  • Maryland's a lot more temperate @abrewer5, and I know it kind of shuts down when you get snow I find complaining a lot more justifiable there. In New England, it just kind of needs to be dealt with since 2'+  storms are going to happen pretty much every year.

I'll be honest, though I am proud not to be one of them, the Northeast has a lot of snow whiners. It drives me crazy because it happens EVERY YEAR. Whining about it gains you nothing. I feel like a good chunk of our population just wants to complain as much as possible until they retire and move to Florida. The midwesterners I know are much less complainy so I'd say that infographic is accurate.

I'm totally guilty of being a whiner about winter weather and I'm very excited to move to Florida eventually. My H and I talk about it all the time. I was born and raised in MD and all my family lives here so I know it will be hard for me to actually leave, but man I HATE cold weather.
My H thinks Alabama is too cold and has been campaigning for a move to Miami for years.  I think NOLA is as cold as he would go long-term.

Guilty. Don't get me wrong I love snow when I can spend time playing in it and then warming up with my dog by a nice fire with a hot drink! Or even a weekend storm where I can shovel in stages and it isn't so burdensome. But getting up early to shovel out and still getting to work late and half soaked....yea...not my thing lol.
  • It is sometimes extra funny to me that, as temperate as NOLA is in the winter, it is still a lot colder than where I grew up, lol.  Little So. CA beach town.  55-75 all year long.  It was a brrr day if it dropped into the high 40s.  Never got below freezing.  Not even close.  I know.  I'm a super baby.

I do love a sunny snow day.  But then, I've only seen snow on vacation or in NOLA (very temporarily).  I could definitely see how fast it would become frustrating to have to do "every day stuff" in it.  Like go to work and run errands.

Yeah up there you kind of know what you're getting into.

MD weather is ridiculous. All weekend and Monday it was below 20 degrees and windy. Then yesterday we woke up to ice from freezing rain over night with accidents every where, but by the afternoon it was 51 degrees. Today is a high of 60. Snow definitely shuts things down here because people do not know how to drive.

At this point thou, I've lived here 26 years so I feel like I should stop complaining! Haha

That's exactly our Colorado weather.  It snowed like 8-12" last week, then we had well below freezing temps, then it warmed up into the 40s, and then was close to 60 on Tuesday, yesterday it was 50s until about 3pm when it dropped down into the 30s and started snowing LOL

At least here people somewhat know how to drive in the snow and the cities are equipped to deal with it.  However, up in the mountains a few of the ski resorts have had to pretty much shut down because of the amount of snow.  That's when you know there's a lot, that even the ski resorts shut down.
