Wish List

I'm adding some things on to my Amazon wish list for the holidays.  It got me thinking.  It doesn't have to be MM but what's something on your wish list?

  • Spent a small fortune on at least part of my wishlist this weekend...

At the top are a new rug for the living room and 20+ frames to finally have things on our (totally bare) walls.  We did buy these this weekend.

Otherwise, I would like some new black and nude flats, white gold stud earrings, a roomba, and a maid service.

  • My wishlist is for someone to come and throw out half the crap in my house. Getting gifts at the holidays stresses me out because our house is so cluttered as it is and we don't need anything really.

I'd also love for someone to come finish painting my hallway trim and the upstairs bathroom. I miiiight pull the pregnancy card and see if I can get my mom to help with those projects this spring lol.

If I had to pick an item though I'd take some asscher cut diamond earrings quite happily lol. Tiny and would get a lot of use is my idea of a great present hehehehe
  • Well we already exchanged gifts LOL  I put the Dyson V6 Top Dog handheld vacuum on mine as a "probably won't ever happen" gift, but that's what H got me!  Sounds silly to put a vacuum on the list but I really really wanted it.   I got him a leafblower.

I also had a stainless steel saute pan with lid on the list.  I'd like a bigger pan to do "one pot" meals in, that isn't a dutch oven, that can go from stove to oven.  It's probably something I can buy for myself sometime soon though, since it's under $100.

Something else I would like is new snow boots, but I'm incredibly picky and my feet are shaped funny so it's something I'll need to buy for myself.  My current pair, which are sorta like uggs but waterproof from a company called Santana in Canada, I bought in 2003, and they still actually work pretty good, I just want something a bit taller.  Will need to save up though because I'll want really nice $200+ ones.

I didn't really think that I have one, but my bernina is in for repair so a backup sewing machine (juki) is now on my wish list!   The craziest part is that the last payment on my machine was made today- last night, the semi-automatic needle threader jammed up into the sewing machine foot and now I can't get it down and it won't run.  :(

  • I really want fixtures for our bathroom remodel, dark red jeggings, a programmable crock pot, and a white scarf.

I mean there are a ton of other things I could add, but I kept my Christmas very light this year.

  • My wish would be to not have to make a list!  I'm such a scrooge with receiving presents.  I just want to buy what I want for myself at the time I want it....and there isn't a lot I want throughout the year.  I don't exchange with my family (or H) but now that I am married I have to come up for a list for H's family.

My list for them is a phone charger and restaurant gift cards.

I was complaining to my mom about my pregnancy boobs (they're already a cup size bigger and I'm only 8 weeks! They have to slow down at some point right?!?!) and she laughed and said "can I say I told you so?"  I replied back "only if you get me huge bras for Christmas" so I guess I know what I'm getting now hahaha. At least it will be practical!
  • Haha @LillibetteV welcome to the club.  With DD's pregnancy I was up 2 sizes before the end of 1st trimester.  Thankfully this time I'm in 2nd trimester now and only up 1 size, but I'm engorged in the mornings.  WTF?  Reminds me of when I nursed DD.
You'll thank yourself if your mom gets you some new bras.  They're worth it.

I did not like that part.  went up 2 full cup sizes by the end.  I started leaking collostrum (sp?) at 18 weeks.  woke up that morning with a wet spot on my nightgown and didn't understand what the heck was going on.
  • @LillibetteV It's very possible.
My aunt told me she knew I was pregnant because of a picture that was posted on FB and I was in the background.  I was about 8 weeks in that picture, but she said she could tell by my boobs.
My one co-worker said he knew early on due to a mix between my upper half growing and the fact that I was getting sick in the bathroom but didn't go home from throwing up.  I still give him crap that he called my boobs my "upper half."

  • I have a freaky friend who can tell when someone is pregnant before there is any sign at all.  I've asked her how she does it.  She doesn't know, at least not consciously, she'll just suddenly get a strong sixth sense when they are.

My sister is similar!! She will usually have a dream someone is pregnant and within a week or two they announce. It's weird!

H and I don't want kids, especially me, so I would stay in denial for a few months if I missed my period. I told her any time she says she has a dream I'm pregnant I'm running out to get a test.

  • @brij2006 I wish people just had the decency to not start rumors around the office! Luckily I haven't puked yet, but I have been avoiding certain foods at lunch I would normally be all over (italian subs....I miss those....) We have our holiday party tomorrow which gets pretty rowdy (a bunch of us had to be poured into cabs last year) so that might be the dead giveaway lol. But even still it's women who have had children so you would think they understand that people don't announce to the world the second they get a positive and to just let it lie and wait for me to announce!

So I still haven't told our 2nd office, which is the office I started out in and worked in for the first 5 years I was here.  So I'm pretty close to most of them.  But we had our Christmas party last Friday and I was surprised at how nobody asked or said anything.  I e-mailed my one co-worker yesterday to tell her I'm pregnant and she said she just thought I wasn't drinking because H was and I was driving home.  She didn't think anything of it.  I was actually looking forward to it coming out there, so now I'm trying to figure out what I should send to everyone to let them know we're pregnant.  I don't really want them finding out through the grapevine or Facebook.

I told my boss before our Christmas party that I was pregnant because I was afraid that rumors would start at the party and I wanted to tell him directly.  I got a glass of wine when we walked in for cocktail hour and took a few sips.  I kept it at the table throughout lunch and everyone else was drinking so much that they never noticed!  It might have been more obvious if you had to go to the bar to get drinks, but the waiter was just refilling wine glasses at the table.
  • I seem to be the minority as compared to the general population, but I never notice what someone else is drinking.  Maybe if they are placing their order at the same time I am, but that is about it.  I also don't think twice if they are not ordering alcohol.

I could see it being more likely in a closer group of friends if my, normally wino or hard drinker friend (no judgment, I resemble that), is unusually sporting a club soda all night.

But coworkers?  No way.  Not unless I socialize with them on a fairly regular basis.

I am the same way!  I listen to others order in case something sounds good and I want to try it, but that's it. I am also a person that will drink socially (regularly) sometimes and not other times. I don't bat an eye if someone was drinking a beer or three last week, and is drinking a pop tonight, even among my close friends.

The downfall of working in a law office - there are drinking events at least once a month (in the office not even counting drinks on a Friday night) so people know I like to drink lol.

Under most circumstances, I'd call that a perk! whisper...engineering companies are super boring in that regard.

But I can see why there is a good chance your coworkers could become suspicious ;)

Yeah we have Thirsty Thursday at the office.  Thankfully since having DD I haven't been able to stay very late to partake.  But it was difficult those few nights I was.  I made up some excuse that we have church class on Thursday nights so I probably shouldn't show up there with beer on my breath.
Although now I joke with them that I had purchased a 6 pack of my favorite beer the night before I tested and its just been sitting in our fridge at home staring at me.  So I did bring that into the office for them to have.

My husband has kindly consumed all the beer that would have tempted me lol. I've had some Fre wine but it just tastes like juice.
  • You guys I still have that bottle of Dom parignon champagne unopened. Maybe we will open it for New Years.
