Re: Thursday Randoms

  • Follow this relationship:  My coworker's daughter's classmate's father committed suicide last night.  If that wasn't awful enough, talk has been flying here at work (amongst people who have never met him) about how selfish and cowardly.  I'm seething about all their shortsightedness and cavalier-ness about the who effing thing.

  • I'm currently packing/taking a break from packing and as I was boxing up all of our board games I felt bummed that we haven't played them as much as we wanted to. I was so excited when we bought them lol. Need more game nights!

Move to michigan (or just come visit since you JUST bought your house haha). DH and I host game night at least twice a month most months.

Seriously. Here's our game shelves (and this isn't even all the games).

  • We have a massive amount of board games too.  They aren't organized yet though.  We are looking for a shelving unit that can fit inside a closet to store them.

We have game days at least monthly, but usually it ends up being weekly.

  • After posting that pic, DH and I broke out Forbidden Island and lost horrible. He played Forbidden Desert once, at a Mensa gaming weekend and they played for several hours and never ended up winning. I have heard is very hard to beat.

It's so so hard. We have Forbidden Island too and win that one more often than we lose it, but we've definitely lost that too. But yeah, Forbidden Desert is crazy hard.

Whenever we make a homemade pizza, we always take the leftover to work the next day.  J ALWAYS eats 3 pieces.  I ask him not to, and to eat something else if he's still hungry so we can both have 2 pieces for lunch.  It's such a small thing, but it drives me nuts.  I always hate finding out that my/our lunches are so damn small because he eats a ton for dinner and couldn't possible eat something else to fill the gap.
In our house, we each get a set amount of something. So, we would each get 4 pizzas of pizza. Whenever you choose to eat those pieces is up to you. If DH eats 3 for dinner, then he gets 1 for lunch. There is no way I would punish myself because he chose to eat three pieces. He would never learn to eat only two pieces if he got to eat three pieces for dinner and two for lunch every time.

Along with this... I wouldn't adjust your lunch because he ate more at dinner.  He can pack his own lunch!  :)

Maybe you guys need to get some bigger pizza.

Love Forbidden Desert!  We've only won twice, both times when we had a water carrier.

Ha! No. I guess I was just saying that there would be no repurcussions for his actions, so why would he change his behavior, as the OP seemed like she was trying to do with her DH. This has just always been the unspoken rule in our house, so I haven't had to "train" my DH to do anything. But now I really am craving pizza!

I guess I don't understand this idea of repercussions.  If my husband is hungry, I don't deny him food.  He is a bigger person than me, so I would expect him to eat more than I do.  I just figure shit out.  If I don't have lunch for the next day, I figure it out.

Sometimes the step-monster will eat the food I cook and other times he won't.  I no longer plan on him eating with us when I cook so, basically I cook for my husband and me, but if the step-monster happens to want some, I don't tell him that he can't because I was planning on taking it for lunch.  I would rather see my family eat as much as they want for dinner, than deny them so I can have leftovers for lunch.  I can always buy lunch.  It isn't like there isn't a pizza joint on every corner.
