Re: Week/end Accountability
1. I can't even remember what we did this weekend but it wasn't much, just preparing for our long weekend coming up. $14 advanced auto, $79 groceries, $200 for misc yard items that our family friend was selling before they move out of state (chain saw, hedge trimmer etc)
2. We got paid but after we paid a bunch of bills we didn't have a lot to stash , so just keeping it in our checking account in case we need extra cash for our trip other than the $300 we had already put aside.
3. I was never and will never be a morning person. I used to be a night owl and still can be on weekends, but I like to be in bed by 9-10pm weeknights. I don't drink coffee or take naps so I'm going all day long...I do get tired during the afternoon and early at night but just can't nap....I've tried
2. This week is my check that goes to the mortgage, but otherwise, no.
3. Neither really. I like sleep too much! I usually go to bed at 10 and get up around 6:30. Though I tend to do my cleaning and other housework in the morning. I would love to find a way to find the time to do more, but I firmly believe that 8 hours of sleep every night is SO important for good health.
Pretty good. $18 on groceries, $3.50 at Redbox, $12 at Dairy Queen, and $8 at Walmart for some onsies for DD.
2. Any progress toward goals?
Yes. We added $1,000 to our Hawaii money.
I also have all of our bills paid, which means our next 3 paychecks are all gravy. Granted it will pay for daycare, food, gas, entertainment, etc. But we have been soooo good with our budget this month that we may end up putting more into our vacation savings than we originally planned.
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person?
Night person during the week, morning person on the weekends. lol
I actually love getting up early on the weekends and going for a run then enjoying a couple cups of coffee before DD and H get up.
However, during weekdays I hate getting up. I stay up later than I should during the week.

2. We both get paid this week, so no.
3. Morning-ish. I like to get up early to get stuff done because it makes me feel more productive. But I'm not always (or ever) happy about getting up so early. I'm in bed by 10 or 10:30 every night, and I get up between 5:15 and 5:30 every morning.
I spent $0 at Michael's by using a giftcard from my birthday so I could buy supplies for a new fall wreath.
$50 on some supplemental groceries. Shouldn't need to go again until this weekend.
2. Any progress toward goals? $1,500 into savings last week.
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person? Definitely a morning person! I actually really like getting up even earlier on weekend mornings because then I have the entire day to whatever I want to do instead of what work wants me to do. I LOVE mornings. My husband is a night person though which means he tends to sleep late and stay up late on the weekends.
Made about $200 on BnB.
2. Any progress toward goals? Yes, BnB income should help offset a spendy month.
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person? Morning on the few occasions I am well rested and motivated.
2. Any progress toward goals? Yes I moved some money to savings.
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person? Ugh, a night person who is forced to be a morning person, it's the worst. I'm actually up for a new job right now at a software company, I think I'll be getting an offer. Not gonna lie, I'm excited about it because the shift they need covered is 9-6, which means I can sleep in a bit later LOL But, H is also a night person, but the new dog likes to get up at the crack of dawn, so I've been doing morning duty and he's been doing night duty. If I get the new job I'll take over doing her morning walks, which would be good for me to do too.
1. How MM was your week/end?
It was okay. No money spent on Friday or Sunday. Saturday we made a Walmart trip, primarily because I needed to pick up a prescription and my H needed new sneakers. But, of course, we both found other clothes we wanted and also picked up a few groceries. Spent $105.
Not MM related, but certainly some "excitement". My tenants who live on the other side of my duplex (I guess) had a domestic disturbance. My H and I didn't hear anything beforehand, but an ambulance and police officers showed up. The H was handcuffed and taken away in a police car and she was forced to go to the hospital. Though I think that was more from her high intoxication levels. Charming.
(Sigh) I really hope this is just an aberration. They've only been living there for about 3 months, so it is hard to say. We live on a very lovely, small, quiet street and I don't want them to start becoming a disruption to the other neighbors.
2. Any progress toward goals?
Not really. I've been letting excess funds after bills just "hang out" until after I have the closing on my next rental property. Which is scheduled for tomorrow (yay!). Then I can start getting back on track a bit, though the property also needs about $12K in rehab, which I am going to try and cash flow as much as I can. So I've also been "saving" for that, so to speak.
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person?
I'm a night person. Or, more specifically, I'm definitely NOT a morning person. To me, the worst part about any office job is having to wake up to an alarm. Though that is primarily the jobs I have had. One of my coworkers and I were just having a conversation about this earlier this morning. He is also not a morning person and we often commiserate with each other when we first arrive at work.
2. Any progress toward goals? Despite our acting like irresponsible 21 year old party kids for half the weekend we did manage to put an extra $660 into savings above and beyond our normal weekly transfer! It was a combo of extra cash buffer in the checking account, a work reimbursement, and some credit card rewards. We also got a TON of yard work done on Saturday morning which made me feel awesome.
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person? Neither? My body loves to go to bed by 11pm and wake up at 730am. On the weekends that's pretty early and I get a lot done before my husband gets up, but for the weekdays I would much rather get up at 6am so I have more time to walk the dog, do some chores, etc. before leaving for work. It's a constant battle against the snooze button during the week.
2) Despite the spendy weekend, we are still well on track to have a good chunk left over at the end of the month. In fact, I will probably use part of it to continue cash-flowing expenses for our Spain trip, but I think we will still have some leftover even after that. We will see.
3) Definitely a morning person. I'm often up at 5 and ready to sleep by 9. Recently I've been waking up at 4:30 and that's a bit early for me.
2. Any progress toward goals? Nothing financial other than our normal auto withdrawals (401k, 403b, girls' 529 plans). I am going to start up Roth IRA auto withdrawals soon- we usually just do lump transfers 2x a year, so having a monthly transfer will be easier.
The bathroom is all tiled! We'll be getting grout/touching up paint next weekend (DD#1 has a birthday party Saturday so that day is limited) and grouting the weekend after that. We have lighting, mirror, and towel bars all set. We just need to buy a toilet and a shower curtain rod. Hoping to get the plumber in for all of the fixtures over Columbus Day break for DH. The end is in sight. 4 people with 1 toilet since July 1st has been a little crazy- should have done this when they were still in diapers!
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person? Unfortunately both- I'm up early with the girls/for work and I like to stay up late with DH to relax and spend time together.
2. Any progress toward goals? DH finally adjusted his tax withholdings with payroll (I've only been asking him to do this since April when we got a massive tax refund). The change got processed on his last paycheck and we will have an extra $500 a month! I couldn't believe one small change (single, no exemptions to married, 1 exemption) would make such a difference to our budget! We are adding more to savings, church giving, fun money, vacation sinking fund, & home improvement fund.
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person? More of a night person, but only if I have enough sleep to stay up late. I always hate mornings, no matter what.
Pretty good. We didn't really spend much money. I hung out with a friend for half of saturday and she cooked dinner. The following day, DH had a baseball game. So other than buying food at Costco ($35) and grabbing Taco Bell for dinner for both of us ($8), we didn't really spend any money.
2. Any progress toward goals?
-Scheduled payments to pay off my new rewards credit card (had put Fall tuition on it).
-Scheduled to pay about $300 extra per month on car loan.
3. GTKY: Are you a morning person or a night person?
-Tried and true night owl. I HATE waking up early. I wake up at 6:40am because that is the absolute latest I can wake and make it to work by 7:30am.
2- $266 to retirement and $266 to home improvement savings. We're finally at the point where we can save for home updates again
3 - I'm totally a night owl although I don't stay up that late lol. Just getting up at 8am to get DD ready for school is a struggle for me. I have to get 8-9 hours of sleep every night to feel rested. DH is more of a night owl than I am. He can easily stay up till 12-1 am every night.
