I was recently watching Fixer Upper (all the homes are in Waco).  And for this particular couple, they put a "dog shower" in the mud room.  I'd never seen that before!  It was pretty cute.  It basically looked like a mini shower, but the nozzle was only about 3' high.  It also had a side on the front to keep the dog(s) corralled in.
    1. I really really really REALLY would love to have Chip and Joanna Gaines come to my house and make it look as amazing as the homes they work on on their show. This is my dream.

    Ok, done gushing.

I saw this episode! My only thought was DH would be SO annoyed if he had seen it because they tore out a workshop area to put in the dog bath.

True!  But I'll tell you the same thing I told my CA friend who also loves the show, you'll have to buy a house in Waco, lol.  "Refreshing" for a reality show, but they are real people who have a real business...doing exactly what they do on the show.  Hence why the shows are always in the Waco area.  They don't have time to be gallivanting around the country, because they have "non" TV clients also.

But if that ever changes, I'm closer to Waco than you and I'll fight you for them :p

  • Oh man, a dog shower would be GREAT! Sure a tub works fine but we're talking dreams here. We could also use it rinse off our diving and camping gear.

I love Fixer Upper and love the Gaines, but to be 100% honest Joanna's interior decorating style isn't really my thing. It looks great, but wouldn't be what I wanted for my home.

Ditto.  I love watching the show, but not into her design style.

  • My favorite one she did was the one for the bachelor... had more than just white everywhere, love loved it.
  • @Xstatic3333 and @jtmh2012, my H always jokes that he wants to hire them JUST to tell Joanna, "No shiplap."

Just give it all to meeeeeeee!!

    Just kidding, a little.

I really liked the episode from this week though. I love how they incorporated some of the original flooring from the house into an accent wall. They left it the natural wood color and it was really beautiful.

LOL! Where she loses me is the initials and inspirational slogans everywhere. I do like some of the more subtle personal touches.

This house! with some modifications- need 1/2 bath downstairs and a 2nd full bath upstairs. Probably take that downstairs bedroom for the 1/2 bath and to make the den bigger.

  • My parents put the plumbing in their basement for a dog shower but never finished it. And now the don't have any pets. (There's a door from the garage into the basement)
  • Oh wow. For one thing, I married a farmer on a family farm, which he is going to inherit someday, so we have a pretty tiny chance of ever moving. We've added an extra garage stall for my car, 2 walk-in closets (one for us, one for the kids room), and an extra room with a small back porch.

If I could dream big, I wouldn't change a lot about the inside of the house. I would love to change the siding to brick. I would love a separate space for our chickens, so that we had some grass without chicken poop. I would love to finish our basement, and add on a large, screened in (or glassed in) front porch. This part is going to sound crazy, but I would LOVE an indoor lap pool (and pay someone else to take care of all the chemicals and cleaning of it) and an indoor tennis court. Too bad those last 2 things will only happen if I win the lottery,  and I don't play the lottery! :)
