Resolution accountability post.
We're now ten days in to 2017! How are your New Year's resolutions going, financial or otherwise?

Re: Resolution accountability post.
Our financial resolutions are a a work in progress, but I'm happy with the progress. We 1. decided what the goals are 2. determined a somewhat aggressive car loan payoff schedule and made the first large payment of the schedule 3. decided what to do with my bonus (part to my Roth IRA, part to the car loan) 4. Set Google calendar reminders on the 15th of each month to review spending/budget goals, and on the 28th of each month to set the next month's budget.
As far as personal, we've both been drinking less alcohol, which is a start to eating healthy...:)
I DID finally set up my HSA auto deposit yesterday. I set up the HSA when I started this job but kept delaying the start because I wanted more money for my actual savings account. The next step of this is to transfer over my HSA from my old job into this one. Or, I could just leave it where it is since it's easy to use it when I need it.
My company is also starting up a new 401k program, the informational meeting for that is on the 27th. They don't match, but I'll be starting a contribution once I'm allowed to.
We're doing good on expenses as well- for some reason, our Target bill has been averaging $189/month in 2016 but so far, it's only $75 and it will close in about a week... trying to get that down to $100/month.
Even with the upcoming HELOC, mortgage balance, and car loans, we should have everything paid off by Spring 2022... I'll continue to tweak the numbers to hopefully get it all paid off by EOY 2021.
Personal goals are still on track- no eating after 7pm has been keeping my weight stable (even through the holidays).. need to get up early in the morning and start working out to drop a few more (5 would be great, 8 would be amazing!)... so hard when it's cold and dark outside!
On track to pay off my SL in March so that is good. Just throwing money at that. Until that's paid off I can't work many of my other goals.
Weight loss is slow, but that's my fault because I haven't been hitting the gym like I need to. I'm about 2 pounds from being in the "normal" weight/BMI category for my height and would like to hit that by the end of this month. Ultimate goal is to reach the middle of the range which would put me around 115 for my impressive (joking) height of 5' 1".
I feel your pain! I'm only 5'0" myself. Pfft. 5-10 pounds can be the difference of a whole size when there isn't much height to spread that weight over.
At least its the same way and encouraging when losing.
I was just saying the other day that my height is both good and bad when it comes to weight because you can see when I put any on (bad) but you can also easily tell when I take any off (good).
Ugh that is soo sad, the poor thing. Our dog has back issues too...but this time he is not eating much and has high liver enzymes so they may want to do an ultrasound...we've done one in the past, but I just financially don't want to move forward, but we will for now...it's just becoming too much
I'm absolutely crazy about my dog. Last week I had a very minor scare with her as she's been having some stomach issues, but I called my mom and H sobbing thinking something was seriously wrong with her. (There was blood involved so I don't feel I was over reacting too much) She's fine now after going on a bland diet for a few days, but H told me I need to start preparing now for the distant future when something happens (she's only 4 so we're hoping it's the distant future). She's my baby and aside for any other pets we get in the future, will likely be the only baby I ever know.
If it came down to it, I would spend anything on her to make her better if I knew it would fix the issue and give her better quality of life. It's ridiculous I know, but she's my child.

What I like about dogs is they are sweet, adorable, perpetual toddlers...but you don't get arrested if you leave them home alone, lol. (Sorry for the tangent)
LOL YES. I love this.
I totally agree. That is the heartbreaking part about pets. I would do anything or pay anything to give my dog the quality of life she deserves but if it gets beyond that point to where she will not have the same quality of life I would have to make the hard decisions. Selfishly I would want to keep her going forever, but I know that's not possible. Although I regularly joke I will turn her into a franken-dog like in the movie Frankenweenie.
Finance-wise, I have not established new goals for this year yet...so not doing so hot in that regard. We need to re-evaluate our budget, increase retirement savings and find some new focus areas.
