  • Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.  It's a romance book about a prostitute and a farmer set in 1850 California - a retelling of the story of Gomer and Hosea from the Bible.  I'm actually really enjoying it.  The story is heartbreaking at times and has some surprisingly dark themes for what is billed as a Christian book.  I thought it would be sappy, but it is not.
  • Still reading Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power.  It's been over a month, I'm pretty sure.  And I've had less than 100 pages left for at least a week.  With everything happening with DH, I never have time to read anymore, and since I don't get to sleep through the night anymore, I don't even want to read when I get in bed at night.

Just finished listening to TKAM yesterday afternoon.  God, I love that book.  It had been years since my last re-read, so I'm really glad I picked it up.  It was great as an audiobook, BTW - Sissy Spacek narrated and she has a perfect voice for Scout.  For my next audiobook, I think I might try and pick up Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.  I listened to her other two, so I feel like I should just keep with that trend.
  • Same as last week and the week before that: The Goldfinch (I'm halfway done!) and Ruin and Rising.

Lots, lots happening outside of a book these days.

  • I just finished The Clockwork Princess (Infernal Devices #3) and I am wrecked.  TOTALLY WRECKED.  I can't even begin to process my emotions.  I kind of just want to curl into a ball with a giant bottle of gin and rock myself into a stupor.  I am wrecked.

I don't even know how I am going to pick up another book at this point.

  • Refreshing myself on the books I'll be teaching this fall. Not that exciting, but it's amazing how much I've grown and learned since finishing the course as a grad student (esp. now that I've been working in my field for two years).

  • I'm reading Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo, and listening to Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness. #26 & 27 for the year.

  • I had to put down the Black Dagger Brotherhood Insiders Guide because FOUR books came in at the library at the same time!  I will never understand how that can happen.  Anyway, I started Code Name Verity last night, then I have Just One Night, The Wise Man's Fears, and Attachments waiting.

I'm listening to Dragonfly in Amber.

  • I am reading Gravity by Tess Gerritsen. It is #25 for the year, and for the SuBC challenge. I like it better than I thought I would. I started reading her for the Rizzoli and Isles series, so this book is a completely different direction. We shall see.
  • I'm reading Brotherhood of Fear by Paul Grossman.  I just started it last night and it's a little slow but I think it will pick up.  It is #47 for the year.

  • I'm still reading Life after Life for IRL book club but can't seem to get into it and am confused. I'm also reading Orange is the new black and am about a quarter done. It's pretty good! They're numbers 32 and 33 for the year.
  • Just started The Book of Life last night.  I'm not far enough in to make up my mind on it, forgot some details from the last books so it's a little hard to get going.

  • I'm on chapter 3 of Morning Glory by Sarah Jio. It's #29 for the year.

I'm also rereading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone since I keep forgetting my book at home and have been reading on my Kindle app lol. I think I'm going to slowly reread the series as I read other books. I've never been able to read two books at once but we'll see.
