Happy last Friday of August! What are you reading?

It's hard to believe there's only 3 weeks of summer left! And end of August? The summers just flying by! So what do you think of the book so far! Is it for any of the challenges or just fun?

  • I need to start something good today.

I am trying to work on my Calvin Coolidge bio which I keep neglecting.

And I am trying to make some progress in my IRL bookclub book Painted Horses by Malcom Brooks, but it sucks really hard.

So I need something good that is going to grab my attention.  I may have to start Voyager today.

  • I am trying Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta again.  I am having a difficult time getting into it, so if I am still not interested after about 30 more pages or so I am going to move on to something else.  Either The Beautiful Ashes by Jeaniene Frost or The Paper Magician.

I've also been neglecting my James Madison bio.  At this rate the presidential challenge will take about 20 years to complete.

  • Still reading Silver Shadows.  I need to up my gym time so I can read more.  I can fly through a book on the elliptical and it makes me forget that cardio sucks.

  • Recently started listening to The Silkworm (Galbraith), and I'm towards beginning of Marina (Ruiz Zafón). Both are meeting expectations -fairly good.

Planning a trip to Ireland & the UK so I have downloaded but haven't started my first Nora Roberts- Born in Fire, hoping I'll get the picture and psych myself up more about it.

    These books are #46-48.

It's set in the village of Ardmore with just a touch of magic.  I also imagine Ardmore to be a bit bigger than Ennis the the series you're about to start.  I think the Born in series was the first or second series I ever read by NR.  It's the one that really hooked me though.

  • Reading: A Song for Sophia by Moriah Densley. I don't often read historical romance, but I really love this one.

Listening to: WARP: The Reluctant Assassin by Eoin Colfer. I'm about halfway through and starting to get really into it.

I had the same problem with Finnikin. It had a lot of elements that I liked separately, but it moved so slowly for me. I ended up liking it overall, but it definitely took quite a while to get into.
