Re: Monday Accountability
2. Not this week, but one more week til I get to contribute to savings again!!!
3. In New England we have lots of annoying weather but rarely a disaster. Some blizzards toy with disaster status but loss of life is rare. Same goes for hurricanes, which can cause lots of property loss from flooding.
Did you make any progress on your goals? Thursday we'll put nearly $1,700 on my student loan, which should knock the balance to right around $1,000!!! We'll also put $1,000 in the bathroom remodel fund. We're actually having a design and construction firm come look at the space today after work!! We hope to sign a contract with them this week and then get started in June. We're hoping to keep the total cost to $10,000 but have some wiggle room if there is wood rot or other unexpected issues.
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area? We live in Kansas, so tornadoes. However, I don't believe they're as common as people think. I've never actually seen or been in one, though I've seen the aftermath. I went to college about 20 miles from Joplin, MO and the destruction there was unbelievable.
Pretty good - I mostly just studied all weekend and took an exam yesterday (meh - we'll see how that one goes...). Other than that, we went hiking yesterday afternoon and just bought gas and groceries. Spent less than $100 total I think.

What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area?
Did you make any progress on your goals? $250 went to savings this week
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area? Snow is our biggest problem, but we're so used to it, it usually doesn't cause too much interruption. We had an ice storm in October 2006 that was pretty crazy- lots of trees came down, people didn't have power for weeks, everything was shut down.
Did you make any progress on your goals? Not a pay week, so no. Just chugging along.
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area? I live in MD so none really. We have some crazy weather (last weekend I was boating in shorts and tank top and this weekend I needed a sweater and boots), but nothing disaster status that I can think of.
$20 for a church even Friday, $8 on a DQ date, $60 groceries, all budgeted.
Did you make any progress on your goals?
Nope, but we budgeted for May and I'm looking forward to all that coming progress!
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area?
1. $3 CVS, $27 lunch for friends b-day, $170 parts to fix my trunk at dealership ugg
2. Nothing new, we get paid this week
3. Blizzard's in the winter, Severe T-storms/hurricains/tropical storms/ in the summer/fall, with a tiny chance for tornado's warnings but very rare.
- $20 on brunch for 3 at IHOP including tip (our once a month dining out)--had a coupon
- $60 on two shirts and a pair of dress pants for DH (saved $80 on them--Dillard's is going out of business here).
- $30 on 18 meals worth of food (woot, woot)--got some fantastic deals at the grocery store and got below my usual $1.80 per meal budget
Did you make any progress on your goals?- Lots of progress made! I have been working two side jobs (tutoring and organizing/assisting with a consultant's business--brought in about $500 extra this month.
- Increased debt payments by $200 a month, which will cut off 6 months of payments. Super excited because that puts us as debt free (with the exception of our primary mortgage) in December 2017
- DH finally asked for a raised and got a $2,500 increase. It wasn't what he asked for, but it's definitely better than nothing
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area?1. $75 on a new comforter set, $25 on gas, $21 on a nice bottle of wine for a birthday party, $20 for apps and cheap beer.
2. No progress this week
3. Snow. Tons of snow. Fortunately we work and live on campus so when the weather gets tough we can sit tight and wait it out.
Love: March 2010 Marriage: July 2013 Debt Free: October 2014 TTC: May 2015
Not bad. $150 on groceries, $100 at Target which included new bedding for us. We're finally giving our master bedroom a face lift!
Did you make any progress on your goals?
Yes! Last minute $250 income for throwing some of our stuff on a friend's yard sale! Haven't decided where that money will go yet.
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area?
Snow, ice, flooding, tornados... Typically pretty minor. Nothing to make national news.
How was your weekend? Not bad. One of my best friends got married on Saturday and I was in the wedding. Since I was so busy with that, I didn't really have time to spend money
. $15 for gas, $120 for groceries, $15 for dog treats (all budgeted for).
Did you make any progress on your goals? I upped my 401K contribution from 10% to 12%. I am also contributing approx. 5% to a Roth IRA. With my employer match, all of the calculators I have used say that I should be able to retire early (55). I will probably up my Roth IRA next year just to be ahead of the game, but I am feeling really good with where things sit.
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area? We are pretty lucky here in that natural disasters are pretty rare. I would say a blizzard/snow would be the most likely. There is the occasional flooding but nothing super traumatic. Oh, and very rarely a tornado spotting.
1) This past weekend was great! Jazz Fest is going on this weekend and next weekend. I live two blocks away from it, but don't have my own driveway or garage, so I basically just turn myself into a recluse and don't leave the house...at least nowhere I have to drive to, lol. But I can hear one of the main stages from my porch, so that saves me buying a ticket, which I think were $60-$70/each this year for each person/each day. Ka-ching. Plus the beer, water, and soft drinks out of my own fridge is a bargain compared to inside Jazz Fest, lol.
My DH and I walked our dog to a local coffee shop Sunday morning. Breakfast and coffee: $10. Hanging out and chit chatting with people visiting from all over the country: Priceless.
2) No progress on goals, since both my paychecks were the week before.
3) Hurricanes, hurricanes, and more hurricanes. Though it has been 8-9 years since I've had to evacuate for one. Crossing fingers that trend continues.
And flooding. Though, unless it is a hurricane, the flooding that occurs during heavy rainstorms just makes driving a bit treacherous.
Occasional tornados. We get alerts for them at least a few times a year. But I have never seen one.
Spendy, but not too bad. Just a mix of everything.
Did you make any progress on your goals?
We will be putting away $300+ into our savings account, I'm just waiting for the end of the month to put the full amount in.
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area?
Did you make any progress on your goals? $250 to our move money account, $100 to my student loan. $25 to the Disney fund, $30 to general savings.
What natural disaster(s) are a regular concern in your area? Tornadoes, I think. We've been here less than a year, and hopefully we don't stay long enough to find out how big of a concern they really are.
Did you make any progress on your goals? Yes, paid $185 on my credit card. MW is starting to save up for dental repairs.
What natural disasters are a regular concern in your area? I live in Northeast Ohio so we get the after effects of hurricanes that come up the Ohio Valley or come up the East Coast and head inland. We get heavy snow at times especially in the snow belt in the winter including small blizzards. We get severe thunderstorms that bring hail and tornadoes anytime from late February until sometimes into late October or early November.
When I was living in Oklahoma, I watched a tornado about 5 to 10 miles away that shut down my plant for a few hours.
