Do you coupon?

I clip coupons every week before heading to the grocery store.  Sometimes, I can use them, sometimes I can't.  Once, when I was really into it, I got 4 tubes of toothpaste for $0.17.  Nothing like that since.  What about you?  Do you coupon?

I do pretty frequently (about 50% of the time I grocery shop) getting them from coupons.com.  (I'm lucky that the grocery store nearest me doubles coupons under $1.00.) The biggest obstacle for me is that they expire so quickly!

  • @als1982‌ copying coupons is illegal. Just wanted to let you know that. It's considered fraud- you are essentially printing $, and because it is a bad coupon the store doesn't get reimbursed for it.

I coupon a ton. I love coupon ing at cvs- I tend to get my best deals there, but I also do pretty well at target.

  • I use e-coupons through my grocery store's app that I have on my phone. My grocery store also mails me coupons regularly. I use Cartwheel, mobile and printable coupons at Target. Target also mails me coupons.

She said she printed coupons and then makes copies. You can't copy coupons. But yes, I print lots of coupons from coupons.com. You can only print 2 from a computer so the manufacturer can limit the number of prints. If more coupons are redeemed than the manufacturer allowed to be printed then the store doesn't get reimbursed- hence stores hating couponers and stricter coupon policies because of abuse.

  • I basically just use Cartwheel myself.  I love it.  Once, on the day I was going to stack my pharmacy rewards with my red card and Cartwheel, there was also an in-store text coupon for bulk paper towels and my head just about exploded.

Other than Cartwheel, I find they don't tend to print a lot of coupons for the foods I like to buy-bread, rice, produce, etc.  We're also on the mostly organic bandwagon so that is limiting as well.  I do think I've gotten really good at finding bargains and eating the way we want to eat affordably, but coupons don't really play in.
  • I tried couponing couple years ago, but I found that a lot of the coupons were for things we don't eat.  Lots of snack foods, frozen meals etc.  I look for sales while at the store.

Also, never fails, whenever I do have a coupon for something I can use, I either a) forget to take it with me when I go to the store, or  b) it expires before I get a chance to use it.

  • I like to do it as well.  I basically only use my safeway online coupons.  Once in a great while I would use coupons.com but it became a hassle since my safeway doesn't double.
  • I make my grocery list first and then I see what I have coupons for.  I go on websites like coupons.com and I cut them from the sunday paper.  At our grocery store for every $500 you spend you get $10 coupon on your next trip.  When I go to target I use their cartwheel, mobile coupons, manufacture coupons if I can find them for that trip, and the 5% red card.

If I do an impromptu shopping trip to a clothing store or hair store or even a restaurant, I go to retailmenot.com and check for coupons at that specific store.

  • If I remember I will look up coupons on Coupons.com, but usually I don't. I also keep forgetting to buy our Sunday paper. I use a few different apps to get rebates and money off on my phone. Currently I'm using Cartwheel, Ibotta, Checkout51 and the new Walmart app. With Ibotta and Checkout 51 you choose the products you bought that they have savings for, take a picture of your receipt, and then they will give you cash back on that product. Once you hit a certain amount you can cash out. I've already saved about $10 in one month from those two apps alone. I just found out about the Walmart app yesterday, and we used it on a large purchase today. You scan your receipt, and then Walmart searches the circulars of nearby competitors for lower prices then they will credit you the money.

I do.  I'm not an extreme couponer, but I plan my trips to save as much as I can - usually $30-50/trip.  I do all my shopping at Target and only go to the grocery store once a month for a few items I can't get at Target.  I get coupons from Target's website, Coupons.com, and I go directly to company websites and print their coupons for items I buy a lot.  I use Cartwheel, Target mobile coupons, and my Red Card too.

  • Yes I do! I cut them out of the paper every Sunday and I also load digital coupons onto our store card from the stores online website. I also do the same for  CVS.

If we order things online, I always try to look for a coupon code for the website we are ordering from, that works out really well sometimes.

I also check for cash back deal on bank of America's website for things we buy with our debit/credit card

  • I use the Target Cartwheel App, Target Red Card, and Ibotta. I also use the BJ's coupons when I know I will use those products.
@beetee123 I didn't realize walmart has that app. I shop there at least once a week to get some perishable foods that I cannot get/used up before my next monthly shopping trip. I will have to look into that.
I would also like to get into Checkout 51.

  • I just started getting serious about couponing.  I used to lose and forget coupons and didn't make much effort to use them.  Now I'm kicking myself about how much money I could have been saving.  In the past month, I've saved about $20 to $30 each week on groceries by pairing store sales with coupons.  I also saved $20 at Hobby Lobby by looking up a coupon before I went to the store.  That is about $100 in one month!

I do all my shopping at Kroger, which allows you to download coupons onto your Kroger card.  They also give you fuel points for purchases made there (I used to not get my gas at Kroger and let these go to waste. *face palm).  I also have the Checkout 51 app and use www.inboxdollars.com to get coupons (which gives you cashback when you use the coupons).

I love coupons and couponing! I had always used coupons here and there but about 3 years ago I became an extreme couponer. I have a binder that I store my coupons in and go through it every week. I am fortunate enough to live where I can get the newspaper at the dollar store or even free at the local library every Saturday. I buy 4 newspapers a week and look at thekrazycouponlady.com for match-ups. Since Albertsons stopped doubling coupons it has been harder to get a lot of things for free however, Target is my number one place to coupon at. I can stack a manufacturer coupon, target coupon, and cartwheel then add my team member discount and the 5% red card. About two weeks ago I got 8 packs of the skippy single serve peanut butter (6 in a pack) for about $2.00 total. I also learned that buy one get one free coupons sometimes give the whole value at Target even if it is over the cost of the item. They won't give cash back but it goes for overage for the other things I buy. I looked it up and talked with my team leaders before doing it and they said it was legit bc I could show it in their policy. I even keep my part time job there because my discount comes off the price of the item after the Target coupon but before the manufacturer coupon. It can be time consuming but it is worth it usually! Sorry for the novel, I'm just really passionate about couponing and saving money!

I don't really coupon, but I would love to.  I've watched Extreme Couponing before and was so jealous at how cheap they got their groceries.  I'm at a loss really of how they do it.  How were you able to get 4 tubes of toothpaste for so cheap?  Don't most stores or coupons say that you can't double them?  Has anyone figured out their whole couponing system? I need the secret!! lol :)

I love to do coupons and couponing ! I had always used coupons.I became an extreme couponer. I have a binder that I store my coupons in and go through it every week. my Hobby is for looking up a coupon before I went to the store. my favourite coupons site is ChameleonJohn.com it helps me to save more before i went to store.
  • I never coupon and I realize that I should start doing it. 4 tubes of toothpaste for 0,17!! Thank you for all the websites you are all sharing!
  • This is a great website, but sometimes the links and stuff don't work. Anyone have any other sites for couponing? I really need to get into it.
  • @chloestoes, part of the reason that the links don't work anymore is that people search and find old posts. this one is old, but not that old so probably most of these work. If you want to start a new couponing discussion to ask your questions I would suggest that. However, to answer your question here, I use 2 main websites. My favorite is southernsavers.com and my favorite store to coupon at is CVS. They have a great coupon policy, they issue store coupons, and with the extra bucks you get back you can sometimes get stuff for almost free.

  • I personally use three of them retailmenot.com, goodsearch and couponlawn.com. Hope this helps :)
  • I mainly use the store coupons that I am sent.  The nearest Target to us is just starting to have a decent grocery section and almost no fresh fruit or vegetables so I don't go there.
  • SITB I don't think I created, lol.
Although I am big on searching for coupons for online purchases, as big a bargain shopper as I am, grocery store coupons are too much time for too little money for me to be bothered with...plus the cost of a Sunday paper, which I don't usually buy.  I think they make a lot of sense for families, but it's just me and my DH, no kids.  On the rare occasion I do have a Sunday paper there are usually only a couple coupons on items I actually buy.
Coupons are almost always for packaged foods and cleaning products, which I just don't buy much of.  Especially cereal.  Goodness, I swear it seems like half the coupons are for cereal, lol.
I WISH there was a Target closer to me.  I see people talking a lot about their Cartwheel.  The closest one is 15-20 minutes away (without traffic).  Not too bad...there used to be NONE...but its still too far to make a handy grocery stop.
  • I am also a big fan of coupons and in today's world there are many sites that offer coupons and we can easily get up to 50% off deals during back to school, blackfriday and special sales. I usually use retailmenot and couponcodeday.com to find online coupons. The best tip is shop during the sales season.
  • I coupon very little but I would love to learn more. Did anyone get the coupon from the Nest from Shutterfly today? If anyone is not going to use theirs, can I have it please?
  • Last week I used Urban Outfitter coupons (http://www.coupofy.com/urban-outfitters-coupons) from Coupofy to get 20% off. yuppie
