MM AW: I just made curtains for our kitchen! (Update: And pillows for the living room!)
I wanted to add some color and softness to our kitchen and I found the perfect fabric to make curtains today! The fabric was on sale for $6.99/yard (usually $9.99/yard) and I had a 20% of coupon at JoAnn Fabrics. I needed about 1.5 yards which gave me enough for the curtain and a fabric remnant large enough to recover a pillow in our living room!
I also bought coordinating fabric to make four 18 inch pillows for the couches and canvas and supplies to make a custom canvas to modge podge a large world map for wall art.
For about $80 in supplies and my time we are going to have new curtains, new wall art, and 5 new decorative pillows!
These pillows were super duper easy to make once I figured out the instructions (thanks Pinterest!) They are envelope pillows which means I didn't need to close the pillows with a hand stitch. I can also take the fabric off to wash or change it out for each season. This fabric was also $6.99/yard with a 20% off coupon and I get two pillows out of each piece of fabric.
I have a striped fabric in the same colors to make two more pillows. I'm going to do those tomorrow because I want to be "fresh" to line up the stripes. I'm a VERY novice sewer and I've never had to worry about matching up patterns before.
