Re: Monday Accountability
1. $25 Home depot $20 Gas and I think that's it!
2. Nothing, we get paid this week. Today, we will be investing H's traditional ROTH account that he rolled over.
3. I like candy hearts, and red hots!
$18 on a prosecco hostess gift. $50 on a mystery shop lunch that will be reimbursed next month. It was really good! And then we went a little overboard at the grocery store. We were just going to get a couple things and then we saw the $25 steak and lobster dinner in a heart shaped box. It totally sucked us in along with some other higher end fish. We ended up spending $60 at the grocery store in addition to the $10 I spent earlier in the weekend at Aldi.
I went out with girl friends to brunch and spent $15 in fun money.
2. We booked a vacation tour of Spain for October. We'll go to several major cities: Barcelona, Madrid, Toledo, Valencia, Seville, Granada, etc. It was on sale so we saved $800 off of the regular price. The total is within what we were thinking for our vacation budget this year.
3. Cookies. Heart shaped and jelly filled like my mom and I used to make or really any kind of cookie.
2) We started the process to get a HELOC on our house. We are planning on remodeling our master bath later on this year. We will pay cash for it and use the same contractor as our kitchen, but this time I want a HELOC as a back-up source of funds just in case. We didn't have that when we did our kitchen. We did stay in budget on the kitchen, but it drained our savings, and I was really worried that we were going to go over budget the entire time. It made the process unnecessarily stressful. Lesson learned, I'm not doing another major remodel without a HELOC.
3) I love all kinds of chocolate. Chocolate-covered strawberries especially.
2. $120 to mortgage principal. H did sign his first client for $5,000! It'll likely be a while until he begins drawing a salary, but it'll be nice to add this additional buffer to his business account.
3. My mom used to make us a cake every Valentine's Day that was filled with bananas and topped with an egg white frosting. It's a sweet memory.
2. The usual savings plus an extra $835 from DH's overtime check into the pre-baby house repair fund. He's worked so much that we can pay for the new front stairs and the electrical work without dipping into regular savings. I'm hoping this current storm will cover renovating the inside stairs too.
3. Normally I'm all about a nice box of chocolates, but I cannot STAND the sight of chocolate or sweets lately. This fetus has eliminated my sweet tooth.
2. Not this week. But I did find out that my annual incentive check will be three times higher than last year! That gets paid on the 24th.
3. I like all kinds of fruity candy. Skittles, starbursts, sweet tarts, that kind of thing.
1. How MM was your weekend? Lots of little things that added up. $50 between two trips to Lowes. $5 at Goodwill. $65 on dog food and a new dog toy. $20 at the farmers market. $17 on fuel. $20 at Autozone but we got $50 back for a tool rental that DH finally returned. $300 at REI on camping gear (from the bonus money).
2. Any progress towards goals? Last week we found out DH was getting a bonus and a raise. The bonus hit the account Friday, so we're putting half into savings and the rest will be for fun/things we need.
3. Do you have a favorite Valentine's day candy or food? My mom has the best recipe ever for sugar cookies so definitely that! Anything chocolate and red hots!
1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad- groceries ($153), gas ($32), target ($25- valentines for the girls to hand out at school, glass water bottle for DH, plates for DD#2's school party), script and UC visit for DH ($50- strep throat on a weekend)
2. Any progress towards goals? Added $3K to DH's Roth IRA for 2016, will add $3K to mine next month and be all set with 2016. 2017 contributions will come from a CD that is up in August. 403b change is still in the works. Also on track to spend less than $100/month at Target for 2 months straight (this month it's actually less than $50!).. hope to keep this up.
3. Do you have a favorite Valentine's day candy or food? dark chocolate covered almonds or espresso beans.

Horrible
. Really, it was the week. Our new duplex got broken into and all the tools were stolen. It's a safe neighborhood but, unfortunately, thievery is a danger in unoccupied properties.
I'm already drowning in credit card debt because of this reno and we immediately had to charge another $850 to the Home Depot credit card to repair the damage and get about half the tools we immediately need.
2. Any progress towards goals?
The new duplex is a 2-bed unit and a 3-bed unit. We're still working on the 3-bed, but started showings for the 2-bed. I have three applications, two of them look great. I am going through them today and calling references. With any luck, I'll get a lease signed this week (crossing fingers!!!).
I met with a life insurance agent on Friday. I will be putting up a post with questions.
3. Do you have a favorite Valentine's day candy or food?
I don't have a sweet tooth at all. So, no, not the typical sweet stuff that V-Day is associated with. But I like to have a sumptuous, gourmet meal with champagne. Then again, I always like that, lol. Usually, we get the prepacked dinners at Whole Foods. But Harrahs is having lobster on their buffet tomorrow, I have a coupon for two free buffets, so we're going there for V-Day dinner. Free lobster? Pretty much a no brainer!
2) $700 to our various savings accounts for the house, car, and vacation.
3) I want all the chocolate. All of it.
We also got an awesome Hotwire hotel deal for a hotel in River North that was walking distance to the brunch place we had a Groupon for and and an Uber Groupon that got us $24 worth of rides for $6 really helped us keep the cost down.
I lived and worked in the Loop for a couple years, which really helps in knowing where certain things are. Hope you get to take a trip there soon! I love visiting, but wouldn't want to live there again.

That makes 2 of us. Whenever I think I miss living in Chicago, we go for a weekend and are reminded we don't.
