How was your Valentines day?

Re: Monday Accountability

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? It could have been better. We both filled up our cars (loving these low gas prices!) and did some grocery shopping. Then I dropped our (expensive) electric toothbrush on the tile floor and it's not working. Luckily, they had the newer model on sale at Costco so we bought a replacement. H is hoping to fix the old brush...could be just a bad connection or some soldering that needs to be re-done, but we went ahead and got another one just in case. I'm hoping we get to return it though.

    2. Any progress towards goals? I think so. We had our weekly meeting to go over the budget and check to make sure all of our expenses were tracked. H received his annual bonus on Friday so we're speeding up some home projects we've been planning on for awhile. We started doing serious research on bathroom remodel materials and I think we'll start executing sometime this summer. We're watching for sales for awhile first in order to get the best prices we can on everything. We also went on ahead and moved a percentage of the bonus into our savings.

    3. Random questions:

Any tattoo's/piercing's?I just have my ears pierced. One in each...so boring.

How was your Valentines day? It was nice. I got up early and went to the grocery store because we were completely out of coffee (unacceptable!). While I was there I bought materials for breakfast burritos so H made us breakfast when I got back. We ran a couple other errands later, did some house cleaning, and spent Valentine's evening watching movies on Netflix and cuddling on the floor in front of the fireplace.

  • 1. Not very spendy  $40 Olive Garden, $7 CVS

    2. Nothing to report, we get paid this week

    3. In college I got my tongue and belly button pierced but only the belly button piercing remains. My dentist said the tongue piercing was rubbing against my teeth in some spots so I took it out. I nearly passed out when getting them done (not at the same time) and recovery was painful too. I don't know how I had the guts to do them, but I would never do any piercings again. I'm not good when it comes to pain.  I also had my ears pieced as a child but stopped wearing earing in my late teens probably so the holes are closed.

    I'm not a fan of tattoo's so I don't have any/ never wanted any.

Valentines Day was nice. We went out Friday to the Olive Garden and it was delicious...love that place! Sunday we just stayed in because it was a freeeezing weekend! We exchanged a card and candy/cookies.

    1. How MM was your weekend?

Great!  $12 Taco Bell lunch on Friday for me and H.  We'd had a tough morning dealing with the aggravating Rent A Center people and needed a quick lunch.  My new tenants moved in that afternoon.  $38 at Home Depot on Saturday.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

$650 toward my HELOC.  That was the pro-rated rent amount I received on Friday.  I'm proud of myself I cashed the check and put all the money against the HELOC.

    3. Random questions:

    Any tattoo's/piercing's?

No tattoos or piercings, other than the typical pierced ears.

    How was your Valentines day?

It was a nice, relaxing day at home.  My H and I didn't really do anything, but we usually don't.

  • 1) Ours was a little spendy.  We spent about $35 on ingredients for Valentine's Day dinner.  H made homemade fettucini alfredo with shrimp.  He made the pasta and everything!  We also spent less than $30 on two tanks of gas, and maybe $60 on other groceries.  Other than that, we bought the rest of the integrated canned LED lights we needed to finish up the basement and the bathroom, so our whole house now has the same kind of lights.  They were on sale at Costco for a good price, so we just did it given that we were planning on doing that this year anyway.  It was about $225 for 16 of them.

We also bought some pathway lights at Costco because they were on sale for $20 for an 8-pack.  They are solar LED's, and we just love them.  Our house does not have lights on a timer, and I hated that it's so dark at night.  I worry about a break-in.

    2) Nothing to report really.

    3) I only have one hole in each ear, which I got on my 13th birthday.  My parents are anti-baby-piercings.  I thought about a second hole in my ear briefly, but decided it wasn't worth it.  Frankly, none of those things would go over well at my job, so I'm glad I don't have anything I have to worry about covering up or removing.

Valentine's Day was nice.  We had a nice dinner in, and H's gift to me was systematically going through my list of small outstanding projects we still have to do.  He knocked a bunch out!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? It was good.  As a direct result of H and I freaking out about our looming income tax bill, we did nothing on Saturday.  We spent $0 all weekend.

    2. Any progress towards goals? We finally unloaded our old washer and dryer yesterday.  We bought them less than 4 years ago, but they wouldn't fit in our new house.  So we sold them for $600.  That's going right into our home improvement fund.

    3. Random questions:

Any tattoos/piercings? I have four tattoos and two holes in each of my ear lobes.  I also have the tragus of my right ear pierced.  I've also had my nose and my belly button pierced, but those were both taken out years ago.

How was your Valentines day? Uneventful.  H left for TX at 4 o'clock yesterday morning.  On Saturday, we stayed in and streamed a movie from Amazon.  Nothing special.

  • 1. Not terrible! We're well stocked food wise, but I did spend $50 at drugstore.com and $10 at Ulta. Otherwise, we spent $5 on coffee and $40 on eating out. 2. Not this week. :( 3. I don't really care for either tattoos or piercings. I do have the traditional single ear piercing, but I think the last time I wore earrings was our wedding. We think Valentine's Day is dumb, but we did go to Sunday bunch because brunch is awesome.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?  OK.  $50 on groceries.  Included some Valentine's splurges and a pack of frosty paws for the dog's birthday.  $60 on Home Depot stuff.  We went to Chipotle on Friday and that was free since we both texted for the free coupon.

    2. Any progress towards goals?  Staying the course.  We have a total of 3 BnB bookings this month so that will help with our balance this month.  We also booked an AirBnB for our first 2 nights in TX next month and used a referral coupon so the total was only like $60.

    3. Random questions:

Any tattoo's/piercing's?  Typical earrings, one small tramp stamp.

How was your Valentines day?  Nice and quiet, just the way we wanted it.  I left the gym around 5:30pm and the movie theater and restaurants were packed.  I'm glad we stayed in.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Good. One of my clients gave me a $20 tip, so I treated FI and I to a coffee. We got a pack of pods for our machine while we were there, so it came to $17 total. We also got new shoes for DD1 because hers were starting to tear in the toe area, so that was $22 for a pair of tennis shoes and a pair of flip flops.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

    Nothing ground-breaking, but I added $35 to our e-fund.

    3. Random questions:

    Any tattoo's/piercing's?

I had my belly button pierced, but I took it out when I was pregnant with DD1. I have my earlobes both pierced twice, but I just never put in any earrings because I always lose the backs somehow. I do have the inner cartilage (I forgot what it's called) pierced on the left side, and I leave that in all the time. As for tattoos, I have a cursive word in French on my upper back, a tree on my right side, and a dandelion and birds on my inner forearm with 'let it be' written on my wrist. The field I worked in previously and the one I work in now are pretty liberal when it comes to tattoos/piercings.

    How was your Valentines day?

I was mad at FI in the beginning of the day. He invited a friend over to play video games because he assumed I didn't want to do anything until we had plans later. He saw how irritated I was and quickly sent his friend home. Once our girls woke up from their nap, we went to his grandma's house and had dinner with her and his parents. He apologized once we got home, said he realized he never does anything surprising or special for me anymore, and that he would changing that.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

--It was hit and miss. I bought our valentine's dinner that we cooked together and spent about $40 total at the store. But, that included other food not for the dinner. So I got: 5 sirloin steaks, 2 lobster tails, 2 12oz bags of shrimp, salmon, asparagus, french bread and a crab claw for $40. Not bad!

--We went out to a local BBQ place on Saturday night and spent $11.40 for dinner because I had a $10 off $20 coupon.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

--Not really, need to make payments/transfer funds tonight or tomorrow

    3. Random questions:

    Any tattoo's/piercing's?

--I just have two piercings in each ear, nothing crazy. I used to have the top of my ear lob pierced, but it got infected and I let it close up.

--No tattoos, but I really want to get a dragonfly tattoo, I just haven't made the time to do it.

    How was your Valentines day?

--It was so so. DH was pretty sick all weekend, so he was in a somewhat grumpy mood (I don't blame him) and he slept a lot. We stayed in most the weekend and cooked a nice dinner on Sunday night. He did buy me a beautiful diamond butterfly necklace that I love though!

For my birthday, many years ago, my (now) H was supposed to take me out to a fancy dinner.  I got home from work that day.  He said he wasn't feeling well and asked if it was okay if he took me out to dinner a different night.  Totally fine, I understood.

About 30 minutes later, I happened to be in the kitchen when my H came in to tell me that his friend had just arrived and they were going to play video games.  I am usually not a woman of no words, but I was so stunned I didn't say anything and just glared at him.  He saw my face, apologized, and said he would tell his friend to leave.  I didn't even need to say a thing, lol.

  • 1 - Our weekend was good.  I don't remember the exact totals on everything we spent.  DD and DH went out on their Valentines date on Friday night which meant I was able to have a quite evening watching a movie with our dog.  I splurged and got some dinner from Sonic.  Saturday night DH and I went out on our date at a chinese restaurant and spent less than $40 which was awesome.  Sunday morning was spent at yoga, came home did some chores and we drove over to a friends house. They had invited us for dinner and we brought some dessert.

2 - not goals last week

3 - The only piercings I have are in my ears - just 1.  I use to have 2 but I let the top holes close because I never wore earrings in them.

Valentines day was great.  We always have a romantic dinner out without the kid.  I do like the holiday but we don't spend more than $25 each on a gift for each other.

    1. How MM was your weekend? Expensive. Ugh, I need to do better. Spent $80 at Outback for dinner for H & I/drinks for H & his parents, his parents took us to see Jeff Dunham Friday night so I figured the least I could do was buy them a couple drinks. Saturday we went to the movies and dinner, H paid, but I did spend $9 on soda/candy. Sunday- $150 at Wayfair for a nightstand.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Not a pay week so no.

    3. Random questions:

Any tattoo's/piercing's? I have my ears pierced but rarely ever wear earrings because I'm allergic to anything but gold, and I have a tendency to lose things so not a great combo. I had my second hole when I was 13 for about a year but it's since closed up.  I also have my belly button pierced. Had it done when I was 16, then it got ripped out, yuck. Then got it re-done when I was 21 after 3 long islands... That was not one of my best moments.

How was your Valentines day? It was ok. H and I lazed around all day. We 'celebrated' Saturday by going to see Dead Pool and going out to dinner.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? It was spendy, but budgeted. H and I took a long-weekend getaway, so the B&B was $420 for two nights, plus meals out Saturday-Monday (except for lunch on Sunday, I pre-made food at home to save some $), $24 fee for a wine-tasting that I later found out could have been waived if we mentioned our B&B (still shaking my head at that), $29 on a bottle of wine at said winery...

    2. Any progress towards goals? No. Although, in January we started budgeting based on H's income only and socking my salary away to savings, in order to 1. save at a high rate and 2. learn if we can live on H's salary alone. Our getaway this weekend is making February's budget tight, however the fact that we had enough room to do it is a good sign.

    3. Random questions:

Any tattoo's/piercing's? 2 piercings in each ear.

How was your Valentines day? It was wonderful and relaxing! Our getaway was just what we needed to spend some quality time with each other away from the demands of work, home and family.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

Very good! We spent $0 on Friday, and $0 on Saturday. Saturday we were given a beautiful table from DH's great aunt who is moving into a nursing facility. I feel so bad that she is not well, it was very kind of the family to think of us. We had a small ikea table with 4 chairs and a folding chair, this is a lovely 6 chair wooden table and it is a huge blessing to our family. On top of that my FIL bought us dinner that evening which was very generous. Sunday we also spent $0, and I did my grocery shopping on Monday $15 under budget!

    2. Any progress towards goals?

    None this week.

    3. Random questions:

Any tattoo's/piercing's? Just my ears are pierced, no tattoos

How was your Valentine's day? It was fine, we don't really celebrate but I did get my kids some little chocolate boxes which they were very excited about. I was super bummed on Monday though, I went to Wal-Mart expecting discounted candy and there was nothing left! All of the Easter stuff was out instead lol.
  • Late to this post too!

    1. How MM was your weekend? It was good- got everything ready for the trip, emptied out the fridge, and didn't eat out. ($0)

    2. Any progress towards goals? None this week

    3. Random questions:

Any tattoo's/piercing's? Just ears- nothing fancy. DH has 5 tattoos- he wants more.

How was your Valentines day? We got all packed for Disney world, had dinner with the girls. Relaxing before our big trip!
