Unpopular Opinions

Since our board is dead and maybe this will liven things up, post your Unpopular Opinion here. Hell, I'll even go first. I'm sure I have some.

Let's see....

I think long fingernails are disgusting and unsanitary, especially artificial nails.

I own a pair of Crocs and like them for traipsing about in the yard.

I'm sure I have some better ones. I'll update this when I think of them. Post yours!

Re: Unpopular Opinions

  • I like wearing my Uggs with miniskirts. If it's cold enough I usually wear tights too but people act like it's blasphemous or something.

Also- I think this is definitely more unpopular in colder climates, I used to live in the San Diego area and saw this combination all the time so I don't think people cared as much out there.

I'm a Mid-Atlantic girl. I've seen some girls try to pull it off around here, but it just doesn 't work IMO. In the Winter, I think "Their legs must be frozen". In the Summer, all I can think about is how sweaty their feet must be. I've not seen it with leggings though. I think those would help.

I have fuzzy lined crocs, and I love them.  I generally only would wear them for taking out the trash or taking the dog out or something, though.  Though I have also worn them to volleyball because they're easy to slip on and off to change to VB shoes.

I judge people who walk out of the grocery store with a full cart of plastic bags.

Never heard of them. I had to Google it. Is it for just legit charities or like someone's Boob Job Fund?

Well, yay for the charity stuff.  Fiona Flatchest can pay for her own tits.

Well, shit. I am ashamed to say that I have been procrastinating about buying reusable grocery bags for at least 10 years. I kept looking for cute ones (ya know, because the environment really gives a crap about how cute my stupid grocery bags are. lol) and never settled on ones that I liked. So feel free to recommend your reusable bags to your truly.

ETA: I just thought of something. Do I get credit for reusing them myself for picking up dog poo?

ITA about people selling me things!  I'm kind of a believer in essential oils helping with a lot of things, though.  I don't think they cure anything, but they sure can help.  I just don't need them hawked to me every time I open FB.

At least you're reusing them.  You can also recycle them in bins at most grocery store now, too.
As far as getting cute ones, I collect them from various grocery stores - whenever I go to a new store, like, in another part of the country, I get a new bag.  My local chain grocer has really pretty ones, and Whole Foods usually has nice looking ones too.  Dude, they're $1 or $1.50, just buy one every other week when you're at the grocery store until you have enough.  In the alternative, use any random canvas bags that you might have laying around your house.  I can't be the only one with a million of these from trade shows, business conferences, etc, right?
  • I can't handle all of my friends selling shit.  I don't want Usborne books, essential oils, nail stickers, 31 bags, Avon, or whatever else it is you're selling.  Delete, delete, delete.  I don't want to join your Facebook party or, God forbid, sign up to sell under you.  NO ONE LIKES THIS.

And as far as essential oils are concerned - if you are counting on it to do anything other than smell nice and soothing or at most ease some symptoms, you don't understand the way germs work.  Oils do not prevent disease or take the place of actual medicine.
Oh, my friend's mother is notorious for selling stuff like this. I don't even know where she finds these companies. It only irritates me when they try to pressure you into hosting a party.

Ooh, I never thought of this! I usually use them to tote DS's toys, clothes, etc everywhere. I have a crap ton of Vera Bradley totes that my Mom got me and some cute ones I've picked up at the beach. Into my little car those will go. Thx!

and to add to this--I hate it when they create 2 FB profiles--one to sell and one "personal" and then put the same crap on both.  There is no need, whatsoever, to post on your personal one if you have a sales page.  I don't mind when people refer to their sales page and tell people to "like" it, but then don't post the same thing on both.  It defeats the purpose of having the second page.

I can't stand Swiffers and all of the other ones out there. I feel like they just push dirt around. I guess they are good for a quick clean up, but I like my good old-fashioned mop. To each their own, I guess.

    I'm so glad I don't have a FB account.

  • I don't think being annoyed by all the MLMs is unpopular :) I wish facebook was like tumblr and you could block certain words/phrases.

We get plastic bags at the store but always reuse them. DH takes his lunch in them because he has had lunchboxes stolen, we use them for dog poop. I keep some in my diaper bag for accidents and our pool bag to put wet clothes in. We also have been saving them up for our garage sale this weekend. I do want to get some reusable bags though.

This would be me every other week. Our dog is the size of me and we go through two plastic bags a day with dog crap.

The other weeks I use reusable though I admit I'm lazy sometimes. Juggling an armload of reusable bags, my purse, keys and the kid through a parking lot isn't easy.

Adding to my eco-friendly judginess - I also judge people who buy bottled water by the case on the reg.  Get a water bottle or a sippy cup and/or a filter for your tap.

We aren't gossipy on NBC. And I don't mean you, @CeeCeeSugaPie. I was just ranting in general. Some people close to me have been drug through the mud this month, and it's disgusting how so many busybodies will treat gossip like it's the honest truth. I mean, Seriously! You heard it fifth person. Don't you think it might be a slightly skewed version of reality?!  #justranting

  • The online sales, especially through facebook drive me insane. No offense if anyone here sells those stupid Jamberry nails, but it has to stop. I have invitations to at least 4 different parties. What really grinds my gears are the reps who complain they have no money (hence the extra job selling this crap) then turn around and buy sheets of the nail sheets. I don't think you get free samples to show off the product.

Gofundme's and kickstarters also drive me crazy. I've heard of movie stars trying to raise money to make a movie, no you have plenty of your own money, use that. I know people who refuse to get a job who send out gofundme requests so that they can fund Christmas presents and get their car fixed. I've heard people do it for weddings too but I'm not sure if that's true.

Swiffers are only good for annihilating dust bunnies that have crawled up under my dressers or other places the vacuum hose can't get underneath.

  • Given these UOs, you guys would probably all hate me IRL.

Well, I use plastic bags (but recycle all of them in the bin at the store on my next trip) and LOVE summer. The hotter the better.

I do NOT sell shit on fb. My BIL is actually pretty high up in his pyramid scheme MLM company and it is SO annoying. Esp. because he calls himself an "entrepreneur." Nope nope nope.

I love summer and warm weather, I can't stand winter. I also can't stand when everyone gets bothered about complaining about the weather. I live in a colder region and hear "you live in XYZ, it snows, deal with it" like it's that simple to up and move to a warm weather climate. I do however try to keep quiet until the snow gets really bad.
