Weekend plans?

Is anybody doing anything fun for Valentine's Day and/or President's Day?

Re: Weekend plans?

  • Tonight: Pizza night with H.  Hopefully decompressing for an absolutely crazy week for both of us.

Tomorrow: Handyman is coming to start the installation of canned lights through the rest of the house.  I have a 30% off coupon from Kohls, so we're going to see if they have any work pants I can use.  We also have tickets to the symphony for Valentine's day, and H is planning on cooking me a nice dinner in beforehand (steak!)

Sunday: Probably more work and studying.  Maybe straightening up the house.

Monday: I have to work, unfortunately, and it looks like one of the partners is going to send me to a city meeting instead of him for something I have literally no clue about (I don't even know which client it is for).  That should be fun...

  • Nope!

We were barely able to make our savings goal and had to seriously cut back in other catagories this month. We will be sitting tight this weekend and watching the snow storm.

  • We went to the symphony Wednesday to celebrate H's B-day and decided to call that our official Valentine's plans too.

But H is going to make us homemade alfredo pasta on Saturday and we'll probably get a redbox. Then celebrate together at home ;)

I'm not off work on Monday so bummer there! But we'll probably use the last of our wedding giftcards during the online president's day sales to get some new clothes that H desperately needs.
  • Today, got my student id and parking pass, running errands, and found out the dentist won't do the simple extraction. They said I have to have surgery. I can't even begin to think of how much that will cost. Oral surgery is 80% covered but I don't know if sedation is covered and how much that 20% will be. Hopefully the pain pills they gave me will kick in soon. Tomorrow and Sunday I will be cleaning up the house and yard, it's supposed to be good weather.

The nonprofit I work for has its annual gala every year on Valentine's Day weekend, and I'm technically on the events team, so my day today and weekend will be entirely dedicated to that. We don't have holidays off, and post-event is just as much work as planning so I'll be in the office bright and early on Monday. I do get to escape the office for a bit to observe a heart surgery, which I'm really excited about!!!!

We both get off early today and are headed to the lake to camp with a couple friends and their cousin.  ( @hoffse we have had a crazy week too!!)

We are staying there tonight, tomorrow night, and leaving Sunday morning.

  • Tonight: No plans.  So I will clean.  Story of my life.

Tomorrow:  We have plans to sit down to breakfast with my parents and discuss the future of the farm now that my brother isn't here to take over.  We have to decide whether or not it's in our best interest to have my H come on to take over, or set up someone else.  I really have no idea how I feel about the whole thing.
Then my parents are helping me get some last minute house things done, and H and his dad are working on rebuilding the staircase in the room we're remodeling.
At night we have plans to make the 1.5 hour drive to meet my BFF and her boyfriend halfway between our houses, and go out for pizza and to see 50 Shades.  I really don't think the boys have any clue what they're getting themselves into in that theater.

Sunday: Church are our only plans.

Don't mind at all. :-)  Hopefully the movie isn't bad, because the books were horribly written.  Yet I was still sucked in and trapped, and finished all 3 of them.

I went to see it last night and it wasn't bad. I fully expected the movie to cover the entire first book and (spoiler alert) it doesn't, it covers about half. I personally didn't think there was any chemistry between the two characters which made it kind of awkward to watch. Overall I'd say it was ok, I'm not mad I went to see it, but the books hooked me way more than the movie.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone so I'll just leave it at that. :)

ETA: The guy they cast for Elliot was all wrong. I saw him and I was like no, no, NO. Not at all what I envisioned. To me the guy seems more like a stoner loser than a heart throb, carefree kinda guy.

    Friday- Working

Saturday- Working day/afternoon...depending on the snow (AGAIN!) we may go out to eat or get take out

Sunday- Not sure if I'm working, but I may have to call out...tired of the snow....

    Monday- Working

  • Tonight: Dinner and a nice fire at home

Tomorrow:  No plans.  We'll hang out at home and I'll get some work done.  I had to bring a lot home since H's car died completely and we were a one-car family until we could  get another one.

Sunday: Church.  I'm supposed to have a dive class but sounds like it will probably be snowed out.

Monday: Nothing except working at home.

Tomorrow: I'm planning on relaxing and cleaning, and maybe go to the grocery store in the morning before all the crazies take the milk, bread and eggs. The snow is supposed to start sometime in the afternoon, so I just want to hang around and play with the kids.

Sunday: Doing nothing all day. Maybe check out the ads to see what kind of sales are out for Monday.

Monday: I have off. I'm planning on shopping for new work pants and shoes. Just got a fill in job and need much nicer attire than I have been wearing.

  • For background, my husband and I are currently in the process of renovating our first home, we purchased a foreclosure at the end of December and are finishing up. Needless to say, it's been an overwhelming experience! He's a teacher and school administrator so he works several days a week from 6:30 - 8:30/9, with no time in between to field phone calls or make snap decisions, meaning 90% of decisions/problems have been falling on me! He knows it's been difficult on me, as I have a stressful job already.

He called me at work yesterday to tell me I was "all set for Saturday". I asked him what that meant, because I hadn't asked him to do anything on Valentine's (usually I like to order in pizza and avoid the crappy service and undeservedly expensive pre-fixe meals).  He told me not to worry, that he knows I've been overwhelmed and he appreciates all the work I've been doing on the house, so he's set up a great day for me at an undisclosed location in the most adorable town near us! He won't tell me what exactly I'm doing or where I'm going because he knows I'll snoop, but he has confirmed that the first part is just me, and he will be meeting up with me in the evening for dinner.  So, clearly, I'm not sure what I'm doing this weekend - but I'm looking forward to seeing what he's got up his sleeve!
  • brij2006 - so funny the guys have consented to go see 50 Shades! However, I did tell my husband I'd prefer to watch that in the comfort of our own home ;)

At this point my BFF and I are calling their bluff.  They both said they wanted to go see it with us because they wanted to see what all the hype was about.  We originally had planned that us girls would just rent it some weekend and watch it.  Now there's no backing out for any of us.

This sounds like a potentially hilarious situation. Enjoy, and let us know how it goes!
  • We went out earlier this week to Olive Garden for Valentines day, between a $4 off coupon, $25 gift card and cash for eating out it was a good deal.

Today, came home and finished going through my old cards from over 20 years ago.

Tomorrow is swimming lessons for son, wife will handle this while I lift weights.  Then we have a contractor coming to give us a quote to replace our roof.  Finally, we get to babysit my SIL while my ILs celebrate their anniversary and Valentines Day.

Sunday, it will be extremely cold so I will most likely go to church again by myself then work on culling more of my books.
  • Fri: stayed in, low key - had a crazy week!

Sat: doing something earlier in the day to avoid the craziness. Probably checking out a new coffee shop and maybe walking around the antique shop downtown.

Sun: church, grocery shopping, hopefully in the rest of the day.

    It's been freaking COLD!

  • Update - Saturday's surprise was, in fact, a spa day, complete with a massage, facial, mani, pedi, blow out and makeup application. The day was complete with a champagne brunch with a grilled chicken salad. The unexpected splurge is not quite MM appropriate, but definitely appreciated for this stressed-out lady!  :)
