Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I'm starting to believe that home depot/Lowe's type home improvement stores stock only the more expensive items, and leave the shelves empty where the inexpensive ones should be.

I tried to buy a faucet yesterday. There are approximately 60 on display. In stock? Always the more expensive version of each style. I think they do this so lazy procrastinators like me just buy the more expensive item out of frustration and hopelessness.  I can't wait three weeks for a faucet to come in!

Sigh. I see that this is my own damn fault for not going in earlier, but I prefer to create conspiracy theories and blame someone else.

I used to be the one to order items at HD, and it was a huge PITA. There were certain groups of items where we couldn't physically order them, because a vendor rep had to do it, or they were on auto order based on how many items sold. Also, the display item counts as being in the inventory, so if there were none on the shelf. we had '1' in stock, and if they never sold (um, because we couldn't sell most displays), the system thought we just never WOULD sell one, so we never got it replenished. It was complete BS and I very frequently felt horrible for customers.

It's amazing to me how some businesses survive if this kind of logic is used for ordering.

My dog is a brat. Mia has a fairly small bladder so I normally leave her a wee wee pad for accidents. She is normally really good and either waits or uses the pad. I called out of work today because I am not feeling well and I am at home with the brat. Well, Mia decides that she is upset with me because I'm not in the mood to throw her bone so she can run and catch it. Mia decides to act out, squat and produce a puddle of pee RIGHT NEXT to her wee wee pad. Little brat.

It was also a pain if say we showed that we'd sell one item a week, but only had that one in stock to begin with, so our sales were basically just one in a given period. They'd then just send us one to replenish that, when really we probably could have sold 2 or 3 if we had it to begin with. It was the most ridiculous system EVER!

I think I'm taking my first barre class this weekend.  I'm a little scared.  I wish @booneybear wasn't running a 10k this weekend so that she could go with me.
Barre classes are the best!  They are really freaking hard. I always tell myself I'm not going to make it through starting like 5 minutes into it, but whenever I leave I feel awesome.  Not physically, my whole body is still a little shaky and I'm not sure my legs will make it to the car, but mentally I feel great for pushing through.  At first I was really self conscious going to the classes because of all of the Lululemon wearing model types that seem to not break a sweat, but I'm too busy shaking and sweating to notice them once class starts.

Haha, it's not super crazy or anything. I had an early morning doctor appointment (early for me anyway since I work 2nd shift). On my way home, I got French Toast sticks from BK for breakfast and decided to eat them in bed before taking a nap. I ended up getting syrup everywhere.

Totally ridiculous. No wonder the inventory issues exist.

I waited and got it from the library.  It was worth seeing, but I'm not understanding the fanatics associated with it.

I fell asleep during frozen.  I don't get the fuss either.  It was cute like most Disney movies are but I don't get all the hype.

  • We found out this week that part-time hours are being cut from 28 down to 19 hours per week at work.  Womp womp.  Polishing up the resume, but I'm super super super unmotivated to apply anywhere.  I've finally gotten into a groove and made weight loss my second job - I don't want to mess up my momentum.

  • The people who coordinate the ghost tours are stupidly disorganized.  Their office only had like 8 people and they can't get their shit together for anything.  I told them before I started that I had a conflict tomorrow night...and they scheduled me for a tour.  And I've told them again...but the tour is still there.  C'mon folks, this isn't hard!
