I feel like the board has been so slow lately and we've seemed to have lost some regulars. Maybe we can lure some lurkers out into the open? Sooooo....what's new with you? Has anyone bought/sold a house? Anyone pregnant? Anyone just had a baby? Going on a cool vacation?

So many hours spent rocking 2 babies in that thing! But the couple who bought it from us were extremely grateful as their first baby was due in 3 weeks and the glider was the last thing they needed to get ready. I was happy that it was going to continue to be used.

Other than that, just full steam to the beach at the end of the week. I have a ton to do before then, so I'm sure these next few days will fly.
It is very quiet these days - I hope we're not losing momentum! It's so great to see updated pics, and hear new baby news, etc. etc.
We bought a house May 30 - finally own a wee bit of Texas. It's mixed feelings really, but home is where you make it. We were able to get a lot for our money, and the boys have a pool now which they are loving this summer. Work is plentiful for the DH and I'm still working remote. Toying with the idea of changing industries down here - supposedly I'm receiving an offer from a new job soon (trying to get into oil & gas), but with DH's unpredicatable schedule and Sean still being pretty young (18 months), working from home is working for us. The older two are home with me this summer and it saves us quite a bit of cash.
Conall will be going to preK-4 at Gavin's school in the Fall and it's full day, 5 days a week. *angels singing*
We got to enjoy my parents' 50th anniversary in Long Island a couple of weeks ago, and we are headed to Ireland in late September for a family wedding. Other than that - just trying to keep our heads above water with being back to owning, versus renting! And trying to unpack boxes. I hate boxes.
My three sons!
Heather's camp schedule is a little crazy, but she's getting to try different things and spend time with a variety of friends. Todd is at the science center this week - it's great to see him happy and confident there, with no clinginess at drop-off. I think he's going to really enjoy the challenges and new friends of Kindergarten this fall.
Heather and I just started the 5th Harry Potter book. I was going to try to take a break between books, but I can't see any reason to really.
My only frustration is that I'm having trouble making time to work on my knit and crochet designs. It's a lot slower than I would like, especially since I have up teaching. I'd also like to find time for more walks and to try yoga.
She also starts kindergarten in the fall, and I think I'm more excited than she is. She does so well with structure and routine, that summer really throws her off.
Nolan gave up his binky...and it was surprisingly easy. One night he was super tired and he didn't ask for it so we didn't give it to him and the next day when he asked for it we told him he was a big boy and that was the end of it. Nothing like the 4 month ordeal we had with Brinley. And since it's been gone he's been talking NON-STOP. He's also started a "why" and "but mama/but daddy" stage which was cute the first 40 times per day :-P
DH had a spot removed off of his shoulder and it turned out to be cancerous. That hit me like a ton of brick, but upon further research, if he's going to have skin cancer, he got the "right" kind. He has to have some additional tissue removed on the 18th, but then he should be free and clear. We'll have to watch for additional spots, but no further treatment will be needed. I wanted to cancel our trip to Presque Isle (which is next week!) but he wanted to still go, so I bought him a big floppy hat and a rash guard shirt to wear in addition to sunscreen.
I decided to drop my second summer grad school class and just focus on relaxing and having some fun until fall. I've also been trying like crazy to lose weight and it just isn't happening. I have an appointment this week to start looking into it. I have a lot of symptoms that point to hypothyroidism, and just recently found out that it runs heavily in my family. I'd love to figure out what my function is soon.
As for me, the hubby and I are full steam ahead on some house projects, nearly finished laying floor on the 2nd level (hopefully we will be done by this weekend). Then we can move everything out of the dining room and start on the kitchen floor. Slowly but surely I will have my dream white kitchen with farm sink and an island!
And in exciting news, I have really been working on my fitness and as of today have lost 25 pounds!
Hi! We moved to Houston last August. I am perfectly fine with the hotter weather - I think I'm still thawing out from 39 years up North. lol The humidity, though, is a bit much at times. I also cannot get used to how cold the a/c is in the stores; you seriously need to bring a sweater to go gorcery shopping!
And yes, the Mexican food is really good. I have yet to try a crawfish boil, but that looks delicious, too!
What part are you from?
And great job on the weight loss - maybe because you're not around the great Mexican food it helps? lol
My three sons!
We are almost done with our house updates - we just need to put the dining room back together, paint the basement, and get new carpet. It will be nice to have some sort of organization going on in our house again (although then I won't have any excuses to avoid cleaning).
My eating was awful over the holiday weekend, but I have kept up with my water drinking and and exercising. Our scale broke, so I have no idea how much I lost in weight, but I've lost about 9 inches. I am happy about that!
Mason starts kindergarten in the fall, and he is so excited, so that makes me happy. That being said, I am totally not ready! It's not going to be pretty for me.
I'm just over 12 weeks, and we just started telling people, so its starting to feel real. (We will tell our extended family this weekend and then the word will be fully out.)
