Would you ever NOT buy a home due to the street address it had?
For example, four years ago when we were home searching we saw a home for sale on a street called Demontree. I could never bear to live on a street by that name. This week, I saw a home for sale on a street called Chippendale (it actually refers to a style of furniture, but most people think of buff men).
What are some odd or horrendous street names you have seen?
Re: Street Names
I'd be pretty unlikey to not buy a house based on the street name, no matter how bad the name is.
Not that this is a bad name, it's just a funny name, but there is a park a few miles away from me called Bunny Friend Park. Believe it or not, it was actually named after a person. His last name was Friend and his nickname was Bunny.
There's a major street in NOLA called Tchoupitoulas. That's a mouthful. It's pronounced like CHOP-eh-two-las.
There are also a few streets here, that are actual words, but the street name is pronounced totally different. For example, there is Burgundy St. Oh, but no, it isn't pronounced BUR-gundy...like the wine or the color...it's pronounced bur-GUNDY, with the emphasis on the second syllable.
I don't a strange name would bother as long as it's not something offensive lol.
In our neighborhood we have a street named Shagbark Rd which is pretty funny...I just call it Shagbag. I've also passed a "Wisteria Lane" which reminds me of that old housewives TV show with Eva Longoria ( I forgot the name) and there are these big houses on it LoL.
