Does anyone here shop at Aldi's?

Re: Does anyone here shop at Aldi's?

  • I shopped at Aldi's for the first time this week. I normally shop at Wal-Mart and I did find the prices to be lower on the Aldi's store brand versus the Wal-Mart store brand although in a lot of instances Wal-Mart has larger serving size. I was really impressed with all of the healthy and organic options and I think that's where it really sold me. I did save money but not as much as I had thought I would. When I got home though and actually laid out everything I'd bought I realized I bought almost enough things for two weeks of dinners, so it actually was a good deal more affordable. So far we've really enjoyed everything we've tried.

I was prepared for the carts, your own bagging, bringing cash (although now it looks like they take credit cards) but one thing I didn't realize is that when you check out your groceries are loaded into the previous person's cart and your cart will be filled with the groceries of the person behind you. I had brought my baby and so I quickly took her out of the cart and got her into the new one. If I had had my toddler instead it would have been trickier only because she's 2 and wants to climb out of the cart and run off at all times.

I am fully planning on going back next week!
  • Yes, they just started accepting credit cards at my local store! If I'm shopping solo, I don't mind switching carts. If I have a kid or two, I've politely declined and the cashier was nice about it.

  • @purplebookmark You can usually ask them if they will just re-load your cart since you have a baby with you.  They just move the other cart aside and then use it for the person behind you.

  • Okay that makes sense! Good to know, I will have to ask next time to keep my cart, that will definitely make it even easier!
