30-day shred: yes or no?

okay, i really need to do something fitness-wise.  i don't care for leaving the bean at the gym daycare, but i don't have time otherwise to go.

i've heard lots of things about this 30-day shred thing, but i don't really know anything about it.  got any feedback for me?

Re: 30-day shred: yes or no?

  • When I can motivate myself to do it, I get my ass kicked but I'm also super out of shape. The first few times I did it, I was completely sore the next day. I like it because its only 20 minutes and everyone has 20 minutes but I'm just not very good at sticking to it and the only way you see results (so I'm told) is if you do it regularly.
  • shut yer piehole, mboc.

20 minute routines?  i like that idea a lot.  although from the reviews i'm reading, it'll be the longest 20 minutes of my life.  heh.

  • It really is. I trash talk Jillian the whole time...it makes doing the workouts easier that way. Smile
  • yeah, it's like the 8-minute abs workout (yes, i fell into that trap too).  you think, "oh, cool, 8 minutes isn't that bad!"

  • Where's D? I think she did all 30 days of it. I think AngieEatsPeace also blogged about it.

I did three consecutive days and my knees felt like they belonged on an 80 year old. I've been scared to try it again until I lose at least 10-15 pounds through other forms of exercise first.

  • I think I only got to about 21 days total, but I didn't ever do more than 4 or 5 days in a row.  I agree with Star that it was rough on the knees after a while.  Which is why I only did Level 3 once.  But I just loved level 1 and 2.

I got great results but I was also working out like a psychopath with extra cardio about 5x a week bc I was training for a halfie.

I will say that damn, that video gives you cuts where you never thought you had them!  I was seriously surprised at what an efficient little workout it was.

    DO IT!

  • Give it a shot! It's so cheap on deepdiscountdvd that you almost have to.

I do it a couple times a week on average, it's helped a lot with strength. It will kick yourass but it's easier than running every day or going to the gym. When I lose the motivation to do it I look at old photos of myself at my happy weight. I usually reward myself with non-food items if I can keep it up for a few days in a row.

  • FWIW you aren't supposed to do 30 days straight - you should always have a rest day in between strength workouts.

If you can find a 20 minute cardio interval routine, do that on the off days

  • C'mon Wan . . . whatever happened to your Wii Fit? :)
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who cannot stick to this. My thirty days was more like three. =X

  • The strength segments actually weren't too bad for me (yay for pilates!).

What killed me were the cardio segments. I never knew jumping jacks could kick my butt so badly. Embarrassed

  • I love it.  After being lazy for awhile I am going to start again.  I was already running and had been lifting some weights when I started.  I was totally out of breath and was so sore the next day.  I would do it on the days I wasn't running (I was doing C25K at the time).  It took about 3 or 4 times before I did not feel like b!tch slapping Jillian.  I even wore my heart rate monitor a couple of times and burned about 250 calories in 25 minutes.  You will get cardio, strength and abs all in that time.  Look to see if your On Demand has it.  It should be under Exercise on Demand.  It's free and usually has all three levels.
  • Definitely the longest 20 min of your life, but a great way to get in some quick cardio/strength training.

I lost more inches than weight, and had more definition in my abs, than I had ever seen before.

I have blogged about it a few times, there is a 30DS tag in my blog.

  • Kicks your ass ... your abs hurt for days ... but it's good!!! I liked it and I'm no where near in shape.
