Halloween movies
Halloween candy
Re: Monday Accountability Post
1. Pretty spendy and not planned, but paid in cash. $20 Home Depot, $96 BJ's, $40 Walmart, $40 Pizza with relatives, $85 Pet Supplies, $20 Gas $8 Paint Samples
2. $1620 towards shed/snowblower
3. I love Hocus Pocus, Freddy Vs Jason
I really love anything chocolate (milkyway, snickers, 3 musketeers, recees, kitkats)
2. Regular student loan payment of $370 and $917 to ROTHs.
3. Growing up, Halloween stopped at 12 in my family, so I guess Hocus Pocus? Otherwise, I'm not into scary movies or dressing up.
1. How MM was your weekend?
Good, all budgeted. $5 for last ingredients for our anniversary meal, $120 including tip for couples massage, $50 for date night Sunday ($47 at restaurant and $3 for ice cream after!)
2. Any progress towards goals?
Last week we put $2080 towards student loans. We're about to hit the year mark of paying off debt aggressively and the balance is down to $23,938 from $55,421 last November 1.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies: Nightmare Before Christmas
Halloween candy: Laffy Taffy or anything chocolate
All planned... $70 groceries, $36 Target, $50 birthday party supplies (kiddos), $100 birthday party food & cake
2. Any progress towards goals?
Nothing right now.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies - Hocus Pocas, I remember watching Ernest Scared Stupid as a kid but that's when the Ernest movies were popular - haven't seen it years.
Halloween candy - Twix and Kitkats!
Good. We went to a swanky event on Friday that we got free tickets for. We found free parking so it was $0 total. Dinner and bar were included and we went home with cool stuff in our swag bags.
Saturday was a outdoor party in a close by neighborhood. We didn't spend any money there.
Sunday we spent $80 on groceries. Spent a little more on some nice fish to cook at home but overall grocery budget is good this month so we have the room to spend extra on fish. Got burned by Target cartwheel though (didn't see the limit of 4 on the one deal) so didn't get a super good deal there.
Then we went out to dinner and used our coupon book. Total with tip came to $18.
2. Progress?
Staying the course
3. Favorite movie: Lost Boys (the Coreys!)
Favorite candy: Kit Kat
1. How MM was your weekend?
Ours was kind of spendy, but it was budgeted. I spent another $150 refreshing my wardrobe and also on basics like socks, underwear, etc. for both of us. We also ran into a deal on thermals at Costco, so we each got two sets for our trip in December. I think we are just about geared up for that trip.
2. Any progress towards goals?
I continued with the purging this weekend. H joined me. We went through his clothes, my accessories, and then the linen closet and master bathroom cabinets. We generated another 6 trash bags of stuff to donate plus 1 trash bag of expired products to throw away. Also? ALL OF MY SHOES NOW FIT ON THE CLOSET DOOR SHOE RACK WITH ROOM TO SPARE (except boots because they are too heavy). Holy moly, it's amazing.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies - Never cared for scary movies
Halloween candy - REESE's. OMG, give me all the Reese's.
1. How MM was your weekend? Really good - groceries ($156), gas ($23), target ($8).
2. Any progress towards goals? $500 went to savings on Saturday and the rest of the year is pretty planned out now that DH's paychecks are coming in with his new school district.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies - not a fan of Halloween movies, but Nightmare before Christmas is awesome.
Halloween candy - kit kats for sure
1. How MM was your weekend? This was our spendy weekend of the month that we budgeted for.
$545 for the my brothers' memorial scholarship benefit. This was for food, raffle tickets, drinks, and auction items we purchased. We will also give a $5,000 donation that will come from our "give" stash of money.
$112 on groceries and household stuff
$220 on clothing for me. This post baby crap and not having time to cook anything but frozen pizzas, sucks! Nothing fits. So I went through all my fall/winter clothes. Donated 2 boxes full of stuff I know I won't be wearing even if it does fit again, and bought some staples. I used some of @hoffse's tactics. If it didn't bring me joy, it went. A lot of things went.
$175 on a leaf blower and stuff to winterize the lawn mower
$12 on McDonalds Friday night after H's work party.
2. Any progress towards goals?
We successfully cash flowed the fundraiser amount we planned to spend.
The rest of the month is going to be bad though. We may not end up putting any to savings. There were a lot more things we need to get done before winter, that we forgot to budget.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies I have to watch Casper every year.
Halloween candy Give me a homemade popcorn ball and nobody gets hurt.

- Fair. H worked over 24 straight hours Friday into Saturday (not planned) and I worked during the day on Saturday so we ordered in Saturday night ($26.) Then we spent the day out and about yesterday just to spend some time together. With us working opposite shifts now, we don't see each other much during the week. So we went to lunch. $33. We made a Target run for $69.
2. Any progress towards goals?
- Nope. Neither of us were paid this week.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies
- It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Don't judge me. I don't really like Halloween, but I sure do love Charlie Brown. And I watch ALL the Charlie Brown holiday movies.
Halloween candy
- Twix and all the fruity stuff: skittles, laffy taffy, starburst.
1. How MM was your weekend? Friday was a bit spendy on several errands, but Saturday wasn't bad as it was my cousin's wedding so all we spent was a $50 check as part of their gift and a few dollars in bar tips. Sunday we got McDonald's breakfast (post-wedding necessity), and H had to get a couple things at Target, but that's it.
2. Any progress towards goals? Last week we setup a meeting with my life insurance rep for this week, to transfer ownership of my life ins to me, and to get quotes for H. Life ins for H has been a goal for awhile now so I'm happy it's finally happening.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies Don't have one
Halloween candy I could eat Reese's all day long.
1. How MM was your weekend? Not too bad. Friday night--$30 on dinner (unplanned, we both had really long days and didn't want to cook); Saturday-$215 on hotel room, $72 w/ tip for dinner, $30ish for a movie-all budgeted for our date weekend; Sunday-$13 craft supplies; $98 new area rug; $30 lunch--all mostly budgeted or coming out of shopping savings
2. Any progress towards goals? Just plugging along, although I'm pretty excited about the area rug purchase. We've been looking for a new rug for a couple of years, and all the ones we like have been $300+ which is why we haven't bought one. Decided to go check out Lowe's while we were away for the weekend, and found the $98 rug that we both love. So that's sort of like goal progress!
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies--I hate scary movies, so the only Halloween movie I can think of that I would watch is the Charlie Brown one.
Halloween candy--Reeses!!!! Almond Joy is second choice.
1. How MM was your weekend?
Not too bad. I sent my mom $100 to help pay for a dog's surgery. The dog used to be mine, then became hers when I moved to Chicago. Went grocery shopping Friday evening, spent about $60, which was more than I wanted, but they were having a BOGO sale on "fancy" chicken... ie not quite organic but way better than the cheapo stuff. So I bought 4 packages of chicken breasts and 2 of ground chicken. Used one package for dinner Friday night and the rest went in the freezer. Went to a baby shower on Saturday, I had bought the gift about a month ago. That night went to a friend's house, and we ordered pizza and wings, and I tipped her off to a 50% off code for Papa John's, so six adults and 1 toddler ate for $25. Yesterday, just puttered around the house before taking H to the airport. Did a bathroom supplies purge and recycled some wedding baskets into bathroom supply baskets.
2. Any progress towards goals?
I was able to move $150 to savings...less than I wanted due to the dog surgery and receiving a smaller than expected bonus, but even a little bit matters, right?
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies: None really... not into scary movies. Halloween has never been a favorite holiday.
Halloween candy: Reese's too! I also like those little mellocreme pumpkins that are kinda like candy corn.
1. How MM was your weekend? Spendy but not too terrible and I plan to cash flow anything on our card mainly the target trip. $130 at target (furniture for our office and birthday gifts for two kids), $20 at outback for drinks (H paid for dinner), $43 for tastefully simple order, $20 for pizza yesterday. Returned a cabinet I bought to Kirklands because it was damaged, unfortunately I couldn't get our money back on our credit card because I paid for it with paypal online (UGH!!). So I plan to use the $140 gift card for Christmas gifts.
2. Any progress towards goals? Yes! Threw $200 in savings this week when I got paid, it's not much but I haven't been putting anything in savings lately so it felt good.
Also, we got our office cleaned out which I've been wanting to do for 2 years. It quickly became the dump room after we moved in and finally it's all cleaned out. Donated a bunch of stuff to Goodwill. The non MM side of it means we bought one of the 6 cube organizers and 3 bins which was about $90 at target, but there was a cartwheel for 20% for I felt ok with it.
Not MM related: I ran a 5K this weekend! I signed up for a virtual 5K in August and haven't run in over a month, and haven't run 3 miles straight in a while, so this was quite an accomplishment for me.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies- Hocus Pocus. Absolutely LOVE this movie.
Halloween candy- Anything gummy, chewy and/or sour.
1. Our weekend wasn't too bad! We spent $20 at the pumpkin patch for fresh veggies and a pumpkin. Then we all went out to eat, $40. I finished stocking my mom up on dog food for a whole year as well!
2. I was able to put another $200 in savings plus the direct deposit from my second job. In total this month I have put over $500 in my savings account.
3. I love Hocus Pocus and watching the Harry Potter series. When I was a teenager I loved the Scream movies but DH doesn't like anything remotely scary. He won't even watch Hocus Pocus with me:( but I am working on it. My favorite Halloween candy would have to be snickers!
1. How MM was your weekend?
Good. I was home sick most of the weekend, so I only spent $80 on groceries at Target but got $15 back from iBotta, and $75 on application and transcript request fees for the post-baccaleurate program I'm hoping to start in January.
2. Any progress towards goals?
Nope, just staying the course.
3. What are your favorite:
Halloween movies- Not a big fan, so probably just Nightmare Before Christmas.
Halloween candy- Definitely Reeses and Snickers.
1. How MM was your weekend?
I had my big mystery shop in Biloxi this weekend so, I spent a lot of money (over $1,000), but almost all of it will be reimbursed. Though I did spend $25 over my spa reimbursement to get a scalp massage added to my Swedish massage. Worth it! I also spent about $15 in gas to get there and back. Times like these I am so happy to have a car that gets 29MPG.
2. Any progress towards goals?
Still painting and laying down tile in the new duplex. Though I did look at kitchen cabinets and granite counter tops on Friday for it. The place I went looked to have good deals, but I need to send them the measurements to get an "exact quote". Worried there will be a lot of "surprises" that will substantially bump up their base prices.
3. What are your favorite:
Although I like costumes, I'm boring on the below stuff
Halloween movies - I don't care for Halloween, scary movies. I just don't find them interesting.
Halloween candy - I don't really eat candy very much, Halloween or otherwise. I didn't have much of a sweet tooth as a child anyway. And then, at the age of 20, I was diagnosed with Type I (insulin dependent) diabetes. So I almost totally avoid high sugar items. But my favorites candy-wise are Snickers and Twix. And, every once in a great while if I am in a mood, just one of those tiny Halloween candy bars are the perfect size for me.
Believe it or not, when you cut straight sugar out of your diet, you really lose your taste for it. Most sweet foods and drinks that the average person loves, I just find disgustingly cloying and sweet. Juices, 100% juices (not juice cocktails), are my one exception. Juices are one of the only things I miss.
As usual, my long winded answer to a basic question
. Snickers and Twix.
My H on the other hand has a huge sweet tooth and gummy bears are his favorite.
My cousin did this around 3 months post partum - figured nothing would fit again, especially pants. About 4 or 5 months later they would have fit. She was so mad at herself.
My hips have widened greatly. So I highly doubt the pants will fit even if I lose a bunch of the weight. But I've kept the simple dress pants and timeless pieces.
Same with how my feet grew half a size. Those hot pink pumps went into the donate box. They were snug pre-pregnancy. They're unbearable now.
