Holy crap... 10k for AC?? what the hell? I've never heard of it costing that much, ever. We got a good deal on ours at $2800 (we did pay the builder $500 to have it pre-wired, but that was included in the purchase price of the home), but I've never heard of any AC costing $10,000 if ductwork wasn't involved.
Did it include a new furnace as well? We replaced both last year and spent a little over $8,000. I can see it costing $10,000 or more for a larger house with zoned temperature controls.
