Ok I don't want to do an aw post but I'm a bit annoyed with MIL right now.  She was super sure this baby was going to be a girl.  Anyway, last night we met up with our parent and my one sister to reveal the sex.  I got a cute little baby boy onesie put it in a bag and had my niece open it for everyone.  (I felt bad she cried a little because she wanted a girl cousin.)

After the reveal MIL was like, "Are they sure?  Is there any chance they are wrong?"  The ultrasound was SUPER clear and there is NO denying that he's a boy.  The talk of sports came up because DH plays 3 nights a week so they were joking about how to work around both sports schedules.  My response was, "Well, he gets to pick if he wants to play a sport or not and he can pick one.  I'm not running around 5 nights a week for sporting events."  MIL actually mean mugged me.

First off, this kid isn't even born yet, chill out.  Second, sports are so expensive, I think one is fair.  I would rather take the money that would go into him playing additional sports put it into a college fund.  And 3rd he's going to have equal exposure to the farm.  It's really ridiculous to be like, "Baby has penis, must play sports."  If he doesn't want to be a part of farm or sports I'm not forcing him to.

I'm really worried how in my business the ILs will be with this baby.  She bought a crib for her house already.  We really don't go over there that often, and I'm hoping to breastfeed for a year. I don't anticipate many over nights in the first year, and if there are any, I could easily bring over a pack and play.  Did I previously mention that she said she was going to pick out things for the baby's nursery?  Seriously, this is my first kid and the nursery is kind of in my house, I'm picking all of that stuff out.

There have been a lot of little things and it's just starting to really annoy me.  I need an IL vacation.

  • @goatlady12 my friend is going through a very similar thing with her ILs. Her MIL bought almost a full nursery to keep at her house. She will be helping watch him some once my BFF goes back to work, but not enough to justify a whole nursery.

I'm sorry your MIL is being a PITA about this :-/ try to ignore her and let yourself enjoy this! You only get a first once, just tell her thanks, but you had your turn and this is something I'm really excited about H and I doing together (about decorating the nursery).

  • Can I have a Pregnancy sanity check?

Here's the issue - I thought my weekly appt was today, at 4pm and my GD class tomorrow at 130pm.  Nope, they are both tomorrow - I still think OB was suppose to be today.  I called and there's no way I can get from GD class to OB appt.  They have no opennings at either office until my next appt on the 30th.  So normally I'd be going every 2 weeks but with my GD, it's weekly.  Only now it's going to be 2.5 weeks!  I'm freaking out.  Mainly because I was so shocked with the GD I didn't ask any questions, but now I have a ton and wrote them down for today!  AND I'm going to NC next weekend and I want to make sure that's ok.

Am I crazy for calling the nurse's line to see if they can push to squeeze me in before I leave for NC?  Or at least go over my questions?

  • @Mana8503 I don't think you're crazy at all. Believe me, the people who go to H's practice call for MUCH more really stupid things than that. This isn't stupid at all.

Thanks. I did call this morning and they never called me back. So I just left another message. I'm calling again in an hour if no call back. I really hate them now. They never call back, it took them 2 weeks to tell me I was a diabetic... This should have been handled before my 31st week...

    /first time mom crazy rant.

Yea, 2 weeks. I got the 3hr done June 28th. I was told no news is good news. At my appt on the 11th they were like oh your diabetic. Say what?!

I had to call the receptionist to tell the nurse to freaking call me back. "oh but we have you on the waiting list for an appt". I don't care I want to talk to the nurse, that's why I called and left her a message.

I ended up crying on the phone at my desk because they still don't tell me anything. "Just to ask my questions tomorrow at the class" . "Just eat healthy and I'll be OK" . Really?! Am I the first GD patient you've ever had?! There are girls on my board that have been monitoring themselves for weeks. I don't even have guidelines or a meter. She wouldn't even tell me if this causes complications for birth... "Just cross that bridge if you get to it".

I'm definitely bringing it up whenever I get my next appt. This is just ridiculous to me.

Ugh. I'm sorry. That is just a bunch of crap. No one should be treated like that!

  • @mana8503 I would be so frustrated!  I am sorry that your doctor's office is not being responsive/helpful.  When you go get to see your doctor, let them know.  Sometimes they are not aware that their front desk staff is not being helpful.
