Re: Happy Friday! What are you reading?

  • I'm in a rut right now, but I think I'm going to start a series that @elistar told me about.

It's either that or re-read Daughter of Smoke and Bone so that I can finally read the following two books and finish the series.

  • I'm reading Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. It's so depressing. #45 for the year.

  • I'm reading The Giver. I'm not sure how it's possible I've never read it before, but I'm enjoying it and how quick it is. It is #39 for the year.

  • I finished the Remember Me trilogy by Christopher Pike. I really liked it. I think it was somewhere around ninety for the year. I haven't picked up anything else yet. We move into our new apartment here in Maryland on Monday and I am excited to pick up a library card soon!

I think I've read Remember Me approximately 90 billion times.  My childhood best friend and I were obsessed with Christopher Pike in junior high.  R.L Stine, too (Fear Street books).

I re-read Remember Me a few years ago.  Still loved it!  The second one wasn't great though and I never read the third.

I am reading Rant by Chuck Palinuck (I have no idea how to spell it). I am about to start a new kindle book, I think it is called Fledgling.
  • I'm reading Silver Shadows (Bloodlines Series)  I just started.  This will be #40 for the year.

  • Currently reading:

    - Coolidge: An American Enigma by Robert Sobel (for my presidential challenge)

    - Ripper by Isabel Allende

    - The Boys in the Boat: Nine Americans and Their Epic Quest for Gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by Daniel James Brown.

I just started all three so I don't really have an opinion on any of them yet.

These are books 83-85 for the year.

  • I'm reading The Wise Man's Fear and I'm not loving it. I think I just need to be done with it. The book is great but it's just not something I can really get into.

I'm listening to Dragonfly in Amber as a reread.

  • I have way too many on the go due to library holds.  I am reading Kiss of Midnight which is ok so far and The Pillars of the Earth which I'm really enjoying but only reading a little each day.  I also just started The Book of Life and I'm a little confused too since it's been so long since I read the last one.  I also found a funny one at the library the other day and had to get it since my DS was driving me crazy that day.  It's called I Heart My Little A-Holes by Karen Alpert and it's definitely not your average parenting book!

I read the HP and the Sorcerer's Stone and nada.  I probably sound super whiney, but whatever I don't know what to do to get out of this funk!

ME TOO! I seriously can't remember the last book I finished (aside from audiobooks).

My Isla hold is ready at the library, so I'm hoping it will pull me out of this rut.

  • I am almost done with The Paper Magician, which was one of the Kindle firsts. I really really enjoyed the beginning as the MC started her apprenticeship as a paper magician. Then it got weird. I'll reserve final judgment until I've finished, but it's a shame because it started out so good.

I'm also reading Sons of the Profits. I picked this book up after taking the Underground Tour in Seattle. It is sort of an informal "history" of Seattle. I'm liking it so far, despite it not being the most well-written nook ever. It is funny and keeps my interest, so yay!
