Re: Weekend Plans

  • What's everyone up to this weekend? -Not a whole lot. Hoping to sleep. I have been up since 3am this morning for no good reason (just keep randomly waking up). Then just relaxing at home with my husband and my dogs. What things are going on that are budgeted? -Need to finish planning and booking our vacation coming up next month to Europe for 3 weeks. How are you going to stay within the budget? -Research to find deals for the trip! For example, we wanted to go see Wicked in London and I searched for awhile and found a deal where we got great seats on the ground floor a few rows back and dinner for two at a local restaurant for the same price as if I had bought the tickets from the theater directly.

  • We are probably going to spend most of the weekend working for my H and studying for me. We are going to do a little preemptive Christmas shopping, because we are way ahead on our budget for this month, so we're going to use some surplus to knock out secretary gifts and things like that. We will also probably shop for the kids we are buying for. I just saw that Target has a buy 2, get 1 free deal on board games through tomorrow. We're also planning on seeing Spectre during the Sunday matinee. It's a good time for us, and it's $12 for both of us to go that time of day/week.

  • What's everyone up to this weekend? Hanging out with my sister for a bit tonight, Saturday morning I need to buy some felt to make a cape for my niece to give at her 3rd bday party later in the day. Date night Saturday night. And satisfying all my deep cleaning urges Sunday.

What things are going on that are budgeted?
Groceries on Sunday. Date night on Saturday. And b-day gift Saturday.

How are you going to stay within the budget?
I need to finish out my meal planning for next week and check the deals. Date night we are using a $25 gift card MIL gave us for our anniversary and we have $35 left in the date night budget also. B-day gift is budgeted at $10 and I think I should be good to get 1/2 yard of pink felt and a single Velcro fastener for that price. If I see something extra I want to add to the cape I'll just use my blow money.
  • My baby shower for my local friends is this weekend. My mom and sister are visiting. Outside that we're basically focused on finishing-up house projects

As far as budgeted things go, does finishing out our baby supply needs from our registries count? because we plan to use the amazon completion coupon on sunday to get any remaining essentials.

We've known all allong that we were probably going to have to drop about $1500 on baby things, going through whats left on our registries I think we'll probably come-in under that mark. We were planning to wait to buy our jogger, since we can't run with baby until May/June, but we may bite the bullet and get it now while we can get 15% off.

What's everyone up to this weekend?
Tonight is a trip to Costco, need to start stocking up for Thanksgiving.  I also want to buy a tree skirt I saw there the other day (I work across the street from Costco so I go over there on my lunch once a week to eat samples and buy salads for the rest of my lunches).  It's $30 which is a pretty good price for a tree skirt, we were gifted a new tree from our wedding registry.  Tomorrow morning I sadly have to dump a bunch of stuff from our freezer.  I've been hoarding game meat that people give us, but it's now 3+ years old and probably isn't any good anymore.  Plus I need to make room for a turkey.  H needs new glasses so he wants me to go look at some with him.  I also need to go grocery shopping for next week's meals and to start loading up for Thanksgiving, especially to buy the turkey.   On Sunday, some friends who weren't able to come to the wedding invited us over for lunch/dinner, and she's a great cook so I'm looking forward to that.  It's also going to be a doggie playdate for our pups.

What things are going on that are budgeted?
Pretty much all of the above.  I budgeted $50 extra in our groceries budget this paycheck to accommodate the Thanksgiving purchases, but I'm still hoping to not have to dip into that.

How are you going to stay within the budget?
Will just have to watch myself at the grocery store.  They're in the middle of a sale where if you buy 10 items in their list, you get an extra discount.  I way overspent last week because of this sale, although I bought a lot of toiletries at a really great price that will last us a long time (like I probably now have enough feminine hygiene products to last a year LOL).
  • What's everyone up to this weekend? Nothing too exciting. Cleaning the house/grocery shopping on Saturday. Meal prep, laundry, relax on Sunday. DD#2 keeps saying she wants pancakes, so we might go out to breakfast on Sunday or I'll try to make some from scratch.. we'll see. :)

What things are going on that are budgeted? Grocery shopping

How are you going to stay within the budget? I'm not too strict with the grocery bill- we go through everything and don't eat out often so I'm ok with spending $150-$200 on groceries each week.

  • We're driving about 5 hours away tomorrow for both of our families.  We'll be having dinner with H's parents.  They're taking us out to dinner for H's belated birthday.  Next day we're going to a thing with my family.  We have a cousin's club meeting.

Hotel.  We couldn't find a good deal, but we are staying at a Hilton to collect more points.  Otherwise, that's our only cost besides gas.
  • We both work tomorrow, but tomorrow afternoon, one of my girlfriends is going to stop over with her daughter. It'll be the first time I've seen my friend in over 4 years, and the first time I'll meet her daughter. So we'll just hang out and order in. That's all that's going on. So regardless of what it costs to order take out, we'll be under budget for the week. No grocery shopping or anything. Easy weekend!
  • What's everyone up to this weekend?
Tonight I'm purging and cleaning like a mad woman.
Tomorrow we're going to look at 2 houses, and the realtor is coming to give us some ideas on our house.  Then we have a 89th birthday party for H's grandpa.
Sunday are 9 month pictures for DD, church, and probably getting more crap done at home.
What things are going on that are budgeted?
Actually, I just need to stop at the grocery store tonight to pick up a few things, but that should stay under $40.  Otherwise it's just filling up with gas since we will be driving all over, and we'll pitch in $10 for pizzas tomorrow night.
How are you going to stay within the budget?
I have a strict grocery list, and I'm sticking to it.  I'm also supposed to bring a mixed drink and 2 snacks for tomorrow night.  So I found a Sangria mix I'll throw with 2 bottles of wine I already have, and will make snacks from things we have in the house.
It's time to get this grocery budget under control, and I've been savvy with it all week.  We have plenty of food in the house, just need to use it.

What things are going on that are budgeted?
A trip to the grocery store!

How are you going to stay within the budget?

  • Tonight we are going out to eat as a family (budgeted)

Saturday - DD with be with my parents from 11-3 that allows DH and I time to do some needed chores around the house.  I need to also finish DDs xmas list to send to the grandparents and I need to start DHs and I xmas list to give to our parents.  Deadline is Black Friday no later.  Even though I don't shop on black friday I need the deadline.

Sunday - yoga class in the morning.  I need to run a couple errands which are also budgeted.

  • Tonight my husband is working until about 12 or 1am so I am going to get a manicure (money available in the budget), then running to the store for  a couple things (budgeted as well if I stay under $20). Probably end my night on the couch, but if I have time I want to start a loaf of no-knead cranberry nut bread to test before thanksgiving.  Tomorrow I'll cook & do chores, yoga, and go to my parents for dinner.  Sunday I am teaching two yoga classes, then finish up any chores & a little work followed by relaxing.

I worked until 6:30 last night and then came home and went directly to bed. :)

Today we have friends visiting with their boys. We're going to the zoo, and will likely eat out for lunch and dinner. We have about $70 in our entertainment budget, but will probably go over. But, we only see these friends about every six months so I'm okay with that.

Tomorrow we may go to breakfast before they leave. After that, I'll just spend the rest of the day getting ready for the short work week and our Thanksgiving trip to Florida and the Virgin Islands!

Honestly, I'm over the budget this month. We'll regroup when we get back from vacation.

  • 1. We have a very quiet weekend!  Friday we stayed in with a frozen pizza, today I am grocery shopping and I can't go to church tomorrow as my DD has pink eye and DH is helping out at a friend's church.

    2. Grocery shopping is budgeted.

    3.  We're trying to stay in budget by buying diapers in bulk this week which will hopefully save money in the long run.
