier on your stomach as they are high in sugar.

  • @Nic12184 - all my levels were fine for my blood work so I just focused on the folic acid which is important from conception. I just got the gummies at target / Walmart. Like @seipel12 said, it's all I could keep down with morning sickness. I was told to switch to the pills soon for the iron. I was also told to find something with folic acid, iron and dha.

  • One of the bloggers that I read (Carrots 'N' Cake) just had a post about her favorite pregnancy products (she's a health and fitness blogger who just had a baby). She recommended Rainbow Light Prenatal One (LINK). Apparently, it's supposed to be easier on your stomach. Has anyone tried it?

I didn't try it but this was highly recommended on my birth month board.  A lot of girls said it was easier on the stomach.

ETA: Here is the link from when I asked my BMB about prenatals:

My doctor just recommended a general prenatal vitamin which contains folic acid.  I buy a store brand from the grocery store. But I looked at the ingredients listed and the MG of each thing before making a choice.

  • Yay @lwoehlk!!!! I am so happy for you!

    Pregnant Girls:

    How many weeks: 31 weeks

How are you feeling? Tired.  Walking at work is getting more exhausting.  Also, the lack of air conditioning is getting hard.  The air is so heavy and I am so sticky at the end of the day.  I only have 3 weeks left of work, I can make it!

Rants/Thoughts/Bump pics?  Went to the doctor yesterday and everything is on schedule :)  The baby is even head down, which doesn't mean much this early.  I was happy to hear the baby turned because I was convinced the baby would be breech and I would be forced into a c-section.
  • @lwoehlk‌ congrats!!!!!! How exciting! Happy and healthy 9 months!

    Pregnant Girls:

How many weeks: 35 weeks tomorrow!!!

How are you feeling? Tiring very easily! I feel like a need a nap all the time. He seems to be sitting very high at times and I feel him pushing basically right under my boobs...very uncomfortable! The past two days he feels like he is banging on the drums down low while also marching in a band up high...very annoying lol

Rants/Thoughts/Bump pics? Tomorrow starts my weekly dr appts. Next scan is scheduled for 3 weeks to check size of baby again. 4 weeks left of work if I make it that long!
