Monday Accountability

1. How MM was your weekend?

2. Any progress towards goals?

3. What are your Thanksgiving plans?

Re: Monday Accountability

  • 1. $23 Gas, $45 Home Depot, $74 Groceries and I think that's it?

    2. $240 to vacation account

    3. H is getting time and a half working 12 hrs on TG and I will be spending the day with my family and relatives

  • 1. $38 on groceries (our least expensive grocery run ever!), $40 on a few winter head wraps at the craft show, $25 on a tank of gas, and $30 on lunch with my family.

    2. Our first paint project is done!!  We put $500 back in the house account and $250 in savings. We have to build our house account back up before starting the next round of painting.

    3. H is working, I'm starting the day with a class at the gym, then going out for an early dinner with my aunt and my two uncles.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend? $180 on groceries (buying Thanksgiving stuff and food for 2 extra people this week, plus other things); another $80 on beer and wine for hosting; $6 at Lowe's for some spray paint to finish a project; $50 on dinner out and that's all folks! Kind of a spendy weekend.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Nada.

    3. What are your Thanksgiving plans? We're hosting my ILs this week. They'll arrive sometime tomorrow afternoon and I think they're staying til Sunday. We'll obviously have Thanksgiving dinner at the house (my first time hosting!), and we plan to take them to a massive Christmas lights display in our area. Otherwise we'll probably just hang out at the house. H's family LOVES board games so I imagine we'll be spending most of our time doing that.

    1. How MM was your weekend? Pretty good- groceries ($127), dinner/drinks with DH ($71), parking for Sabres game ($20).. super exciting game against the Pens too.. great date night!

    2. Any progress towards goals? Nothing financial. Bathroom is getting there. We decided to try to get Book of Mormon tickets when we're in NYC too. They have tickets through July so I have to keep checking weekly. It'll be fun to hopefully see that as well.

    3. What are your Thanksgiving plans? We have Thanksgiving lunch at our house- my parents, my grandma, my aunt, cousin, his girlfriend, DH's parents, and the 4 of us. It works out well. Then for dinner (which we usually don't eat because we're stuffed from lunch), we go over to DH's parents' house to see his aunt and uncle as well. Pretty small- 12 for the day, 8 at night. Friday, the tree comes out!

  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

It was okay.  $69 at Home Depot and also checked out their appliance deals.  $165 at Costco.  $49 at Winn Dixie.  I was super excited with Winn Dixie.  They had a special on Sat.-Sun. to buy any turkey, regardless of size, for only $6.  They also had a sugar-free pumpkin pie!  Score!!!  For once, I can have more than a tiny sliver of pumpkin pie and without the guilt.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

I paid away $2,000 in credit card debt from another credit card that has 0% interest for balance transfers until June 2018.  Also paid down my HELOC $2450.

    3. What are your Thanksgiving plans?

Enjoying my LOOOONNNGGG weekend!  I work a 4 9s, half day Friday schedule.  But at my job, Thurs. and Fri. are holidays.  So my half day switches to Wed.  I'm only working 2 1/2 days this week without taking even one hour of vacation time.  Woo hoo!

Other than that, we aren't really doing anything.  We don't have family in the area and my H is too busy with our new duplex to go anywhere.  We'll spend TG cooking up that $6 turkey, lol.  Plus the other fixings we got.

  • 1. How MM was your weekend? Slightly spendy, but mostly anticipated. The only unanticipated cost was $223 for replacing the window in my car. Otherwise, $58 on groceries for Thanksgiving/some xmas cookies, $53 on clothes at Target (BOGO 50% off sweaters, and 20% off jeans on Cartwheel), $15 on food for a potluck, $20 on a fundraiser order, $20 to church.

    2. Any progress towards goals? Well, replacing my car window was a goal lol, as well as finding a new pair of jeans. Otherwise, no. Just plugging along.

    3. What are your Thanksgiving plans? We're hosting my in-laws and this will be our first hosted Thanksgiving. I'm excited, but TBH I'm more excited for Gilmore Girls on Friday. :D

  • 1) We spent $200 at Walmart buying clothes for our Angel kid.  I went a bit overboard and bought an entire wardrobe for her, but that's OK.  Then we spent about $80 on groceries, most of which was a Costco-inspired thanksgiving for me and my H last night.  It was H's idea, since we will be gone for the holiday.

    2) No progress this week, though my piano playing has really picked up.  I managed to practice for several hours this weekend.

    3) We are heading to Amsterdam on Wednesday and will be gone the rest of the week!  So excited :)

  • For the record: the Costco turkey breast+stuffing+gravy combo they are selling in the meat section right now is delicious.  Absolutely no fuss at all to make!

  • 1 - pretty good - we went out to eat for my dads bday Saturday and spent $26.  I had to get a few things are target - $80 and a car wash - $8.  DH went to the grocery  store yesterday -  $20

2 - I got another violin student last week to add to my studio :)  Also DH officially has 3 renters at his studio.  He already had 1 that went with him from the old place and these other 2 were past renters that he already knows.  He is looking for 1 more renter.  3/4 of his mortgage is paid for which is amazing.  His painter finished the outside of is building yesterday.  Hopefully concrete will start next week for the sidewalks up to his building.  He also had his first hourly renter last Saturday.  We need to clean up the music room and start promoting it this month for music teachers.  Extra cash flow would be awesome right now.

3 - Thursday we spend with my mom and dad.  Saturday we spend with DH's mom and her husband and his kids.  This weekend we want to put up the xmas lights on the outside of the house.  I want to score on some clothes for myself on black friday.
  • We've been in Orlando since Friday, so I'm not sure I even want to tally up the expenses...  We're doing a "Thanksgiving" brunch with my FIL on Wednesday and then on Thursday we're hitting the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom - totally MM thanks to free tickets from FIL's girlfriend who is a Disney cast member.

  • 1.  Oye, well, not great, but not as terrible as it could be either LOL  Friday night, dinner out, $50, gas, $30.  Had to drive out to the airport and back so H could pick up a free rental car to go to a football game on Saturday.  Then, on Saturday had to drive back out there to pick up my mom.  Parking, $3.  Sunday, $30 at Joanne Fabric for materials for a tree stand cover, then drove up to my BFF's in the mountains to have lunch, then grocery store for almost the rest of the Thanksgiving stuff and groceries for the week, $115.  Gas again, $25.  Mom took H and I to Smashburger for dinner, so that was nice.  $30 including shipping on some Christmas LuLaRoe leggings, which is ridiculous for leggings but they were so cute.

    2.  Moved $100 to savings.

    3.  Well, mom arrived Saturday, she'll be here til a week from Tuesday.  Brother arrives today, leaves Friday, Stepdad arrives Wednesday, leaves Sunday.  On the day of we have 8 coming, mostly Stepdad's family.  Friday, I hope to hit up a few stores in the afternoon for some sales, need a few more pairs of casual pants/jeans for work.  The rest of the day Friday will be resting and driving my mom and stepdad around to look at neighborhoods/areas since they're moving here next Summer.  Stepdad's mom is having people to her house Friday night, not sure if I'm going to go to that.  More of the same Saturday, and then H and I have hockey tickets for Saturday night.  Sunday, resting and putting up my Christmas tree.  I'm already exhausted thinking about it.
  • 1. We spent about $175 between regular groceries and Thanksgiving groceries/wine. Not much else was spent, but I had my first of several subbing shifts at church daycare to earn some Christmas money.

    2. Standard deposits to medical, home, and car savings. Still doing well with being credit card free.

    3. We are hosting for the first time! This is the first TG ever that I've been so excited about :) As a funny aside, SFIL apparently bought his own turkey since he doesn't trust us to do it properly and give him leftovers. Can't wait to prove him wrong!

That is brilliant to go to those parks on TG!!  They should be fairly empty (hopefully).

When I lived in CA, my b/f and two of our friends all went to Six Flags Magic Mountain on Superbowl Sunday.  The place was empty.  It was awesome!  But we were all football fans, so we taped it and were careful not to listen to the radio on the way home.  We then all watched it that night together, lol.

And yes, I mean "tape", a VCR.  It was going to be a long time before DVRs came into existence, lol.

  • 1. Not the best. Friday - $15 at Target. Saturday - $25 for breakfast out, $25 at Target (I go there too often), $8 for pizza. Sunday - $57 on tastefully simple order,  $15 tip at the massage place and my first $55 payment came out for a monthly massage membership (Definitely not MM).

    2. Not a pay week, so no. Trying to control spending. This month has been hard with prepping for Christmas and SO MANY birthdays.

    3. We're going to my Dad's for TG brunch, then my grandmom's for TG dinner. Friday I'll go shopping with my sister, cousin, and friend.  Saturday we'll plan to have some of our friends/family over for a small get together. H really wanted TG leftovers so I'm just going to make a small turkey with all the fixings. I also plan to make a Good Will run this weekend and purge the house in prep for Christmas gifts.

Another option would be preparing just a turkey breast.  My H and I did that for TG one year.
  • 1. We did alright - about $45 at the grocery store and I'm not sure how much DH spent on take-out Sunday night (maybe $30?). Our bearded dragon died on Sunday (he was 7.5 years old) and we were utterly gutted and gave ourselves permission to take a day and be lazy and just cry and bury him in the backyard. Our dog is extremely confused, but he's such a sweetie and has been on me like glue since he can tell I'm sad.

    2. Just plugging along... Need to set a holiday budget before my husband goes on a crazy spending spree though (some days I swear he only married me so that he could celebrate Christmas the man loves it so much hahaha)

    3. Going to dinner at DH's cousin's house. My parents come too since we're a small family and it's the only holiday that overlaps (I'm Catholic and DH is Jewish) so we celebrate it all together. I'm super baby paranoid but my first ultrasound is tomorrow and I told DH that as long as we see/hear the heartbeat then we can make the announcement on Thursday. It's super early (6 weeks), but everyone there already knows we did IVF so making them wait much longer would be mean.

I'm so sorry to hear about your bearded dragon!  It's amazing how well dogs pick up on our social cues.  I'm glad he is being a comfort.

I hope everything goes well at the ultrasound tomorrow!  I can only imagine how crazy excited your all's family will be.

  • @short+sassy thank you! The grandparents are going to lose it - my MIL fell in love with the embryo photo already lol. They have all been waiting to be grandparents and can't wait!
  • @LillibetteV - I think telling everyone on T-Day is awesome!  I was telling DH a couple weeks ago I would have loved to surprise the family with a pregnancy for the holidays.  I guess there is still a chance this cycle.  How are you feeling?
  • @vlagrl35  I hope this is your cycle! I have waves of feeling like total garbage, and then I'll get a day or two where I feel fine. Today is a garbage day lol. I'm exhausted, nauseous, crampy, and these boobs are just becoming ridiculous. The only thing that makes my stomach happy is egg salad sandwiches which is a strange craving, but at least it's a decent combo of protein, fat, and carbs! It could be worse I think lol
  • girl it could be way worse you could have had my pregnancy with DD @LillibetteV - I kid you not there have been thoughts in my head where God is letting me know that he doesn't think I'm strong enough to go thru pregnancy again.  You know what?  I would do it all over again to the T.  I'm enjoying my body right now and going to spoil myself with a pair of overpriced jeans this weekend.

My friend went from an A cup to a D cup within the first 6 months of her first pregnancy.  I know it was astounding for her.  I couldn't imagine.  I'm on the bustier side anyway, but it didn't happen in 6 months, lol.

I'm up from a C to probably a D now at week 6 (haven't bought new bras yet - just trying to cram my boobs into my regular ones for now with limited success). I was pretty flat-chested until I hit my late 20s and I regret all those times I wished for bigger boobs now!

That's interesting!  Mine grew fast and furiously between the ages of 12-15 and then completely stopped at a C.  Thank goodness!!!  I was starting to worry I was going to be the next Dolly Parton.

I'm only 5'0" tall, though, so they look bigger than they are.  Especially in my younger, skinnier days.

  • I started at an A and went up to a C.Probably pushing D once the milk came in.  Now I'm a B - its still weird to me having boobs lol.
  • 1. How MM was your weekend?

    • Weekend was pretty decent. Spent about $100 on groceries and toiletries.
    • Ate out on Friday night (used a gift card) and Sunday--$20.

    2. Any progress towards goals?

    • Still need to come up with new, specific goals.
    • Continuing to save in general savings/e-fund

    3. What are your Thanksgiving plans?

    • DH plans to smoke a turkey and his mother is bringing over most of the side dishes...which means, I don't have to cook!!!

Love it!  We ended up going to the Magic Kingdom yesterday.  I was worried since they were free tickets that we'd get to the gate and there'd be some stipulation or blackout period we weren't aware of.  It was crazy busy yesterday - probably the busiest we've ever seen it!!  Thursday we're going to hit up Universal/Islands of Adventure in the morning.  It'll be interesting to see how busy it is.  Our (off property) hotel is only at 18% percent capacity.
