Ft. Rucker, Enterprise AL

My husband is applying for a job at Ft. Rucker.  He is a former Marine who is a flight instructor in KS currently.  He would not be in the military, but a contracted flight instructor.  
Does anyone have any thoughts on the area that can provide insight to the town?  
Things to do...employment opportunities, love/hate it? 
Thoughts?

    I live in Fort rucker right now. It's nice but it's the only base I've lived on so far so my opinion may not be relevant. The beach is pretty close by but it's very hot and humid here. People in Alabama are generally very friendly. I'm moving to KS in August.

    There isn't much to do unless you go to Florida though, at least in my opinion.
