  • So, I'm super nervous still. Actually more so every day, but I want to start doing these check ins. Maybe they'll help me be more excited then nervous.

Hugs, dear. I faked the excitement for about the first 20 weeks. I just let others be happy for us, even when I couldn't. I didn't engage in many PR/baby conversations in that time, because my PGAL brain just couldn't do it.  Take it one day at a time.

  • @simsk3887 - my SIL used Tomme Tippee and I loved them! I registered for them as well. Her son was super picky after breast feeding and he wouldn't take any bottles besides those.

As far as the pressure goes I didn't experience exactly what you describe, but pregnancy is painful at times and weird. IF your dr seems ok with it and it isn't getting worse I would try and go with the flow and work on techniques to control the pain.  Also make sure you are pooping regularly. I know kinda TMI but constipation is a very common problem during pregnancy and can be painful. Increase water and fiber in your diet and see if it helps.

As far as ultrasounds the anatomy scan is really the big one, some practices do a a growth scan in late 3rd tri to make sure LO isn't too big, but not everyone does. Your fundal height should give a clue if that is a possibility it.  Internal checks are honestly not really necessary unless you have a history of incompetent cervix and then they would be checking you early and often.  But that is a rare problem.  It is standard of care to start checking in late 3rd tri- mine start this week at 36weeks and then weekly, but that is more to monitor for progress of dialation and to give a better idea of if inducing will even work.  But the progression of dilation is so variable there is a lot of questions about how valuable the checks really are.  Every time they do an internal check there is a slight risk of introducing bacteria that can harm the baby and pregnancy which is why they only do it in late pregnacy or if medically necessary.
